The community so far.......

Just wondering......if this is normal......

I'm enjoying the game so far, but every time I use the call to duty, to do some dungeons o_O Peoples attitudes are pretty terrible.

Out of the last 10 runs 7/10 people are going crazy, when were not skipping certain mobs, or like if your not running through dungeon fast enough.

I mean I even mark my targets as a tank, and people say I'm just wasting time.

I'm 39 Currently.......Is this gonna keep happening till 50, will this just keep getting worse?

Should I re-roll from tank, to healer maybe dps? Is this normal in this community?

Sadly you will always encounter people like this in dungeons, below 40 gladiators I recommend marking because of the lack of shield oath (your main tanking skill). If people can't stand this politely tell them to leave, let them eat the agro or explain why you are doing it (hate management etc).

I seem to have had better experiences in dungeons, generally being chatty with smiles can bring out a better mood in people, silent runs are the worst. The worst places I see this kind of behaviour is in the main story and trial roulettes but you have a lone way to go before you start getting paired with them.

If it really is bothering you find an FC that is willing to help you out with dungeons etc so at least you won't have to use the duty finder.

It's mostly bad luck I think. But, well... I have two or three terrible experiences as well.
But no, it's not normal and shouldn't be. I'm sure you'll meet your share of really nice people as well.

Don't switch class for that reason.

About the silent runs... sometimes, it's just the Ps3/4 players not bothering with their awful virtual keyword, so don't take it to heart.

Yeah, for the most part, PS3/PS4 players won't touch their virtual keyboard because it literally locks them out of everything else. Even getting a USB keyboard would mean that they would have to put down their controller in order to type. I personally try to communicate using the auto-translate function, but it's extremely limited. Trust me when I say though that silent runs normally mean that nothing is out of the ordinary during the run.

Im on ps4 and i just have my keyboard in front of me and I type when an opportunity presents itself. Silent runs are not always bad but sometimes it just feels like something is off like silent groups in raids, usually means its preformed and they don't want to speak to anyone outside their little group.

Unfortunately that is the majority of the community so get used to it. They are the whiners that SE caters to. What happens when a group of cry babies keep getting their way? They cry even more. That is the essence of the XIV community.

the "Pug" rng is horrible. Don't change anything about you. Instead start looking for players that fit your play style and enjoy the game!

I have done literally thousands of dungeon/trial runs in the DF, and I know I can count the "toxic" parties on my hands. They really are few and far between, sounds like you're just unlucky, OP.

When I leveled up my gladiator at launch . Found a lot of other players like to "backseat tank". In this game. So as a gladiator you should just get used to following orders.

I agree, bad parties are few & far between. I had one party where as tank I engaged a group and the other three had just moved on to the next room and let me die. Some level fifty players are so used to overgearing dungeons that they ignore nearly all mechanics in leveling dungeons and then complain or ragequit when things go wrong. They're the minority though ... and as a learning tank you have to do things the 'regulation' way, so stick with it.

Tell them that if they're not here to run the dungeon they're welcome to kick you and get another tank: that should shut them up.

Yes, because you've met every single person who plays this game.

You are a tank, you have the power to control the flows of the run. If the players are toxic towards you despite you did no do anything wrong or just because they wanted to do the way they want to, either simply leave or they will leave on their own accords and let they suffer the penalty. Any spot but rank spot is easily replaced within 10 mins. And as long as Healer is not the one quiting, you can resum the run like normal. That is the beauty of a tank in exchange for all the craps we take from them.

Though, by saying this, I am not encourage anybody to abuse this power. At the end of the day, a Dun with no dispute is da best dun.

On the second note, if you are really lv40 Gladiator, yes I will get mad :mad::mad:

WTF are you talking about? Mostly what I see are very friendly people. I don't understand any of what you are saying, and it's interesting how you are stating it as if it were fact.

I've had good groups where everyone is laughing and having fun in a dungeon, supportive groups that will offer advice (nicely) if they notice something or will support you (verbally) when you fumble (I try to be one of these peeps, generally because I believe in 'Do unto others...') - and then groups that just instantly tear each other apart the moment someone says 'boo'. Or all rage quit the moment a little bit of difficulty sets in.

It's really a luck of the draw.

THough maybe it's just my luck, but I personally notice a lot more pissy players way later at night, though (so I guess I want to assume the nicer people have been smart and went to bed while I'm stuck with the angry, sleep deprived ones ; p) xD

I don't mind silent parties, but only to a point - I can understand the PS3 thing since two of my FC members are on PS3 with keyboard attachment and one of which seriously hates typing with it (he does at least go out of his way to say 'hi' at the beginning, though)... but just feels a little rude when you say hello at entry - silence. Silence the whole way. Tell them thanks for the party or any other comment (Whew we did it, etc)... but not even a millisecond's pause before they stampede to exit the very second the boss dies like they're all just going through the motions/do not give two shits that anyone existed. It's like working with a bunch of lifeless robots. x.x
But yeah. I don't expect people to go out of their way (nor do I have a suggestion other than a wave good bye as you're runnign to the exit on a emot button, maybe?) to say anything/do anything, but it's also difficult to not automatically feel a little dejected in response, either x_x

Just leave the dungeon, I rather face 15 min cooldown from DF then run a group of idiots for 30-40 minutes. As a tank you should decide the pace and not them.

