Dual boxin breakng the rules? how players have an unfair advantage.

It is not stated clearly in the rules if running more then one pc and two separate accounts in an attempt to have you main character reap a the rewards.
these are the methods being used:
1.have you mule tag along quest, leves, behest for extra gil then transfer gil to main character
2. sell your main characters merchandise on another account then transfer the gil back to main character. this wil allow players to have an unlimited number of retainers while other players can barely get any in the wards.
3. use you 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th.... characters anima to teleport your main character for what seems like an endless amount of anima.

I find this to be an exploit of SE's decision not to charge us and therefore consider it cheating. So is it cheating or not.


I just wanted to add that this does not break any rules, i was wondering if you think it should be a rule. I know it would be imposable to regulate but that's not my point. There are several rules in place that are very hard to regulate yet most people abide by them simply cause it is a rule and most people have a good sense of morality.

While I do not approve this behavior as well, I do not see how they can track dual-boxing and sanction it.

Maybe it will die down a bit when they start charging monthly fees for the account... There will always be crazy people willing to pay for multiple accounts, but there should be less than if the game is free.

some rules can simply be enforced by morality. people openly admit to doing it because it is not against the rules. most LS's don't tolerate rule breaking and therefore if SE would say if it was against the rules some people may stop. I know this wouldn't stop everyone but it would stop some i think.

I don't see why dualboxing is breaking the rules really, it can make it unfair for those with only 1 pc with 1 account but if that person has multiple PC and can dual/multiple play characters that's one way too no?

+ they had to pay for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th package to dual/multi play + once pay to play starts they end up paying all the monthly fees for each char... I knew someone in FFXI who had enough money to do that and not even work... lucky guy...

In the past I used my wife's char after she slept to transfer items to my 2nd character on my account (damn wish it's not 4 item slots per trade + where is delivery system...) it's pain in the butt to transfer items... takes too much time... did the transfer maybe at start of the game and never done it since lol.

As for getting double,triple rewards from leve's from using dual/multi box. I think those kind of stuff needs to be addressed like... have to make sure every player in leve is actually fighting or something. Noticed with crystal and shards they changed so it shows only those that was involved in the battle gets them, think that was for the RMT's carrying 10-15 mules following them at camps while they farm... I still see them though :(

Anima teleport I guess it's advantage for them, I see no harm with this one... wish I can do it like them... for me and my wife we just have different teleport points we go normally as favorite so we spend less but we're still under 50 anima points currently... I'm under 35 now after 1.18 patch lol.

i dont care if someone wants to play both characters, but when people create another account just to use the anima no account #2, and have their #2 account tag along quest.leves, and behest for no other reason then the gil bonus thats what bothers me.

Its a fine line for sure.

also i will not argue with anyone on this matter everyone is entitled to an opinion.

its not cheating, its me using my resources that i have at my disposal

they are seperate accounts, and when the game goes p2p i will have the choice of keeping them or paying for them
of course im not gonna keep them, but im gonna max out how many retainers im allowed to have on 1 account, itl be the same thing

Yeah if they are tagging along their 2nd+ account for the rewards without doing s*** or so little on the 2nd+ then that's a problem for sure. If they use the 2nd+ account say... probably hard to do but actual party play by him/herself then I don't see why not but again it's not something easy to do unless their is a bot that can make 2nd+ char into magical AI character that cures, fights mobs with you w.

I see no problem in dual boxing at all. If the player feels like playing with himself instead of with other players, its up to him to do so. In FFXI i played alot this way...the fail battle system allowed me to play up to 6 characters at same time with 1 macro per character...and i was able to fight, heal...even SC and MB...all in 1 macro per character.

Once they add a /follow the potential dual boxing dissemination will start again...and will end like FFXI...who never heard there an "Damn! i agree, if a player wants to "play"2 accounts go ahead. Its the players who exploit the fact the 2nd accounts are free and they have them only to benefit from the rewards and what not. You can have a mule sit at the ath and he will get gil bonus off every leve you do.

Well, IMO its not cheating. Saying dual boxing is cheating is the same as saying storage mules are cheating...they're not. Cheating is using something that is not part of the game to take advantage...like buying gil from RMTs or botting. Multiple accounts is perfectly legal and actually a very valid idea in any MMO. If the player uses his mule to teleport or used leves to link on his, its all valid...any character can teleport someone else or link a leve with someone else...he being the owner of both accounts does not turn it into cheating.

EDIT: Well, this does is a problem...actually its the way RMTs work...one kill and all others receive gil from leve-sharing...but its still legal....that's why even tho everybody know they're RMT they're still there...until they get someone buying that gil they farmed they cannot do a thing because ToS does not deny this behavior. However, i do think they should restrict leve-sharing and behest reward to those that actually took part in the event...if you was at aetheryte all the time you actually receive nothing...if there were 10 monsters and you engaged only one you receive 10% of the full reward...

Think this is a generally accepted practice on all MMOs, be it for extra healing during solo, storage muling...

There is a somewhat morale question at the moment simply because people can do it for 'free', but once the game goes pay to play I'm sure it will die down and not be much of an issue. If you pay for it, then go for it I suppose.

Well, yep...what can i say if its true...some people do prefer making party with their mules instead of other players...its fact. The harder it is to find a party the bigger the chance of this happening...and over time it just become an habit. ^^:

they already do its classic RMT behavior in this game. make a train, have them all have guildleve's, while you have the highest character in the train blow threw it. 6 Characters in a train. x 7 guildleve's each character, is 42 leves. lets say the highest payout is 2500 for a r10 run that's 105,000 Gil at r20 the payout is doubled/tripled netting you an easy 300,000+ per run its destroying the games economy.

Its not worth trying to control for SE like has been said they make money from it once the game goes p2p and just because 2 accounts are used from the same address it might not be the same people playing them. When my brother started playing xi as well i did some dual box pling with dunes parties. Mostly when a party couldnt get the needed setup to fight without it, i found dual boxing got a bit disorientating x.x

While it's true that once the game goes P2P, with how things are now and how freely the botters, dual boxers etc can just amass guild (to the tune of 300k+per LEVE to quote an earlier post here)...

Let's just say that "Incredibly Terrible in-game Economy makes entry level play difficult for new players due to RMT instigated price fixing and inflation" reviews poorly. I don't know anyone who wants to be halfway to the end game and still running in rags.

What I find bothersome is the reasoning many people follow when it comes to ignoring this problem, that is... that we have no in-game economy to truly speak of right now. This is true for now, but what do we do later when we GET a proper in-game economy and the RMT and botters who stored up billions of gil during the last 10 months just destroy it?

This dead horse again, eh? It's nothing to do with 'exploiting' anything, there is NOTHING in the ToS or EULA that bans playing more than one account at a time.

SE have allowed this with FFXI since its release .. they even make it easy with /follow which, frankly has few other uses apart from allowing one player to AFK while another leads them somewhere.

There are rules about not using 'botting' tools or automating play but simply playing two (or more) accounts isn't a problem.

The government should put out a law that you will be put to jailed for owning two separate computers! It's breaking the law, it gives people an unfair advantage! Likewise for everything you can own!

I don't see why dual/multi-boxing can be breaking the rules. Getting double/triple/multiple the amount of gil? They are also paying double/triple/multiple the fee. If you are so worried about gil inflation, let's ask SE to make one whole server open only to yourself.
