let alone the reward, even without reward if I want to play PvP, I need to wait for a long time.
Don't mention WD, tried it today and scored 300min waiting time.
But yeah, maybe some reward will provoke some, especially tomes/seals farmers
Please no, the insta flames queues have brought in some of the worst players ive ever seen in a decade, under 10k dps, healers that heal maybe 40k all match and many many many runs of more than 1 afk the entire match. Tomes need to go away period and only pvp type rewards if that cause the amount of people that play to look pretty instead of learning their jobs is astronomically high.
Yeah I've said and believed from the start that PvE rewards in PvP are silly and bring in just the kind of people Zagam is speaking of. To OP: yes I would still play.
"I think they should give a new type of marks to buy the new gear since they are raising the rank, something like Elite Wolf Marks or however they decide. This way people that wants the 30-40 ranged gear can still do Frontlines and people pushing for 40-50 gear can do in the Wolves Den.." But I will still play PvP is something I love....
Yes. I would like to spend less time waiting than I do playing... however like was said above having an influx of people who don't care to improve and win is no fun at all. I get that everyone has to start somewhere, I was new when PVP came out and I still have room to grow so I'm not an elitist who expects people to be insta-pro's. But when a surge of Nexus farmers showed up for example many didn't care about supporting their teams and winning, just about getting their own kill shots for the scoreboard even if they did only 10k damage the whole match. Leaving their party shorthanded at an important flag where they're too outnumbered to claim it so they can brag about ninja'ing an OP solo which is reclaimed 10 secs after they leave while their party is losing what can amount to a numbers game without them.
People were cussing each other out in Alliance chat vs attacking the OPPONENT and one someone said 'What does it matter, we still get 200 pvp exp if we lose vs 400 if we win." Since I was dead waiting to respawn because my party wouldn't help take the melee's off me I had time to respond and said- see if you thnk that when you're at rank 38 like me. "Oooohh you're SO PRO!" one of the Nexiots said, which shows how little he understood. Because when it's 10k pvp exp points needed to rank up a level, that's a lot more time spent just sitting in queue and waiting cause you're having to run over twice as many games as the winning team where people cared.
Rank based matching has been bad for WD I hear, but u wish there was a separate, andfast-queuingversion of FL where some minimum threshhold had to be met... like finish 50 matches in 1st or 2nd place, you get option to queue for FL Pro. Sure some awful players and those who abuse system would find their way in, but I'd take a few of them in the alliance over a lot, and win or lose playing with good players is more enjoyable. That's why the game doesn't just start off brand new players in i100 gear and put them into coil and extreme Primals with the rest, without prior experience to prepare them. But that's essentially what we have here.
Incentive to PvP is to have fun killing people and popping champagne all over their corp- I mean... have fun....
Really, the real incentive is just to have fun and still do your best so you don't screw alliance over if they're trying to get a win.
I'm not a PvP type player honestly, I like to PVP just to get a break from boring old PvE that is run over and over. And boss rotations are the same every match so it's not really that fun once you know the fight already.
PvP always feel different every round, and it really gets me into all the fighting too. To sum it up "PvP is exciting!"
I would like to see implemented more modern aspects and mode's of PvP, such as territory war's between FC's, PK zones (obviously outside of Eorzea) and General war/siege and open world PvP (still outside of Eorzea.)
Would be cool if they ever give us open world territory PvP. Allow us to claim territory's, form player alliances and collations, craft and build our castles and siege weapons to attack enemy player strongholds and all the stuff that makes in-depth PvP great in MMO's.
EDIT: Maybe even allow us to form out own nations/city states, build citys and towns and expand territory in general. PvP is awesome, lol.
I really though about this question, if there was no more rewards or was never rewards, I would stop PVP. Don't get me wrong I enjoy PVP, but there are other goals for me. Even if there we're unlimited que pops, I only do it once or twice a month. And you should think of PvP as PK, it more like a Test of skill to knock a person out. ITs not like you only have 1 life. haha
Whatever incentive they give is not going to work if the wait times are longer than the match itself, I stopped playing PvP for this very reason.
The main reason why PvP is so boring is because there is barely any of it there. We get wolves den and frontlines for large scale so far and thats it.
If they could just increase the size, variation and amount of PvP available, I dont think anyone would disagree that PvP becomes alot more fun then.
I believe that giving incentive in way of more items is the wrong way to go about increasing PvP activity. I believe that in order to increase it, they will have to remove many of the restrictions they have in place, one Grand Company not having enough participants causing the other two Grand Companies to wait until the third has enough to fill one party, and or create new PvP content without these restrictions. Also, the Rank restrictions they have in place for the Wolves' Den is no longer necessary when PvE equipment is easier to acquire and is competitive against players that have full Rank 40 equipment.
Still disappointing though to not hear of any new additions to pvp on the way for 2.4. PvP and coil are the only things I find enjoyable in this game. Primals get stale incredibly fast and I've long since stopped caring about the dungeons they've been putting out every update.
If having a players that really doesnt care about match results means we get shorter que i can totally deal with it, yeah it sucks that have players like that in your team but alteast you get to play more FL's instead sitting in que for hours. I take 10 losses in row rather than spend that same amount of time in que while gaining absolutely nothing at all.
The day I find myself sharing this sentiment will be the day I give up on PVP altogether. Winning and competitive play is all that matters in pvp to me. Saying otherwise is as ridiculous to me as a person doing laughing emotes or popping champagne after killing someone when their team is in last place and down by 500 points. Shouldnt be promoting a loser's mentality for a game mode who's only real draw and replay attraction is the competition.
For me the incentive of pvp is pvp itself. I like the competition, team work, strategies. There is nothing better than going up against other players who know what they are doing.

I would still play if it offered no rewards. I play for the competition and thats fun for me. Players come back to wolves den... frontlines is wack!!
SE PvP isnt great, but it is still PvP.... I'm doing it for the gear glamour...thats about it.
It would be nice to not have reskinned gear as the reward, but I just enjoy the PVP itself. Some new modes would do wonders though.
I PVP for the fun, its new and exciting each time.
Though Frontlines is getting frustrating, long wait, people who don't care (Full ACC gear what?), Gear from wolf marks that is useless in actual PVP, non-existent Wolves den.
I really think they need to break the tie to GC for Frontlines and future PVP options.
It really doesn't make a difference. it gives Wolf marks, not seals.
Also smaller, 8 man vs 8 man PVP options.
so you an actually strategie instead of having a high percentage of assclowns.
Some simple capture the flag stuff.
