Nexus vs High Allagan

Anyone else hate the fact that they made Nexus better than high allagan? What about all of the people who worked hard for their weapons, now they are no longer BiS since you can customize Nexus. That just seems fucked up that now T9 doesn't give BiS weapon, relic does....

Can we please stop with the back and forth between coil and relic... get what you like, don't worry about what others have. Next coil is only a few months away, then it will be the relics complaining about not having bis anymore.

Maybe you should have hit the relic grind sooner, how could you not think that relics would be anything less than BiS at certain points in this game, is this a troll post?

T9 weapons were doomed from the start.

Relics are always a better bet since they are supported with each update.

Don't forget the relic starts at i80 and the quest is getting longer and longer...

I'd say in about 1 year, a relic will be and SHOULD be more worth than an allagan weapon in my eyes.

The relic vs raid-obtained weapon argument is like beating a dead horse.

- T9 (and T5) weapons were "learn the fight, apply your skill, work with 7 other people, complete hard content"
- Relic questline is: "grind out easy stuff, no raid skill required, most of it is soloable"

Nothing has changed. Well, technically most people will grind out their Nexus doing raid instances, so they can't just solo it.

Welcome to the world of MMOs and gear progression. I will say that I was expecting them to release raid-obtainable i120/125 weapons at the same time as Nexus. That was what they did with previous patches (T5 was the only i95 weapon until second coil came out, then they gave out i95 Levi weapons like candy).

Relics with special job skills will be coming at some point, I would bet.

Other than the select few individuals with no outside commitments like school or work, most people won't have Nexus until 2.4 launches, or at least right before. You can enjoy being a special butterfly a little be longer OP.

Looks like a lot of terrible players are salty when someone mentions how you can get the best weapon in the game without having an ounce of skill.

No one but the OP is upset about the weapons, everyone else is just tired of people whining about relic vs coil (entitlement). The coil weapon has been BiS for the last 6+ months, all the while relic folks were complaining. Now that the relic is up to par, it's coil folks' turn to whine. In a few months the next coil weapon will be BiS again, and the cycle starts over...

I don't have a Relic beyond Atma (and that thing is going to rot in my retainer's inventory for a long time), I threw out my first Animus book when I saw they were never going to really do anything about the atma grind + boredom completing the Animus content. Never bothered to even find out about Novus, and the only reason I know of Nexus is because suddenly people want to run instances with me again (instead of just hunting) so they can get whatever lights they need.

Zodiac Saga allowed me to make up my mind quite firmly: So long as I'm always given an alternative, I won't have and won't want a relic weapon. Atma's a pointless upgrade, Animus slightly makes sense, but still not terribly interesting, Novus (as I hear) is just a big time/gil sink, and w/e to Nexus. . . I've got the skill for Coil and I actually enjoy it. I'll take that route.

It's not even a few months it's a few weeks and the new coil weapon will be out. Also the nexus weapon takes way way way more time and work then a high allagan weapon does. The ha wpn just takes skill and a good group. When I work in Kitchens as a Chef it's extremely hard for me to get a coil group together because 60-70 hrs work weeks and randomly being called in. Are you saying players with skill, but work shouldn't have access to equal weapons. Most people that have ha weapons maybe put in 40 hrs at coil, just as this nexus is released. The atma stage alone takes 20hrs. Books take 20hrs, alexandrite takes more then 20 hrs, and nexus takes 20-40. That's triple the amount of effort. If anything the new allagam weapon in 2.4 should be weaker then the next stage of relic if we are talking about amount of time and effort. What about smn book which has skill speed on it? Summoner doesn't benefit from that Stat at all the ha smn book was made crapy from the get go, by the dev team.

Yoshi-p said that Relic going to be BIS at some point like when PLD get there hands on Excalibur. He said that no other weps can be best becuase it's a Excalibur. He also said that relic would have something special at E3 maybe a buff,spell,ws or w/e.
It may be something lame as change the look of LB or emote or something. Get the wep because you want it not because it's going to be BIS at some point.

By the time it does become a relic it be a hard long quest to get a BIS that may not even be that much of BIS vs the raid version out there. The fact we be wasting days and months to upgrade it every new Raid patch may not be worth it. When you could just use the Raid wep just get the new version of it next raid patch.

Most people would be thinking why waste hours and months doing a hard quest to get BIS wep when i could just get this other wep in a raid that 5-10 Ilvl and less the work and still be good enough to do the next raid?

So at the end do it because you want too because they always be other Wep that less the work for little less stats. The special thing yoshi-p said can't be overpower so it may just be something as lame as changing the look of something. You can't make it very good because then the new raid have to be harder and people can't do it with just the raid wep.

Thing is, I'm all too aware that Relic weps are going to be the best in the long run, but as it stands right now, I can neither agree with, nor justify what it takes to get it. This is a personal thing. Someone summed it up pretty well once in saying that the road to getting it - that is, taking on the highest sub-raid level challenges (HM Primals, pre-Extreme modes) made sense both lore wise and logically. From what I've learned of Nexus, it seems like a bit of a return to that. Just a little. I could see myself possibly doing that. But I have 2 other gates now to get through, that aren't appealing at all. I'm not taking on a challenge - And let me please clarify here, that's where I find my meaning for the relic weapon, personally - I'm just looking at a set of to-do lists and an expensive/time consuming process. It just doesn't interest me. Really just devalues the end reward for me, again, personally.

relic is not for everyone just like raid weapons aren't.

personally I see relic as a personal challenge, yeah it has a lot of mundane stuff for you to do but it forces you to take part in all aspects of the game pre raid. ex primals and coil shouldn't be a part of it because those take more time to learn than most people can be asked to do plus on top of it with random's it can be very hard to get a clear and some people don't have time for statics.

if relic and raid leap frog each other to be bis every once in a while I don't see a problem, as really neither one will be so much better you have to rush out and own it. If you feel like you should then you should of already started relic and kept up with it or best get to it s the grind is getting longer, and no they shouldn't make it to easy for people to catch up on relic just like raid weapons shouldn't be easier to get.

It takes just as much dedication to obtain a Nexus weapon, as it does to obtain a High Allagan Weapon, if not more. Sure, HA may require skill to obtain, but you gotta pour hours and hours and grind your heart out, just to obtain a Nexus Weapon. You're also pouring gil into it if you went the route of spending for materia, and maxing out 2 stats. So, why not be better than HA? Even if it is better, its only better by a tid bit. 10 crit/skillspeed/spellspeed/piety/accuracy is not that big of a difference. And 10 det is only like a 1 dps loss. I get that T9 is a big accomplishment, but so is obtaining a Nexus. Just ask all the people who are still stuck farming for 1 atma.

And think about it, HA has been BiS for 3 months now, and Nexus is only gonna be BiS a month before the next patch, where the ilv is gonna get raised to 130-135. After that, its gonna fall off again, and the new weapons are gonna be better for a short period of time. So I really don't see a problem with this.

iirc, I read somewhere on the latest TGS live letter notes that Yoshi's gonna ease up atma farming.

Worked hard? You mean you got a drop. All that's needed is to repeat the same content til you get your weapon lol same as Nexus

Both is work, both need different sort of skill.

HA = You learn a choreography, congratz you became a dancer

Nexus = You stand hours for hours on the same assemby line doing the same shit over and over, congratz you became a fabric worker

At the end of the day, both was work, both have a weapon to fight with.

Nexus is far more time consuming than clearing coil. Coil at most takes a month or two to get down then it's easy to farm each week in a few hours. Nexus is something that requires a crazy amount of grinding to get. (if you count all the stages. relic, zenith ,atma, animus, novus and nexus) If time investment equals difficulty then Nexus is a hell of a lot harder than the high allagan weapons.

This is coming from someone with a high allagan weapon.

Also, I think people overplay the difficulty of coil. Yes, it's challenging until the point that all 8 members know the fight then it becomes just as easy as anything else in the game.

I think High Allagan is now officially for glamour

Well to be fair it will only be BiS for a month. That is assuming the game will stick to allagan being better than relic. It would of been cool though if the required quest for nexus was to clear t9. The casuals probably would of cried, but then again why would casuals need 115 anyways?

Depends though. For ppl having lots of RL stuff to do like me, managing coil is just something not easy to do. This, combined with the odd hour I have for content that needs high concentration and playing in server that usually have majority players already slept past bedtime makes it even harder to try doing these. To summarize, I play at JP server but can do effectively on EU prime time. And I can't play at US/EU server because latency's really bad there. Go figure... ^^;

Nexus might feel like long chore, but it's not crazy amount of time. You wouldn't even realize it's already done.

The road for that might not be so short, definitely not as "easy" to travel. I agree that in terms of time and dedication (dedication is the keyword in the relic concept, I believe) the relic steps shouldn't be considered so far behind the coil. However I believe that time investment does not necessarily equal difficulty. The only real difficulty in the relic quest chain is to not give up during the unending grind - whereas "not giving up" is the last problem in T9, especially while training it. The road traveled to get there, to the point where you get your High Allagan weapon after beating the most difficult content of the game, is not the same road of those who just did lesser content.

This, instead, is coming from someone with a Nexus weapon and has been trying to train T9 for weeks to properly to reach the point you described above.

You know, I actually like the fact that Nexus is better than High Allagan, and I'll tell you why.

High Allagan is earned by completing really hard content a small handful of times, depending on skill, group mechanics, and chance.

Relic Weapons are earned by getting a weapon, going through a painstaking process to upgrade it, going through another painstaking process to upgrade it, going through YET ANOTHER painstaking process to upgrade it, ad infinitum.

A lot more work goes into a relic weapon these days than what goes into an endgame raid weapon. Because you see, the work to get an endgame raid weapon is always constant from start to finish. The raid gets into the game, the raid gets unlocked, people raid it, people get the weapons, done. You do not need last raid's weapon to get the current raid weapon. Hell, if a player who has beaten T1-9 and hasn't gotten their weapon yet, they can technically skip over getting their Allagan weapon in First and Second coils and just get it in Third Coil. And if you want to gear off-classes, that is the easiest thing in the world to do for someone who can beat raids on a regular basis.

However, the work to get a relic weapon is always increasing from start to finish because it is a process of perpetual upgrade and no steps can be skipped. Relic ALWAYS goes into Zenith, Zenith ALWAYS goes into Atma, Atma ALWAYS goes into Animus, Animus ALWAYS goes into Novus, and Novus ALWAYS goes into Nexus. If you want a Nexus Relic, you have to work for it, and not only work for it, but you have to work for it on the Job you want the Nexus for, and work at it for days, weeks, and even months. Soon enough, it may even take an entire year's worth of work to go from Relic to the latest step in the Zodiac Weapon process.

That's why Relic Weapons are worth the investment. Not because they are currently the strongest weapons in the game, but because they will ALWAYS be the strongest weapons in the game, which is because of all the work put into them.

I don‘t really care anymore for the Coil weapons. I got my Level 100 Relict weapon before I saw the one hand BLM weapon drop for the first time and I guess I will also have my Relict weapon at Level 115 before I see the BLM T9 weapon. Screw Coil RNG loot distribution. By the time you get what you look for, the items are already outdated unless you are really lucky. Or a tank lol. Coil seems to love Tanks.