Just done Sunken Temple and in my group there was a idiot black mage, who kept spamming sleep, instead of doing damage. We tried kicking him out, but it failed, because the healer was his friend. After explaining to him that doing sleep was a bad thing, he told me that he knows this and wants to only cast sleep, because he can. This is one of the reasons why we have a shortage of tanks, to many idiots ruining for the good dps players.

I very rarely run into asshole players, uninformed players yes, but complete douchenozzles are a rarity. OP it sounds like you have horrible luck, might be a good idea to run with an FC

1/ Did he just cast sleep only? Then he is an idiot.
2/ If he cast sleep and you break it or whoever break it due to AoE, then either tell him not to sleep or you mark the target that will be tanked, so the whole PT focus the marked target down instead of AoE.
3/If he cast one sleep, then follow with the BLM rotation, then I think because he run with his friend, as a healer, he cast sleep to make healing easier. At the level for Sunken Temple, those Mobs hit pretty hard, especially Bee. I, as Ilv 103 tank, when run this Duns, I still die with 2 Bees on me. Those Final Sting bite like a truck.

1. Yes, He only used sleep. The other dps and myself asked him and adviced him which spells he should cast, but it was very obivious he was trolling and he confirmed this aswell. I think what pissed me off was the fact that we could not kick him out.

2. When I am tanking, I tend to mark the mobs that need sleep, this way other players can avoid attacking it.

3. This would have been understandable if this was the situation, but the Monk did alot of dps and I made sure to use my defensive skills at the right time + stuns and shield swipe. I hardly got any damage and I always ask my healers if I should pull less, mark mobs for sleep or use more defensive skills.

We finished the run, but if its one thing I dislike is carrying players who bring nothing to the group.

Oh well, what can you do? >_>...If you leave, pity for the other Dps, if you stay, it pisses you off.... " It takes two to tango", or in this case, "to troll"....

As for the sleep Mark, because BLM Sleep is an AOE, I tend to find it easier to just Mark the one I will be tanking, as to avoid leave many marks on the field if multi-target need to be slept as well as to avoid the confusion :) That is when I am on my Pal.

If I am on my Warrior, YOLO...It is the one thing that Warrior good at ;)

I had a very frustrating day trying to do some HM dungeons. I wanted to spiritbond on my bard (wearing the full gryphonskin set and a few + spriitbond accessories) while doing a grand company hunting log (I changed GCs recently...). I was willing to deal with the long wait time because I knew I could really make a profit if I got lucky on conversion. Anyway, I get into my HM after 25 minutes and its AK. Cool, big dungeon - lots of mobs, and no one was new.

The tank and other DPS INSTANTLY leave. What? Why join a HM if you aren't prepared to follow through!! I didn't want to wait around in another queue forever, so I stood around and eventually the healer left too. What happens next is of course, a new tank joins and asks "What happened?" So i explained. He remains silent, was obviously inspecting me and then says "spiritbonding, seriously?" and leaves.What??? I have an unweathered rosenbogen and two 110 accessories... along with a full i70 set. Last I checked, you needed to be i65 to queue for some HMs. It's probably less for AK. Here I was pushing i74... and whats worse, is there was a new BLM in AF gear who joined after him who I was happy to run with, after all I was here for a hunting long and spiritbonding.

I got into an awesome Tam Tara HM where the healer was spiritbonding i90! Thats not cheap but my god I wasn't going to leave over it, much less criticize him! Most of the time these players outperform the geared ones in my opinion! Does the community not realize the requirements to spiritbond high level gear now a days? I'm not holding you back, hell I've done speed runs of Brayflox HM alongside a monk with this set and I was shocked at the immediate shun I received from other players for this.

Well, thats my rant - call me stupid for SBing this way or say its a loss of money, the materia market is booming and I'm just trying to make a profit, not slow your dungeon run down.

Some people are ridiculously rude on this game. I get that I'm a little inexperienced with MMOs but am working hard to get better at A Realm Reborn. Anyway, I basically had a group kick me out of a duty because they literally failed to tell me what to do to help beat a boss. When I kept dying and subsequently complained that I didn't know what I was doing, I was told "It should be obvious what to do." Bear in mind that this boss was in the mid level 30s in the duty finder. Its people being obnoxious and then punishing less experienced players by kicking them out of duties. A lot of this doesn't usually happen at the lower to mid levels, and I always get players commendations for my work in each team. Its the later dungeons and what not, where people just expect you to know what to do, plus they all rush through things, without allowing players to get magic power back or anything like that. Just frustrating.

