i am. Always have been. There's nothing wrong with offering optional services for a little extra money. their announced prices are a fraction of competetors too.
I personally see no bad to come of it, the existence of a cash shop does not automatically result in the non-existence of in-game additions. Yes, they'll likely add more minions and mounts as time goes on, as well as vanity stuff (like last year's Halloween goods), but that doesn't automatically mean that they'll never add anything directly into the game as well. I welcome anything that generates as much revenue as possible for this team, because that makes the game thrive, no matter what. Even if it "goes to just line their pockets" that's profit either way, and that shows SE that people WANT to play this game, and that is a GOOD thing.
None. There isn't anything positive about it, unless you have way too much money, and buying the items with real money is more enjoyable to you, than actually playing the game and earning them.
Some people will tell you that the income from the cash shop will make the game better for everyone.
Personally, I think those people just don't realize that the stuff they're buying from the cash shop was made using our subscription money and should have been put in the game for us to aquire in the first place, not sold for more money. From now on, some development hours will flow into making minions, mounts etc. for sale in the cash shop, hours that would have otherwise flown into making minions, mounts etc. for us to earn in-game.
So far, I felt like paying our subscription granted us access to everything the game had to offer. Well, not anymore, now.
More vanity options. Not having them take up spots on loot tables for mobs, recipes for crafters, drops from chests etc etc they can go nuts and have a ton of different options.
More money for SE? If it helps them stay in the black, well, they continue to exist, put out products, and we continue to consume their products. Everyone wins?
Obtain missable items. Quit for a few months and missed those events? Well, now you don't have to wait a year for the event to roll around again to pick those items up.
Don't play much but still want some cool looking minions? Well, you don't have to spend what little time you play earning gil to buy that minion for 10 million gil. Just 5 dollars.
Same for mounts and other vanity items, I suppose.
Well, we don't know what kind of limitations they have on the backend when it comes to how many recipes they can actually create/store for each class. Just saying, it's potentially a benefit.
disclaimer: These are just the pros I could think of. I don't support the idea of a cash shop, but I'm not blind to the fact that there are pros/cons to almost everything in life.
Wrong. Subscription fee -only- pays for your access to the servers of the game. It does not entitle you to anything more than their game, and the patch updates. Are you going to attack them for making you buy Heavensward as well?
I don't even see the point of the "less crafting" You can't craft the ghost costumes anyways.
I really want NASA astronaut space suit vanity/glamor and SPACE SHUTTLE ROCKET mount. :)
Basically ridiculous cash shop content that breaks the lore, e.g. boxer gloves(monk), candy cane(lancer), etc.
Maybe housing will be added to the cash shop? Could explain why housing is so expensive.
Where did I say that? I pay my sub to play the game and get the content patches. Pretty sure I never implied "being lucky" for not having to pay for the patches as well, nice try in spinning my words around though dear
Can be inferred upon by looking at the minion(pet) costs
here, or here Just to name a few
Technically, boxer gloves could fit in, as a throwback to one of the monsters in FF7 (and I forget what other FF's, I know there's more than one though), a goblin you fight in a forest, wears green boxer shorts and red boxer gloves
Not pro, but not against.
Will become very against if it becomes pay to win, though.
I am all for a cash shop so long as it remains Vanity and no pay-to-win. Which Yoshi-P expressly stated in the stream so Im happy with that.
I would be pro cash shop if they drop the p2p model and go b2p.
i can't remember the exact prices, it was all shown during the fanfest live letter though, so if you can find a recording of that you'll be able to see. Nothing cost anything rediculous though, the minions were only like... £3 each i think. And the mount was around £5? i may be wrong, but i recall something along those lines.
I am not pro per say. But I am certainly not against it ^_^ I look forward to seeing what they add next.
As long as it remains strictly Vanity and the prices remain reasonable then I am all for it!
Some people are just way too salty. As long as the purchasable items don't interfere with the gameplay in any way I'll be happy. I personally enjoy having the option to spend $5-10 on things like fantasia potions or glamor items. People keep bringing up how some of us just want to buy something and not earn it in game so it's not worth having; That's your opinion, so leave it at that.
As long as they continue to add hairstyles/glamour items in-game the way they have so far and use the cash shop on top of that, I think people will calm down and get over it. I'm pro cash shop but I'd hate to see every new glamour/hair/dye/etc go there.
I'm in favor of it, I guess. I'm hopeful that it will eventually mean more vanity and hairstyles and whatever other customizations. Basically what I mean is, if the overall total number of vanity/customization items increases then I'll be happy.
there, found it you can find images of their cash shop screens here I would have just hot linked but chrome said no XD
I had the pumkin head and ghost things mixed around on prices =p
as long as the keep it vanity/old event items im ok with it
i know people that bought soundtrack disc, the premium stream etc just so the can have the in-game goodie so i dont rly see the difference..heck it might even save some ppl money this way lol
"their game"
...
