I don't DPS much, but am reaching a point where I an afford to add some to my warrior... so I'm curious what stats I should be pumping?
Most tell me Det... but I would think that a Defiance Stanced Warrior would benefit more from Crit, since Wrath stacks add critical hits already at a flat percent, wouldnt you simply be further increasing an innate stat.
Or... would Det be the greater gains,simply because there's considerably less points attributed to it?

I'm also not entirely certain how damage stats work compared to FFXI.
I remember in FFXI Damage was something like... Attack increase the Damage Ceiling while Strength increased the Damage floor, or something like that. Can I assume that Strength/Determination work the same way on a graph?

Even with wrath stacks Det is a stronger damage stat. Point for point Det is the strongest secondary.
As far as how damage stats work:
Strength is a linear increase in damage. Det is a linear increase too, it's just not as powerful. (technically it's a linear increase in everything: physical damage, magic damage and healing strength)
Crit, averaged out, is a linear increase in DPS as well (if there aren't crit-based procs). But again less powerful per point that det. -

1.) STR > DET > Crit, point for point.
2.) I'd suggest either pentamelding i90 crafted accessories or getting i110 STR accessories. Both will give you a huge increase in DPS and also still put you above the threshold to main tank every turn in SCoB except T9 (though with crafted you probably still can).
3.) Another way of getting more STR is to buy a stat reset scroll from your GC and allocating all your points into STR if you haven't already.
4.) Tanking comes first, DPSing comes second. If you don't meet the HP threshold for the content you're currently doing, you're going to die and all the STR in the world won't save you. The best left side set you can get in terms of min/max DPS while still maintaining a good amount of accuracy is Noct Head/High Allagan Body/High Allagan Gloves/High Allagan Belt/High Allagan Trousers/Noct Feet. All of this costs you no VIT, so if you're strictly looking to increase your secondary stat DPS then that's the set you're going to want (it's also the set you're going to want regardless so... yeah, aim for those pieces).
5.) Secondary stats on gear are kind of... bad in this game. Parry is a notable example - while it DOES increase your Parry rate, it takes many many many points to see even a small increase in overall mitigation. Determination is okay, but it's really hard to come by and is similar to Parry in that it is a very very very small increase in DPS. Basically, if you plan on increasing your DPS at all, you're going to need to trade VIT for STR - how you do this depends on how much gil/time you have, but it is way better than trying to min/max useless secondary stats.

Yeah I've went 30Str, but reset for Solo Tank Ramuh runs. Extra HP can be nice for that. I already have i100 Drg gear I could hunt my way to 110, but was largely refering to respecing my Novus to be Nexus, since I kinda went cheap on the last few melds, or possibly swapping out some "Parry" tank gear, for ones that add Crit/Det.
Crit's just so much more satisfying to see :P. -

For Novus, and I assume Nexus, Det beats Crit because it's a 1-for-1 situation.
For other gear situations, I would rate them about equally (in the uneven ratio typically found on gear).
One interesting note is that i90 crafted gear is more efficient way to gain STR than the 30 point respec. Suppose you're a full i110 tank with VIT jewelry and 30 bonus points in VIT: Respec trades 30 Vit for 30 Str, but replacing all 5 jewelry pieces with i90 pentamelds trades 30 Vit for 65 Str (ignoring secondary stats).
Regarding parry: How far are you willing to lower your defense in order to up offense? Personally, I like tanking the hardest content out there, so I keep a lot in parry. Switching to Crit/Det in some situations would be respectable. -

Ah, for your Nexus, gotcha. I'd steer clear of Parry entirely and just go ACC/DET/Crit, though DET can be rather costly if you intend on buying IVs. Skill Speed can also help to an extent (depending on how much is on your other gear) by reaching the 421 SS to get off an extra attack during your Berserk uptime. Just remember that the only really important secondary stat is Accuracy (specifically for Coils) and that anything else you get will be a minor increase in either damage or survivability - basically, don't go bankrupt min/maxing your Nexus.
Oh, also, SS/Crit/Det works well too if you don't feel the need to get accuracy on your wep. -

With the ability to respec the best way is to just farm your own Det IVs. Acc/det/crit and slowly remove crit.

When I switch to gear with more det for warrior I feel no difference. When I get more crit I see bigger numbers and I like big numbers.

Warriors already get bonus Crit from Wrath.
Det makes that bonus Crit more valuable, by making it hit for more.
It's also just the strongest dps secondary among all melee classes as well as ranged. -

I appreciate your video, despite having played my War the opposite. I think part of the reason I so heavily specced into VIT because from lv 1, your told it's the stat of choice. Well and it comes in handy for Solo Tanking Ramuh.
While I've heard many tell me that Parry was a stat that was underwhelming, It's hard to break from the idea that anything that helps you survive is an ideal thing to pour into. I'm full i110 Vit, and with thrill, I'm hitting 1.3k... though I suppose that goes with 618 Vit and Parry/Vit food.
I had considered getting some vit i90 accessories to augment towards STR and such, since it's better returns than Vit 30 < Str 30 through stat reallocation. I think that puts me at 9950 with Defiance up and in party, but sounds like your saying that my current setup is overkill for defense. I do have full i110 STR accessories, but obviously, no Vit. Perhaps some hybrid there would hold me over better until I find myself with pentamelded i90s.

Ramuh - I've never bothered to single tank him but I've read the strats and yeah you'd want a full VIT build. The DPS check is extremely low and you are pretty much a big punching bag. Hate shouldn't be an issue either with all the moving around.
When we do Ramuh we bring 2 STR spec WARs. -
