Loyalty System for cash shop

Since the cash shop is being added regardless of the backlash and cancelled subs your getting, implement a loyalty system, as in we log in a day and get points towards your cash shop items. (this is if they are only obtainable through the cash shop and not ingame through farming). That way all this gear that should be free in the first place is obtainable by those of us who dont want to spend extra money ontop of your sub fees.

This cash shop idea should've been brought to a vote to begin with, if i missed it thats beyond me but i think a loyalty system will bring some of the anger down.

I do not support the cash shop at all but since we have 0 choice about this being added a loyalty system needs to be implemented for every single thing in the cash shop since were all already paying a sub, if the items in cash shop are only obtainable in the cash shop (which i think they will be seeing as last years halloween items arent in this years event).

If they did add this, although I don't support the cash shop at all, it would bother me a lot less if something like this was added.

It would go along with a request I had a while ago... Earn points each month you can spend on a list of benefits. The system they are using now would mean that a player that joins 2 years from now is going to be looking at an impossible mountain lol. Rather a point system would allow them to pick and choose, or if impatient to just buy it all up at once.

I'm with you, I'd rather not see a cash shop but I like your suggestion if we had to have one.. it would make the cash shop feel at least partially optional.

Phantasy Star Online 2 has a really good method for this.
2 diffrent currencies.

Fun points: aquired daily by logging in and also by giving "commendations" (the commendation system has a daily limit for points)
Arks Cash: aquired with real life money.

The way they do it is this.

1.New items in the shop are only obtainable via Arks Cash.

2.After a few weeks some of the items are put into a raffle section called Fun scratch, it's a scratch card you can buy with your daily fun points.
You scratch the ticket and have a chance of obtaining an older cash shop item.

3.These items in the Fun Scratch are cycled more or less weekly, and of course during seasonal events etc the items are easier to obtain.

This Free scratch method is also a fun thing to look forward to for when you login.

This is a compromise, one that SE doesn't have to do but it would be nice. "Thanks for playing, we have a cash shop but why don't you have a little treat on us".

(difference being here you could choose from the list, rather than the item being chosen for you - and the cash shop items not being exclusive)

@ OP That's what Veteran Rewards are for, provided they still do them after the Cash Shop is implemented....

I was just thinking of something like this.

Perhaps SE could put some unique currency in the game that could transfer to the cash shop?

I was thinking if they made it as a reward for activities that help other (and especially new) players, such as duty roulettes and FATES, it might be somewhat benefit SE as well by keeping players doing those contents and helping establish a reputation that ARR is not difficult to join as a new player because players still do most contents.

They could also put a cap on how much you could discount each item you purchase.

SE has had my money since idk, 2006 at least. I've bought every FF game released on Steam and Android. The Last Remnant, Tomb Raider, and Just Cause 2 on Steam even.

I'd like a discounted price since I've been loyal, sure. I like this idea.

What if there was an option at certain Vet Reward levels of "pick one item from the cash shop." Or an option to trade the vet reward for one of the cash shop items? I know there's a few vet rewards I would swap.

The forums are up in arms about the cash shop for a reason, this can calm it a little. not all the way but im sure this would be reasonable to both sides.

Again this is ONLY if the content is available through cash shop only, and not farmable ingame. Yoshi said vanity only but vanity is a HUGE part of this game, theres a reason alot of people are pissed.

You may not agree but this is a solution.

I like this as a compromise. And it would certainly avoid a lot of backlash because it makes those items obtainable just by playing the game(something they should have been anyway).

^^ This is the only compromise I can see SE considering. The entire point of the cash shop is to make.....cash Oo. If loyalty points = free items then that totally defeats the point of placing them in a cash shop.

SE is still here for $$ as their main goal...always will be.

But the idea of earned discounts is a lot more reasonable and imo the best idea yet

Why not allow veterans a discount? The cut off has to be somewhere, so let's just say a year's worth of subs. Let your dedicated playerbase get discounts, if not have those items for free entirely, and cash in on everyone else who will spend a few months playing dress up with their glorified barbie doll before they move on to another game. This should be an obvious choice on what to do. *shrug* I don't think a few more dollars out of each person is worth the bad vibes.

I still feel like people are going a bit overboard with this whole cash shop thing. Tons of games have cash shops and there's been less backlash on those companies than Ive seen here...
Just an observation mostly, personally I dont really care what happens with the cash shop so long as regular updates and quality content keep coming.

Oh, they are going overboard, but don't tell them that. They get scary.

The cash shop is just bonus, vanity items. Why does it need a loyalty system? If anything every person subscribed to FFXIV should be on the loyalty system. If so many people were not capped on Fantasia potions SE might not have even thought about adding a cash shop.

