This is a semi-serious (possibly semi-coherent) post, but I feel like Limsa Lominsa has lost its identity a bit.
It used to be a pirate haven: the Marauder's guild was on a ship, and the class quests left you in no doubt that you were a pirate,a back-stabbing, gear stealing pirate at that. Now the Marauders are what? A poor man's Paladin? All the pirates have been disbanded and made to work the land.
And now the rogues are going to be goody two-shoes robin hood types? They can't even be thieves because that sounds mean.
Even the namby-pamby people from Ul'dah (Ul'Dahnians? Ul'Dha-ites? Ul'Danians?) can claim to be butcher than Limsans. This needs changing.

As far as Mauraders and Rogues, nothing of Limsa's identity has been lost. There's still poor saps mugged plainly in the streets. If you can't hand the fact that some thieves have honor, you might be in the wrong series. -

I feel the same way about Ul'dah and the Pugilist's Guild. The guild used to be a training center for people working as hired muscle for the Platinum Mirage (the casino/bank right next door). If anyone owed money to the Mirage, they'd send some members of the guild to beat the hell out of them and collect their money. Now what is it? They do nothing but box all day with no point or place in society. Why was everything in Eorzea cleaned up into sunshine and rainbow land for ARR?
Also have to mention Gridania and the Shroud. It's now happy hippy land, but it used to be a dark, scary, unwelcoming place. The Gridanians didn't want outsiders there, and even the forest itself didn't want outsiders there. -

I kinda agree. Limsa has softened up since the Clamity.
Under Merlwyb Limsa is no longer a pirate "haven" the real pirates are outlaws and instead pirates that working in Limsa are "traders" or expert Garlean saboteurs. I was surprised at how seemingly honorable the MRD guild was. Overall, Limsa is my fave City State due to its lack of xenophobia and its relative progressive government. -

I think it's kinda because when an empire threatens to take over your homeland and a giant dragon blows it up you realize there are things more important than money and booze and should maybe probably work for the greater good.

I dont understand why they try to make it so hard to be a goody good game. Games are for escaping reality and becoming something you wouldnt in real life. Like a pirate or a thief. Of course theres its limits but really a pirate or thief in a game isnt terrible.

Even the lore says now people are unsure of Kan-E-Senna being in charge and no longer running the city by listening to the elementals but in the game I saw no conflict within Gridania at all. No crime, nothing. The first I noticed was the Moogle delivery quests when the Ul'Dahn merchant was bribing away the bard troupe. Otherwise it's so happy and peaceful it's boring as a city.Quote:
