Can we talk about how overly flash/polished Ninja's visuals are when...

compared to the rest of the classes for a second?

I mean I understand this is basically SE's flashy new toy to try and attract people either to the game for the first time or back to the game but it feels like they put a lot more effort into making it look visually appealing when compared to any of the rest of the classes. Unique running animation, unique jumping animation, skills that actually seem to change based on the model of the enemy, etc.

I'm glad they've put so much effort into it, but if this is going to be the trend for future classes aren't they at all concerned that the older ones will start to look dated effect/animation wise?

Rage of Halone.
Circle of Scorn.
Lustrate.
Virtually everything MRD/WAR gets.
Flare.
Holy.
Shadowflare.
DRG dives.
Rain of Death.

Do I gotta go on here?

It is probably due to having more time to polish Rogue/Ninja.

Considering Yoshi-P wanted to release the Gun class(Musketeer class), Stealth class(Rogue/Ninja), and Melee Mage class(Red Mage) into the game for a while I'm not surprised they took the effort to polish Rogue/Ninja while it was being developed.

Nonsenses the most flashy and shiny skill is WHM's Holy. It's so flashy it actually hurt my eyes.

Flashiness is the reaspn why i turnoff party members animation whenever i play a melee or tank. Aint no way i can position myself with eveything going on

I disagree. Ninja/Rogue abilities look awesome. Dragoon abilities and Monk abilities both still look equally as awesome.

Flash is a gladiator ability, I don't think Ninja will get it.

No matter how flashy and shiny a class/job can be, nothing can top the increasing brightness of the Zodiac weapons.

The effect on the Kuji-in (seals) must be lowered/toned down. I get headaches when seeing them being cast.

Actually OP, the flashiness bothers me a little too but not because I think they're making it too flamboyant.
I just feel that the seals are popping in and out too suddenly. I wish there was a better transition so that it wasn't so bombastic.
That way I won't get a headache every time a ninja is in the party. I really hope they tone them down. @_@

This game loves tacky glows since they're cheaper to implement than real effects, animations or unique gear, at least there's an option to turn off battle effects, had them all turned off except mine for a year and never looked back.

OP How are your graphic settings? I recently upgraded to ps4, and some things that looked awful on low graphics look amazing now. I also didn't realize how flashy some jobs are until I had other people's graphics turned back on (which I then had to turn off as they block things in coil). Remember all their stuff is done in perfect settings with perfect graphics. The second you lower your graphic settings a ninja will not look anywhere as flashy. As a Blm I'm already pretty flash tastic with every move I do, I didn't realize how much so it was until I was running at full graphics

I think the character animations look nice, but so does PGL/MNK (and probably some other classes that I pay less attention to). Jumping on the enemy's back is definitely a nice touch and it would be cool to see more of that. Other than those things I don't see a huge difference. Then again, I'm used to seeing fire III and flare exploding all over the screen.

My only problem with the current animations is how short they are. I realize it has to be that way because the combat is too fast paced to have any sort of duration on effects. For instance, in my mind flare would ideally last about three seconds. The melee animations are all beautiful, in my opinion, but they are rushed. They have to end before the global cooldown is done otherwise the animations wouldn't have any chance to flow. Having designed Ninja from scratch for the 2.0 system, I bet it was easier to make animations that were more fluid.

the animations are WAY more fluid and chain way better than both Drg and Monk , but the ninja spells are "ok" at most

howerver dragon kick, chaos trust , flare, holy , steel cyclone , rain of death are still awesome :3

I'm sure we will see more 'flashy' skills when our level cap is increased with 3.0;

Agree. I was just watching 1.0 combat and while the animations for DRG attack were the same, it looked better/more detailed due to the slower pace of the battle system.

Don't know what game your playing OP.

All the classes stay true to animations, for the style of play that they represent.

We are now starting to get exotic classes now, so animations will change accordingly.

Wait till Samurai comes out... and the gun class.

The only class i would agree could use the same run animation, would be mnk. Besides that the animations stay true.

Make your name plate a different color. I have mine as a bright yellow color. You will always be able to see where you are.

Well, of course. The trailers showing gameplay is going to be done in such a way to make it look as good as possible. During battle, it might not seem all that good afterall. Take MNK's Dragon Kick for example, I love that animation. But after stacking grease Lightning, the GCD is shorter than the animation and thus ruins it. Perhaps something similar will happen with NIN. Once again though, they want it to look as good as possible.

Nothing will beat the animation of Dragon Fire Dive. I lied quake 3 or ancient quaga looks good two. Can't wait until BLM get ancient magic.

i'm pretty sure that only the ninjas themselves, will see the screen-wide-seals...otherwise it would be really crazy...
like ninja trains, with explosions of mudras, firing off across entire maps haha. i'd actually love to see that!

I can see where you're coming from OP, the class does look way more heavily animated/flashy then others but like others have said, i think it would actually be a lil too much and just become distracting. However i would love for the flashy effects to be defined more on all classes. Personally I'm getting tired of the BLM effects, quite how a purple blob can make fire, ice, thunder and flare i don't know. Surely they could of made it so when your casting the effect has the same colour as the element your about to cast?

I like the 'appearing on top of the head' move and think similar body-part specific animations could be used with other classes. It would be nice if DRG's leg sweep triggered a mob's knockdown animation, for example (many of the version 1 mobs have knock-down animations, Giant Buffalo falls to its knees, Toads fall onto their backs etc).

This may just be a test run of something they will introduce to other classes/jobs later.
