Cross over Vanity in Mogstation

Yes another thread about buying items from mog station, but this isn't a complain thread.

I was thinking recently why SE would want to STRESS/implement vanity only in the shop. Most people think it is a simple extra income, which sure that is part of it, but we aren't going to get into that. I believe that part of the reason SE wants to use mog station is to give us Vanity that does not fit within FF14 lore/story but is said to been discovered by a "Strange Merchant".

Thus, this thread is to get SE to utilize the shop to give us vanity from other SE titles w/o having it conflict with lore. (I.E no need to give us a lightning ff13 story in game thus ruining lore.)

Cross over vanity that would be nice to see in the shop: (Not in order of importance)

1. Drakengard 1-3 (Outfits from 3 please ;D)
2. Final Fantasy Series (yes because people love being xfavcharx)
3. Kingdom Hearts
4. Dragon Quest
5. Deus Ex
6. Tombraider
7. Chrono Trigger/Cross
8. Super Mario RPG

Have any others? Please list below!

I now want the coat for Deus Ex Human Revolution, and Loto's armor. Will pay, eff it.

Not to mention chrono trigger... And Geno minion!!!!!

omg a geno minion would be epic. (we are talking LotSS geno right?)

I really don't think Tomb Raider would fit...

All FF past games should have main character vanity sets and others as well. Id love to be able to have Squalls coat ^^

This being a Final Fantasy game, I don't really like outside influences protruding that. I still have a bit of an issue with the Dragon Quest stuff being in the game from a lore perspective.

You want Final Fantasy stuff? Great! But I would really appreciate it if all the other stuff was left out.

I'm somewhat indifferent because I wouldn't mind outfits from other games. We already can make ourselves look weird in game, solid gold dyes.... ect... ect...

Gold armor has been a thing in Final Fantasy for a long time, though, so that's not really immersion breaking, especially since gold is a material that exists in FFXIV already.

The problem lies when a game in a technological, fashion, and socioeconomic era comparable to the Renaissance Era starts having more and more modernized clothes or clothes that look otherworldly by comparison. It's already a stretch to include FFXIII gear, and will continue to be a stretch if gear from FFVII or FFVIII is ever included, but I would just like to keep this stuff more in-franchise, at least for now.

I won't lie and say I can truly, honestly justify my reasoning why non-Final Fantasy gear should be allowed, because the only rational excuse is "Because it's a Final Fantasy game", and even that got broken with the "Breaking Brick Mountains" event. I just don't think I'll like a bunch of people running around dressed like Lara Croft, Magus, Geno, and Sora all over the place.

^ I can respect that. Maybe if they do cross-over gear they will keep it tasteful and not completely lore breaking/out-of-place.

Would love all these Vanity options but seriously where do you put them all. I would hope that SE would address the lack of inventory we have. Give us an armoire or something like it for our personal spaces and increase inventory allotment in Armory. They could simply make a separate armory for crafts and for Disciples of War and Magic which would help a lot. What we have now is so limiting all these extras aren't really something we can enjoy.

I wonder if the cash shop stuff will be bound or if we will be able to gift Minions and Mounts upon our friends.

As to the OP, I wouldn't mind some crossover stuff if they can make it fit within FFXIV world. ^^

All part of their master plan to get us to buy more retainers... XD
I caved and bought a retainer to go from 2 -> 3
I already have a legacy subscription so it was cheap enough for me to do so anyways.

If I know cash shops, what could happen is that they would have a gift option before purchase and, upon purchase, it would be sent to that person.

That way, items can still be gifted, but they will still be bound so that people won't sell them on the Market Board.

This idea is the worst I've yet seen on these forums.

I have 3 retainers and it's still an issue. Also I want to be able to run around with the options (clothing) and hot have to continually access a retainer whenever I want to do something. I have no problem paying for an additional retainer or two but accessing content shouldn't have to be a chore. I've been passing on most of the new dungeon gear because I don't really have a place for it. Those who level multiple roles (with new ones coming) as well as do crafting really shouldn't be made to suffer with a serious lack of inventory.

