My idea for marriage

Now we all know there is a cash shop coming well at first id say no but marriage. Is well for looks it don't act help you in game so. Why not add a marriage pack say it runs 15 or 25$ it comes with a marriage pet for you and yours too rings papers that let you have a wedding outfits and last a 2 player marriage mount {both ppl can ride together and get them} why do i say pay for this? well one after housing and other bad moves on SE id hate to see marriage be like 22mill or something that kills it a cash shop be easy for all as only one has to pay and inv his or her or his his her her idc to marriage. I know lots will say noooo bad hell no but what do you do you think?:p

Why on EARTH would you suggest moving marriage to the cash shop when it's already planned to be implemented into the game without the added fee?? WAT.

Do you? Oh nah, lets just throw real money at it instead. I understand you may not have the resources/time to access certain things in game, but this just isin't the answer. Whatever they have planned, i'd be surprised if something like marriage turns out to be similar to the housing fiasco.

Why would you just not ask for it not to cost too much gil...

Announce a cash shop and people start asking we can pay for everything. See where the slippery slope argument comes from?

Like that other thread. "Please put this vanity stuff in the cash shop!!" why not just ask for the vanity stuff to be put in the game?

I don't think it'll be 22m or anywhere near housing prices, probably something more near starting a guild, maybe.

A big ol' quest line ending in a prettiful ceremony and closing with you and your significant other about to smooch when the camera pans up towards the sunset.

SE told players housing be much cheaper then fc spaces right? and look what happ you really want to ask them for it to be cheap go ahead all i'm saying is i don't mind spending real cash on stuff like this i understand ppl don't want to use real cash but its something that may happ you never know

SE adds a handful of unimportant items tied to real-world purchases and the entire forum goes into cash shop mania. Can we not do this? Seriously? Keep cash shops out of the picture for everything. I pay a monthly subscription to play the game. I've already paid more for it than I would have for several full priced adventure games by now, so no... we need no cash shop. Thank you.

The other thing that sounds horrible about "Eternal Bonding" is having to go on lodestone, set up a time from a list of available slots (which will probably fill quickly) so that the GM's can perform your ceremony... why is this so convoluted?? Why not just have an npc in the game that handles ALL of this? Why did we need to have schedules and times and busy-GM's to perform a ceremny. Especially if its not "marriage" as SE keeps implying but rather "eternal bonding."

Couldn't we just "apply" through an NPC and make the rings and trade everything to the NPC to initiate the ceremony?

Where did you get that from? That's exactly what they said would not happen. No GMs. All of it is organized in-game.

Yeah I swore I heard that. Ya its @ 4hr 26min 30secs roughly on the premium live stream video. Very convoluted process and its going to be extremely annoying to get a time slot considering how many players there are who probably want to use this system. It's not like we are doing ACTUAL marriages lol

Depends on mats required and level of crafter required. OFC as with any new craftable item, the first ones (plus associated mats) are going be sold off for quite a bit at first and then they'll drop rapidly in price after a few days as they settle into a more reasonable price.

Yay! OP seems to be another closed minded player who can't see anything in this game beyond raiding. Just because it doesn't help you level or defeat coil, doesn't give it any less reason to be out of the game and out of the subscription we are paying.

Vespar, in an interview (that happened at the end of fan fest) Yoshi said that the ceremonies won't be hold by GMs so technically, all you'll have to do is get yourself a timeslot (not that it'll be easy tho x3) ceremonies are reset every week, so it won't take ages to get one really, that is if you can make your reservation before the hound of hyena that camped on the lodestone for the very same reason :D

Good to know we don't have to wait for GM's to do this, I assumed it would be similar to FFXI's considering how similar he made it sound on the live letter. On the other hand you hit the nail on the head, it's going to be hell trying to get a time slot that works for you if you want to "bond". I still don't see why this couldn't have been entirely handled in-game. So, If the GM's aren't actually doing the ceremony, why does it need to be "scheduled" through the lodestone.

Thing is, he never mentioned the lodestone in the interview so maybe he made a mistake during the letter.