People want to buy infinite Fantasia potions for some reason >.>.

If they are asking us to pay extra money for great looking vanity items (on a game where a glamour system is implemented and vanity is a huge part, then we deserve this at least. AGAIN this is only if the items are unobtainable in game. The people mad about this cash shop are ALL people who grind their gear/achievements/mounts/currency in game to obtain these items. To have them given out for free in a non F2P game is an insult regardless of what you want to think about it. Gamers spend time earning these things. This new Gimmie gimmie era are ruining games and thats non-argueable. SE will make money off of them but to keep the dedicated players around a token system WILL work, it wont make us happy about the cash shop but it will at least keep a bunch of permanent players from unsubbing.

People do realize that cash shop will have absolutely no effect on gameplay, right? Unless seeing someone with a pet, they didn't want to pay for, destroys their ability to play their class. Or did I miss the announcement that SE was going to sell BiS gear?

Give like 5$ for each month you sub to ONLY spend on the cash shop.

As long as I can get to it through play. Even with the loyalty shop, we know what SE thinks of grinding.

Meh.... I'd vote "no" on this just cause I'm tired of dealing with the currencies we already have in game. People just need to accept that a Cash Shop is here to stay. Feeling like you "have to" log in to get a daily freeby (1 Cash Shop currency) just sounds tedious to me. If they do opt to have something as suggested then, please make it in game, and not on the web.

And I really don't see people unsubbing, for such a dumb reason.

You realize that stuff that you have to earn in-game wont be purchasable, right? You'll still need to earn those in-game. Also, it's not like they're going to stop adding nice vanity stuff to the game just because they're making some for the CS. :l Really, you're overreacting.

I've got an idea for everybody who is unhappy with the cash shop, it's really simple: don't buy anything from the cash shop. Problem solved

This is the only 'cash shop' idea I've seen that I agree with. (Well, except for people saying they'd pay to not have a cash shop. LOL)

not sure if it has been brought up but Star Wars The Old Republic does this. You get whats called "cartel coins" every single month for having your subscription (you dont get any if you are f2p of course :P) and you can also buy more cartel coins at your leisure. Pretty sure this is exactly what OP is looking for. Can not be used anywhere else except in the shop, cant be traded or sold.

As long as SE puts in some sorta currency instead of just only using flat out cash then this will be easily implemented.

What content is being locked behind the cash shop? Because vanity, pets and mounts really aren't content. And as far as people saying they didn't get a vote, in its implementation, it's SE's mmo.. technically, they can do whatever they please, without needing permission from us.

Maybe not to you. But considering that a large portion of crafter "end game" is vanity gear (spring dress/skirt, glasses, swim suits -- yes, desynthing counts as part of the crafter experience, possibly gatherer as well), it does raise questions regarding what will happen to their end game if the cash shop starts taking pieces of the gear they'd normally be producing. I know several people who have one or two combat classes at 50, but prefer to spend their game time with their eight DoH 50s, crafting things and either using the items themselves, giving them to friends (or selling at discount/mat price), or putting up on the marketboard for other players.

There are people who don't log in with Progression foremost in their mind. There are even those who wouldn't care less if they had an option to unlock an extra Final Coil run for the current week... for a price, because that's not content they're interested in. Just as vanity is content you're not as interested in. Just as that extra coil run would count as P2W for some, those exclusive vanity items count as P2W for others.

Not too long ago, during the Rising event, I picked up my wind-up Minfilia and wind-up Thancred. I thought they were really neat, and looked forward to collecting the rest of the Scions set during future events.

Now I've learned that this is not going to happen. Y'shtola, Papalymo, and Yda are not (presumably) going to be obtainable through events. Instead, I'll need to plunk down ten bucks for 'em. I can afford it, sure - but it irritates me how cynically calculating this was: your first hit is free, but if you wanna catch 'em all you're gonna have to pay!

I dunno yet whether my mild OCD is going to compel me to pony up, but if I do I'll have to worry about one additional concern: Do I dare actually show the things off in-game? Whether you agree that it's justified or not, it's clear that a lot of folks are upset about the cash shop. These folks are not likely to react kindly to folks showing off their purchases in-game, and there's no guarantee that these aren't folks I'll want to be cooperating with in the future.

I guess my question is what happened to Veteran rewards? Are we just going to get credit to buy things from the cash shop?

There was a vote, it was called fantasias and extra retainers. The cash shop only exists because of demand. Only a handful of people will unsub due to the cash shop, if any at all.

I personally don't have a problem with it, as long as it's just cosmetic. This is just my opinion, and I'm sure I'm about to get castrated for it.