Hmm perhaps they can give us more slots to our armory? I switch vanity often but I don't have an issue going back and forth... with the exception being my armoire in the inn-room. (I feel we should have one in our house)

I understand that to some extent...But the "era" of this game is super anachronistic. Calling it Renaissance is nearly as wrong as calling it Victorian, you know? There's a lot of higher-technology magi-tech stuff going on with Allagan and the Garleans. We've got planes and trains. Even the fanciest FF7/8/13 technology seems like it would fit in via one of those two civilizations.

It's one of those "you know it doesn't fit when you see it" kind of things where there's not really any hard and fast rules.

That's why I have a hard time justifying it from that perspective. It's hard because that is a valid point. But unless there are rules on how to glamour something tastefully before it is purchased (which will never happen as glamours are all subjective), if stuff like this does go on sale, there are going to be a lot of immersion-breaking things going on. A ton of players dressed up like characters from other series running around in Eorzea. Imagine: fifty people in a single area all dressed exactly like Sora. I don't want that. But I can't fairly say "ban all of the non-Final Fantasy stuff because I don't like it".

To put them straight into the cash shop with no event would create situations where players run around in non-FF gear in a FF game with literally no reason for that gear being there.

I want NASA space station astronaut space suit, please add to list. I also want space shuttle mount to ride throughout Eorzea with, thanks.

They could have a message/mail from an "Eerie Merchant" saying the outfit you request has been finished! Here is the finished product adventurer!

Let's take an outfit like squall's for example. It is a pretty generic leather jacket/black pants look to it. Surprise we already have leather in game! In fact we get this crazy Allagan Biometal that looks like leather gear in raids but takes an armor to repair! Garleans already use gunblades/gunlances, they have magitek armor, iron giants, iron claws, and our weapons have glows on them! If a basic outfit that has simple materials as the base was added, I don't see how that would be lore breaking while the weapon that glows with the power of a million suns is walking right beside you.

"Tomb raider*, Super mario" XD... The death of FFXIV as I know it - please do not do this stuff.

*Tomb raider like gear might actually fit in a Midgar/Garlean like cityscape so.. maybe later - but introducing content from other games as that game ("Mario bestows his plumber hat to you") has a bunch of lore implications and not in a good way. Will just be cheap and cheesy.

To be fair, there are ALREADY plenty of people trying to gear their characters up like characters from other games. I've seen a very well-done Mario Lalafell picture floating around, for instance. So, having costumes like this would simply change the situation from "gear sets that kinda look like character X" to "gear sets that very much look like character X".

I'm not really in favor of having a cash shop, but if we do have one I'd MUCH prefer it to be stocked with lore-independent offerings like this, rather than miss out on, say, a Sleipnir mount or Primal-themed vanity armor. That kinda thing is FFXIVesque, and should be acquireable within FFXIV proper.

Ooooh primal themed vanity armor. I would totally buy that.

Those would be something that should be in the game. Like "10 garuda feathers + _____" to craft a garuda feathered body piece.

I know no ones probably ever heard of this game but how about Threads of Fate/Dewprism vanity gear and hair? It's an old Squaresoft action RPG.

I have to agree with this here. As convenient as it might be to just buy it, if it can be reasonably crafted by crafters, it should be craftable by crafters.

Ya know.. if there was a Magus (Chrono Trigger) costume I would totally have my glamour forever. It would likely be the only thing I would ever use the evil cash shop for.

This. They added a storyline for Lightning Quest gear, so that was fine. If they continue to find ways to do this I would be okay with it but letting people buy outfits just to dress up like Cloud. and let's be honest there would be hundreds, would ruin a large aspect of the lore and immersion for me. let's not turn this game into one of the older games. Let's keep it FFXIV.

The glamour system has already placed immersion pretty firmly into the toilet, with Paladins tanking in a bikini and snowman head while spanking the mob with a wooden paddle (ok, Macuahuitl, a legitimate weapon, but still...). I don't think that being able to dress up like Cloud will do a lot to change that and, to be honest, while you'd see a lot of Clouds running around at first, the novelty would die off pretty quick and they'd fall to more reasonable levels.

And, to be perfectly fair, nothing Cloud wears is all that far removed from stuff we see folks in-game wearing, so the loss of immersion is purely because you recognize him as a character from another game. Not that that isn't a legitimate reason to feel a loss of immersion, but lore-wise it amounts to little more than finding a creative tailor.