I.. just... c'mon really? You really don't see it?
Also, Heavensward is not small bits of mounts and vanity, its a massive content dump and next chapter/stage of a story that could be standalone. Of course it'll be blended in with our current main story but its focus is on Ishgard and its war, not what we just did/been doing during vanilla.
I'm not really sure why some people are fine with being charged on top of their subscription for the kind of content that has been a driving force for progression, trade, crafting, and intentional instance revisits.
I don't really get why people are fine with double dipping period. It's a very blatantly greed driven practice, and accepting it only encourages more consumer manipulation practices. They only have to change a little bit at a time. Get you acclimated. Let you find excuses for the small stuff till you're eventually totally fine with it. It's happened before with other industries.
Hell, did you know cable used to be commercial free?
Microtransactions are so crazy overpriced 99% of the time too. 1/100th of an expansion pack for 1/5th the price? It doesn't take a physicist to see that doesn't match up. And adding that with a subscription is just clawing through the sofas.
I cannot abide by this sort of behavior at all. Even if XIV turned out to be my favorite game of all time. I can't see double dipping as anything but a seriously low practice all around.
Why would you allow that to happen to you?
Wasn't this meant to be a thing today? o.O
Who's gameplay? Or are you saying that everyone plays for the same reasons you do?
So, as long as they have similar items in-game, it's ok? How about an exclusive instance? There are after all other instances with other gear/items. And not everyone plays for the instances.Quote:

As soon as they announced it, I just thought "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"
So while all these complaints happen and people quit because of something they can easily ignore, I will sit in town with my Y'shtola minion before I take off on my Slepnir mount.
There are so many Chicken Littles spouting wild-ass assumptions about the vanity cash shop and prattling on about how it's going to devour the game's soul that it's a miracle the forums haven't crashed under the unmitigated tide of bitching and caterwauling.
It's this simple:
If, following the cash shop's release, there is a corresponding reduction of new vanity items introduced to the game in comparison to previous patches while the cash shop inventory grows, by all means raise a stink. It may or may not change their business direction, but there'll at least be a point to be made.
If the game continues to be updated as usual and player-crafted glamours continue to be in demand despite additions to the cash shop, then there probably wasn't anything to get worked about in that regard.
If future cash shop additions turn out to be mostly legacy content or existing premium content (e.g. Moogle Attire, Loyalty cosmetics) made available in another way, then it will be hard to claim that "prepaid" development time is being diverted for this purpose.
Basically there are a lot of ifs, so it would be nice if people left their silly slippery slope arguments and other nonsense at the door and just waited to see what's coming before taking up arms, celebrating, or continuing not to care much either way.
AAAAAAALL this QQing about a shop that sells ingame items.
This "you have to earn it" ... stop it.. no stop it.. what is wrong with you. "Earn it" for Special minions and mounts?
Are you guys just whining in hope someone offers you cheese and crackers?
In which world do you life that "Buying a mount or a minion" equals Pay to win? You dont win anything by that but a minion or mount that is as usefull as every other non companion chocobo or minion ... not at all, it just looks different.
You don't want it? dont use it.
You are NOT entitled to get a free Yshtola minion, you are not entitled to get a Sleipnir mount.
I wouldn' buy the slepinir though .... missing several legs.
I love cash shops, for mounts and such. If there is a mount that I really like and want, I would rather work ~2 hours at ~minimum wage for a guaranteed mount that I could have that night instead of farming an extreme primal for hours and hours on end with a 1% drop rate rolling against 7 other people (also assuming that any farm group you get with is competent to run multiple times). You could run that primal 100 times flawlessly, get a 1% drop rate and only have a 1/8 chance of winning it. Then you do it another 100 times.
If you are super speedrunning and clear the primal in 5 minutes, 5*100=500/60 ~= 8 hours of farming for a statistically one time drop. This is also doing the same exact thing over and over.
At minimum wage (and assuming they go by WoW's pricing for mounts of ~20), you could have gotten around 4 mounts guaranteed in that time.
I'm 100% for CS as long as it stick with vanity stuff, or if the in-game bonuses are very meager.
I just really, really hope certain vanity things don't become available there; even things I don't have. Examples include the legacy chocobo (despite the fact I really want one) and the cait sith minion. They should stick to being legacy and pre-order exclusives.
With that said I desperately hope they don't recycle previous pre-order goodies ever again. The PS4 was understandable because the PS3 kinda stinks for FFXIV, but I really don't want my kitty to be meaningless. You know? *pets kitty plushie*
+ on Pro Cash-Shop
+ on getting the Pets and the Odin Mount on rls date :)
