So... No news in 2.4 ?

I have heard about ranked for 2.4... But reading the only answer PvP on the questions ...
I see nothing of what I expected ... There is Ranked but when nothing tells us ...

For a year that the players of the wolf's den ... How can you expect out bullshit, "train yourself still forehead as the players that make the arena are too loud" damn ... that's the object of the game! It will ALWAYS stronger than other people ...

In short, we really feel of being taken for idiots ...
How long will we still have to wait to see a good update for the arena ? 1 year, 2 years ...? Square Enix is doing everything to lose the few people who really like PvP on this game ...

Its not really so true as you think.

Yoshi-P has stated that he is an avid PvPer and would love nothing more than to expand PvP in FFXIV. The issue with expanding and increasing it is that it requires working out new mechanics, making sure the server can handle the new PvP modes or larger scale PvP, such as territory wars or siege with as much of a lag free experience as possible. (seriously, have you seen how lagy the game can get when everyone gathers for doing the Odin/behemoth fates and hunts?)

EDIT: Yoshi could always make the call to beef up the servers so it can support larger scale PvP to a better extent but then that cant be the only deciding factor as it would cost alot of money. Eh... *shrugs*

Also, as a general footnote, the dev's probably have something scheduled for expanding PvP. If they don't though then we may probably see expanded PvP on a large scale when the 3.0 build comes out. I dont think the Dev's have given up or are not planning to expand PvP, I just think that they may be working on something but they have other content they need to work on and push out. At least we get 2.4 in the next week or so.

For a year we have a poor arena with nothing behind ... the mass pvp is for noobs ... When something as true PvP players have been waiting for a year .. !!

Yes 2.4 comes with that PvE content ... if you do not appear interested in PvE more than that? It is not a priority for us? We love pvp first? We just go fuck right?

I am just saying, as my main point, is to give them a chance. it's only been what? like a year since 2.0 build of FFXIV was released? They have made amazing strides in that short time frame/period and have been more responsive to their player community than most developers and groups are. Don't sell them short, as they are listening and they are trying their best to give us as much quality content as possible.

If they do not add more than 10 ranks and pvp gear that goes with it ... it is clearly making fun of the mouth of the PvP community that continues to wait and wait a decent PvP content ...
As far apart listen to pveboys and pvp newbies who are just do the front for glamor ... the true pvp players has put away for a year when no one is listening ...

I will agree with you though that PvP is lacking terribly. 2.3, we saw frontlines released and aside from PvP exp and the wolves den gear and the warhorse mount you can get from playing it, there is incentive to do little else save grinding for soldiery if you felt like it.

They really need to release more variations of PvP that most modern MMO's have by the 3.0 build release, otherwise, they may see a significant decline of players who hunger for solid and fun modern PvP, famous examples they could and should implement being PK zones, territory wars and castle sieges.

On a small, separate foot note, I will say though that the Japanese PvP community has been having a blast with their PvP experience. Probably just a different mentality and mindset where they live.

Just like real PvErs are the ones who down a boss then pass on all the loot, because real PvErs do not need any rewards for downing a boss.

Just like how real crafters do not need to receive items from crafting, becuase real crafters do not need any rewards from going through the numbers game.

Just like how real gathers do not need items from nodes, because real gatherers do not need any rewards for running around and clicking on stuff.

PvM and PvP are two different things buddy. In games long past, PvPers needed nothing but the reward of killing other players as an incentive for PvPing at all. There is no purpose in killing other players besides having fun doing so. The point of doing dungeons/raids, crafting, and gathering items (aka the 3 things you listed) is in order to get items that help your character. So your obviously sarcastic post has no point.

Nah, I was not the one calling out the invalidity of someone's 'true pvper' status. It is very legit to want to get rewarded from doing something that takes time and effort. I am not sure of any long-standing PvP games where there is not /some/ reward in it for the players, either through gear, vanity, titles, or whatever.

I love pvp, I consider myself a hardcore pvper. I am rank 40, no win-trading, what have you. Did I enjoy the gear that I unlocked as I PvPed? Yes, quite. Do I enjoy my horse mount? Yes, quite. I continued PvPing even after receiving rank 40 and receiving the gear I want, but now the amount of time that it takes to get into a PvP match (1-2+ hours) is not worth it for 3-30 minutes of PvP 'fun'. Do I want more rewards? Yes, I enjoy them. It gives others incentives to play, keeping queue times short. Do I consider myself 'not a real pvper'? No, not in the slightest.

You think Pvp is gonna get any better? People are still waiting for PvE to get better, and it's been 3 years.

other than the que time, and the inability to play frontlines with friends from other gc's i like pvp how it is.

Aren't they doin changes for 2.4 ? I ve read they are adjustin pvp stuff.

As far as i know, they will add Rank 50 with 2.4. Besides that i am sure they will nerf/buff some pvp skills. Not sure if they going to add new Gear for 41-50.

First and foremost, agreed: PvP (specifically chasing down lalas when theyre at 1 hp and tickling them to death) is the reward within itself. Why I enjoyed ballista so much...only reward was seeing your name at the top of the leader board..kinda like the kills/dps charts here. The real problem though has nothing to do with rewarding or not. Simple fact is..the EU/NA pvp community simply isn't remotely as strong as the JP one regarding support/interest (who I'm guessing could just as easily do w/o rewards seeing how long ballista went on their servers vs NA ones) When a developer has to use baits, enticements to lure potential players who otherwise wouldn't have interests, he's only shooting himself in the foot to keep supplying them. If ya really like PvP, pack your bags, blow up your FC personal room, convert your gil to sellable goods, flip off all your friends to turn em into enemies, then jump to a JP srver lol. Problem solved.

I dont think that the devs are neglecting pvp, its just that they are trying to satisfy what is currently most wanted and lets face it, most people playing FFXIV are more interested in pve than pvp.
Thats not to say that we wont get good pvp stuff, that just means its not a priority, so we have to be patient.

I just recently got into frontlines, I wish the que times were better - I can already foresee the long and grueling grind to get any ranks past 20. Specially as a Immortal Fail, since wins are very very far and few between...

I'm nearly 50% win rate on flames since joining, they are much better than adders, granted storms are better... but you can't even play on storms due to queues. You must be very unlucky with your queue teams.

Thx for the encouragement. I was *this* close to swapping to mael but if the que times are even worse, then forget it, I can put up with the flames. I just feel like I try real hard and go nowhere, but that's probably how it is for any solo pug. I feel like we're constantly fighting Mael premades too, because they always seem to have the right amount of healers and whatnot, and they seem to coordinate a step above everyone else. Maybe your right about being unlucky, it does seem like Adders have there awful games too. My record is 6/15/16 right now, not sure why flames can't bring in those wins, but it is what it is.

If you are that serious about it then yes premades are the way to go. Isn't as hard to find like-minded people as you think. Good luck to ya.