Keep reporting such players who abuse vote kick.

Not sure if it's only on my own world like that but the parties i get through my duty roulettes have been just fine and I can't recall meeting players with a wrong attitude, on the contrary people don't seem to mind whenever someone else asks for a full dungeon run,

I didn't have any toxic players during my first time leveling phase. In fact, pretty much all dungeons up to 50 were mostly friendly and easy going, with people being friendly and nice.

That changes after 50.

The toxicity crowd and rage players are mostly found in the harder content, CT had it moments of flamers getting mad, ST can have its impatient flamers as well. Titan/Levi EX is probably the worst, one slip up and the arrogant ass Tank start getting mouthy or the "I'm Pro Bro" DPS'er starts calling out the "scrub" players that need to "learn2dodge" and whatnot. Usually at this phase people start berating your gear, and call you scrub if your below i100 or have mostly hunt gear. Turn 5 can get ugly pretty quick too especially if people are new. I think you are unlucky to get it so early in the game, usually it starts at the end game. (from my experience)

Sadly, because the game been out awhile now, a lot of the people you meet in the newbie dungeons are people leveling alts, and they already done the dungeon a million times and they have a flawed mentality that everyone should just know it by now. Of course this is not true but sadly your gonna run into those people every once in awhile. Start developing the thick skin now cause its only gonna get worse. :D

In a 4 man instance, you only need one person to agree to the kick.
Im always doing dungeons with a premade tank, and we have been running into alot of toxic players, also premades sometimes, and we never failed to kick any of them, so i can assure you that the monk never accepted the kick vote.

To be honest, a lot of new player tanks just take way to long to pull. There's no need to run to the next group of mobs, wait for 5 minutes, ask if people are ready, mark mobs, etc. Just run in and pull. As healer, I don't need to "get" ready. I'm always ready. Just run in and pull and get going. In most groups, DPS are always ready to go also. Maybe take the first few pulls a bit slower to gauge the group. But if they are there, paying attention, and not AFKing, just run in a pull. No need to wait between mobs.

I play PS4 and I have *never* had issues being able to type during gameplay. I've also had a lot of really fun, chatty runs with friends that also didn't take very long. I dunno, maybe I and most people I know are all anomalous but...I feel like that can't be the case.

im a ps3 player with no keyboard so generally im 1 of the non talking players since using virtual keyboard during dungeon runs is meh lol

but the toxic/rude players arent that common in my experience through df most players ive teamed with randomly are generally nice n will help any1 whose new with tactics for bosses etc

come across 1 rude player during a main roulette kept trolling a certain persons gears sayin his noob blah blah blah the player he was trolling kept replying so i just said dont feed the troll n he got butthurt cause no1 would reply to him n left lol

Sorry you're experiencing the negative player interaction. But like what others say, don't change your class. Marking targets is considered a good thing, given that it was what I did as a tank myself. Your heart is in the right place, and if others are saying things like "its a waste of time" then they are a load of crap. Its never a waste of time to help people out, including yourself.

It may be a bad suggestion, and I don't know how the majority of the community is on your server, but maybe a change of worlds is at hand. Probably those who are saying that they are experiencing positive feedback from PUGs, maybe you could transfer there. I know it would cost money, and it may be a bit much, but it is an option. You will always get people like that. I'll run in as tank and someone will go "You know you can pull more ^.^" I say i'm fine. Then they get upset, if they wanted to pull a large amount of mobs and rush through it then they should of came in as tank. We get a mixture here, some are actually very fun people who play just to play enjoy the game. Others they make you feel like this is a job and it's demanded you go as fast as possible because they don't' want to be in there in the first place. I go into these things for fun, for the beauty of the environment and the wonderful animations that other players do while fighting..seeing mnk's punch and kick, a dragoon twirling his spear and jumping..I love it when I hear the sound of a bards bow in my speakers.

Don't give up, there's a reason IMO that there's a lack of tanks and it's because the other players are so hard on them for no reason. Stick to it, mark it and this way if you got a single dps player like a monk or dragoon start going off on say mob #3 while you're on #2 and he gets any hate he's to blame. Yes I know you should have hate on the entire mobs but when you're rotating marked targets and aoe'ing, if the single DPS is attacking the right monster I use an extra combo on the mob to ensure that the high dmg the mnk or drg is putting out stays on me and my aoes easily keep things off the bard or blm from the rest of the group.

I love tanking, I think it's one of the better looking classes..they look so cool! Though I hate the people sometimes and their high demand to make this game feel like you are rushing and not enjoying it anymore. When you feel you NEED to be doing something rather than want to? it's time to change things up a bit. Praise the sun! ....wrong game..Praise the tanks!! ..there we go.
