RDM? (Artbook image)

Taken from reddit (the image) people are speculating on the possibility of red mage being on the FFXIV art book cover :eek: Thoughts?

Obviously, but she's using a rapier. There are no rapiers in the game right now, and they're the iconic weapon of RDM.

Fencer only appear in Ivalice games and it is a job required to RDM so the rapier is much more of an icon for RDM than fencer. ( Think of fencer as a RDM wanabee )

I sure hope it is NOT Dark Knight .... Dark Knight with a Rapier feels awkward.

What ti could be though. Rune Fencer or Red Mage. Both have Rapier Class Sword :D

Pretty sure the one you labelled as Monk is actually the Paladin, and then the ??? Ninja is the Monk. The Dark Knight is the guy in front with the large sword, and then the woman with the rapier is a new class, most likely rune fencer or blue mage.

I really hope its RDM and with any luck it is exactly like XI RDM. Would be so fun to hear the discussion about RDM Melee for another ten years.

Or perhaps Refresh could have a different take.

It's much longer and thinner than Curtana is, and there is a distinct lack of a shield, not to mention none of the other jobs there have their relics, so you can't assume that's what it is. Logically it would make sense to be putting their new jobs in the spotlight too, right in the center under the logo. It's all just speculation though, that just seems much more like a two handed sword to me than a one handed.

Anyone look at the 3.0 cover art and notice the onion knight-esc feathers coming out of the helmets? *wink wink*

take a closer look at the mages on the bottom, both seem to wield their relics, as well as whm having Highallagan robe

The BLM and WHM absolutely have weapons resembling their Relics. You are correct though; that looks nothing like the currently implemented Curtana. It could still be one of the earlier concepts for Curtana, though.

that is ms derplander, also known as F realm reborn, it is the female model of the main character they tend to show in most art works she has a full CGI render and was meant to be random on if it was male derplander or fem derplander to symbolise the different genders the hero could be, in the end she wasn't used in much besides artwork :3

Trust me, if I never see the spells Refresh or Haste on a player character in FFXIV, it'll still be too soon.

How is it most likely blue mage?

Not to deviate off topic too much, but can these be purchased anywhere online as of yet? If so, how and where? I appreciate any info. anyone gives on this tyvm.

OT: I would love if RDM came to Eorzea. Rapiers are just their forte, and would fit quite well with their type of aesthetic at least.

The art book is only available at the fanfests for now..I imagine they will put it on their store after the JP one? But who knows :)

i'd wish! they did say "Multiple new jobs"!

I really hope it's Red Mage. *fingers crossed* it's the only job I want to play and I feel incomplete w/o it in game

If they add it, I sure hope it's not a healer.

RDM is a job of freedom. Not bound by the defining roles of the white mage, black mage, or warrior (offensive melee), it has the freedom to do all three. Of the roles we have, DPS is the one that offers the most freedom. Healer is a pretty restrictive role that comes with the expectation that you will heal before anything else. Let RDM have its freedom!

Yes but they are introducing too many dps classes if they don't go this route. Too many dps = job inbalance...unless they introduce something like chemist, RDM is the only other option at this point, and makes the most sense considering all the viable jobs throughout FF history. It's going to be bad enough with the launch of 2.4 and the 5 brillion ninjas that are gonna be running around.

Also FF14 operates on a WoW system, with the Dev team confirming there is no intent of adding a pure support class, or a freedom job as you call. Every job they will introduce will have a certain role, either DPS/Healer/Tank. I'm also hoping they make DRK a tank, cuz we also need a new tank in this game.

I think the fact we have a dps job that can lower its dps output to offer support disagrees with this. Yes, BRD is expected to dps, but that's not its only role. It's also a support job, as situational as its support may be.
