Amnesia debuff, never knew it was in this game

So playing this game for a year and some months, you'd think I know and seen what all the debuffs are, right? Well...turns out I still learn some new things to this day. I knew when you fight Amon, letting the green slimes reach him causes the entire alliance to be inflicted with Silence. Turns out that purple slimes, which I hardly paid attention to, cause a different effect if they reach Amon. AMNESIA! From what I experienced, Amnesia disables abilities. This actually made it a bit challenging for me since I had Cleric Stance on and cold not turn it off D:

Now I wish there were more raids with challenging situations like that.

Yup, I've had this hit me and been like Oh god what do I do! And since I play on a PS3 with no mouse it's a hassle to tab around till I can get up to the status bar and find out wtf I got hit with.

I bet that's a warm-up for what's coming in the final Coil. They often have "practice mechanics", like the jumping platforms in Glasya Labolas look similar to the preview of one of the new Turns. Placing meteors in King Behemoth is similar to T9's, and activating towers like in T8, etc.

Its actually in Dzemael Darkhold, the first boss. One of the Eye's AoEs applies it.

Hold L1 and press R3 for a mouse. Same to disable. L2 = lfet click, R2 = right click, Right stick moves the cursor IIRC. To disable L1+R3 again and then press select and Circle to remove the cursor from the screen. Can use this mouse to hover over stuff to see what they do.

Don't one of the paladin abilities also apply amnesia?

Its called Pacify in game not Amnesia. Lots of mobs have it, like all the ones that do Swinge.

If you look in the screenshot provided by the OP, the debuff is Amnesia. Pacify does the same thing, but perhaps the main difference is the amount of time the debuff lasts (pacify doesn't last very long, WAR gets 6 seconds pacified from it's skill, PLD can pacify an enemy for 6 seconds, I assume Swinge and other moves are 6 seconds as well, but there's at least 12 seconds of Amnesia).

Anyone remember Amnesia in FFXI? I hated that, made dancer utterly useless if you got hit with it =/

Pacification only works on Weapon Skills.(You can still ,buff,heal IIRC,stance change,) You're Pacified so no aggression.

Amnesia works on All abilities period. You forget how to do anything.

GLA can pacify monster:
Shield-Swipe
MRD get pacified as an after effect Berserk

Finally I know what it does, being a WHM on console has its issues like figuring out what condis do in the heat of the moment. Slightly off topic but what on earth does misery do??

No you can still cast spells (Cure, Bio, etc.) with Amnesia.

Amnesia = Pacification (can't use weaponskills) + Restriction of abilities (Cleric Stance, Virus, Sword Oath etc.).
Silence = Can't cast spells.
Paralyze = Can cancel any spell/weaponskill/ability/auto-attack.

Amnesia existed in this game before already; the first boss of Darkhold can inflict it.

Ignnis, misery is a debuff that increases the damage taken by the target. You can remove it with the /comfort emote, and the gremlins in lost city that use it will often hurl insults before using it. Poor things dont realize telling me to "go bugger myself" is just going to get rewarded with a flare.

Yeah, I actually loved the gremlins just for that, I hope they implement more mechanics like this.

Nope. Amnesia only disables abilities, not weaponskills nor spells. It disables things like Shroud of Saints, Sacred Soil, Berserk, Sentinel, and all the other actions labeled as an ability. :)

Pacification is basically "silence" for non magic users in a nutshell.

And I really didn't know about Amnesia being applied in a dungeon earlier. Mainly because I don't recall it happening o.o