I support the current cash shop which sells some minions, mounts and fluff. But I hate your idea so much that if I could downvote it, I'd do so a million times.

Even though I do support the current cash shop, I'd rather it remain minimal as it is. Let's not put more stuff in it. And I hope SE keeps their promise of keeping the cash shop just for a few vanity fluff.

From the way they explained it and I understand it. You, your bondmate and your invitees will be whisked away into an instance. And since I assume they aren't making it a smallish instance I assume it's so that there won't be multiple such instances at the same time(I'm guessing there might be a limit on how many players can be invited but that's a detail I haven't noticed yet). So if anything it's a technical limitation than anything else.

I'm also thinking that the venues might be zones that are loaded just for that instance(sorta similar to the chimera one).

GE:You spoke briefly about the reservation system for the Eternal Bond ceremony. Will there be a faster system for people who don’t want a full ceremony? How will the system work?

Y: There will not be a faster system to avoid the reservation system, but the ceremony will not require GM support like what was needed in Final Fantasy XI. There will be a 2 hour window for each ceremony, which can be reserved by both players a week in advance. When the time comes,the people who received an invite will be taken to a waiting area, and the bride and groom will be taken to separate waiting areas where they can choose their costume, coloring and hairstyle. Then when both players accept then the ceremony starts. It is built to take promptly 2 hours. Once you have reserved the slot it is yours. The ceremonies are scheduled one week in advance, and they are planning on doing a weekly reset. It is reserved by talking to an NPC when the slots are opened up.

GE: Will there be any in-game fees for the ceremony?

Y: No, but you will need to craft a ring, so there could be market costs associated with that. Free Companies might make the rings as a wedding gift for example.

I'm not much of a role player, but making it feel like a real marriage makes it all that much more special.

Because she (?) thinks that it'd be hard to obtain in game, which SE intentionally do so so players like her ask stuff to be in the cash shop so they can say "we added because players asked" :D

Actually, no. I'm the sort to know that we are getting screwed over. How? We are currently paying them anyway to develop content anyway but they wish to charge us for it. If they want to develop content and charge, then remove or significantly lower the subscription. Also, they would have to put in content of ALL types if they do that, end game stuff too even though I am highly against it. Why? because it gives every player a chance to pick and choose what they want in their game be it vanity, raids, or whatever other content is available.

SE are making money off us anyway. Giving them more money won't encourage them to make the game any better. They will just realise how easy people like you are to get money out of and continue to do what they are doing for their own financial gain. Yes, I understand that's the point of a company, to make money, but they would also need to keep their consumer base happy. To make them happy, they then need to know when they are not happy.

As stated by others, if you want to give SE your money, buy stock, buy some of their other games. FFXI is still going, why not subscribe to that and just not play it? Or make a second FFXIV account and not play that either. You're having the benefit of giving them your money and you still get all the content. Problem solved, right?

Uh.... anyone also thinking about making money as a in-game divorce lawyer, after this marriage implementation?

I think some cash shop as an alternative for some items if I choose to buy them for weddings would be nice to have. I have general concern when I saw what they said about the ring and crafters. Now when ever Square has a chance to make you happy with something and it should totally be simple.. They instead do something to it that makes you want to pull your hair out. I do have concern about what the ring will be made our of.. what if its a treasure coffer drop.. what if only new 4 star crafters can make it. Now before you say out loud to us "Square wouldn't do something that mean"

I honestly would be ok paying Square for an alternative. We could have both it wouldn't bother me.

But I also think ppl who choose this service and get chosen by square to be allowed should be locked out of for a long time (more than was insinuated at fanfest)

Feel so much better then everyone else? i was helping someone out and it worked out for me as well so? look i was just saying something id like to see not saying it was something that had to be done. But if i were you id not fear the cash shop since it is coming do i want it? no but it's going to be there will i use it? maybe if there's something cool i like. And you ask why i say the crafting may be a mess? who knows what we will need to craft the rings what if its very very rare and runs players 5mill just for a part to craft? that was my point in game marriage needs to be easy and fun not something you need to work left n right for i only said cash shop as it be easy and something anyone can do.
