Special Frontline Rules designed for TGS 2014:

The scale down size to 8 v 8 v 8.
Game time reduced from 30 mins to 15 mins
Winning points reduced from 1500 to 800.
Each GC's homepoint will be disabled. The changes only apply to outpost and Centre only (Translation may be incorrect)
Each team will have one of each job except the Summoner. (Team will be made up by WAR/PLD/MNK/DRG/BLM/BRD/SCH/WHM only, one of each, can not stack)
If the player is playing a Summoner as main, you are allow to switch to any DPS job. (Basically SMN is not allow to participate)

There are running this in tournament style. If there is going to be a cross server Frontline tournment, it seems this is the rule they are going to use. I am very curious about their decsion of not allowing SMN to partcipate.....

Think it is due to the Pets probably being OP

Summoner have shortest time to do burst? This would be interesting in many way.

seems like once again SE rather than dealing with an issue, they just rather eliminate it so they won't have to deal with it at all. no SMNs? what kind of bs is that. more floundering.

Bard has range potency mechanic to control their. damamge.
Black Mage has casting being interrupt mechanic to control their damamge

Summoner in this case, they are a dot job and rune 2 is instant. I wonder how are they going to adjust this.

By the way, Marauder is a class, not a job <----

Maybe there is a plan for a dramastic change to enitre Summoner mechanic? Since there are a lot of players are complaing about Summoner being a dot job instead of being a pet control job. Install a TP bar to pet and let it cast the trademark move sounds nice. Red Mage can takes the empty slot and becomes a dot job and share Arcanist with the Scholars also seems more interesting. More progressive ideas are better than being salty about cleric stance lol

It's quite sad when the populous think SMN has the best burst in PvP, i'm afraid they have nice burst but it will never trump a BLM burst; Depending on Procs of rng. SMN'er (Bio II, Miasma, Bio- Fester. Rouse/Spur. Enkindle/ Wither/Aetheric Burst & simultaneously applying dots sure creates massive pressure. But I would have to say BLM trumps SMNer burst hands down. BLM. with relatively LOW CD's FIre III/ fire (RNG Proc Firestarter Fire III) Phantom Dart- Swiftcast "Flare" Aetheric Burst if not finished- Move to Next target Rinse repeat Fire III to Fire until prof (Cancel Christmas My friends). BLM's are much more powerful than SMN'er in PvP. Their Pet AI is just down right idiotic.

Fyi SMN pets cannot interrupt other than Garuda's knockback or Ifrit stun. Pets are joke to healers atleast to me they are.

P.S SMN- Burst interval is very long other than Fester combo's

P.S BLM if wanted Fire III- Flare- Convert- Flare- Mana Draw- Flare. I think that sums it up.

I don't think anyone has said summoner has the best burst? It's not the best, but it's the main problem for the class imo. It's burst for what I see as a ranged sustained pressure class, is just crazy high.

Are you sure about that? You're probably right, as it's not my class and one of my least played, so not much experience on it, but I've had a few experiences where I'd set a ifrit on a heal, and he'd just fail to cast... I unno, maybe they just really sucked :p

Are you sure thats translated right? I feel like they are saying if you are a summoner then before the game starts you can switch to a dif class if you want not that you can't play.

This sentence is straight forward, 8 jobs per team except Summoner, but if you want to play Summoner, please change into one of the DPS.

申し出れば means in hope to, unless there is other meaning that I am not aware of.

This not direct translate but the point remain the same. Direct translate is worded different but point is same. Summoner is exception and you are allow to switch if you still want to participate?

well SMN burst is easily avoidable since you can remove dots with Purify, remove Aetherflow stacks with One Ilm Punch, interrupt casts, silence Surecast/equanimity, knockback surecast/equanimity, stun surecast/equanimity, Reduce cast time 20%, get out of range, get behind walls/pilars etc. Black Mage have heavy + sleep + Aetheric manipulation that make u harder run away and they get more benefits from Swiftcast. I do not say who is stronger, I just think they are kinda equal. Summoner have good sustained damage, BLM have good cc.

In topic: I think the main reason is not Summoner itself. I think they want all teams 2 be same and not 2 be any different setup for any team, so all are 100% equal and can not blame "team x win cause of different set up". Because there is 9 jobs in the game and other arcanist job is healer that healer would choose at first. So summoners just have only bad luck and get kicked away from the party because only 8 jobs can join into it.

You guys are reading too much into this. It's just SE being lazy and want both team to have the exact same setup for simplicity (so that everything is down to skill and teamwork) like the previous poster mentioned.

Beside, it's not like the general forum goers even care about keeping the game balanced seeing how much hate is thrown on healers in the pvp subforum. Heck, even if by some crazy chance summoner is removed from PVP for good, you'd still have a thousand people out there defending SE and drown out all the complaints.

And you deem oblivious to the GCD Parameters in this game. So before you utter blatant ignorance Ruin II/off GCD Energy drain 2.3+ sec 2x2.3= 4.6sec topped on with your dots. bio II gcd , miasma gcd. bio inst/still gcd, fester, spur, rouse, enkindle, then your little ruin II x 2 Energy Drains.
will take you up to 12+ seconds with your burst. then fester/energy drain 60 sec cd/enkindle 5min, rouse 1minute. spur.

BLM- Phantom dart 60 sec if specced properly, Swiftcast, 60 sec.
BLM- Fire III- Fire- Fire III (proced) Phantom Dart- Swiftcast Flare- Convert- Fire- (Fire III if procced) Mana draw-Fire ( Fire III If procced) 40% chance to proc rather than stagnant CD's. Apparently you don't understand the classes and state information without understanding the parameters of time.

Btw buddy- the pets don't always proc crit to interrupt a pet and another thing as well. The gentlemen who posted never stated their pet crit to interrupt speak intelligently before responding.

You obv know little about jobs (clearly SMN) and don't even mention the abundance of time it takes BLM to cast, if they get to(lol). It takes 5secs to setup SMN burst and 1.5-2secs to perform it(second energy drain is just a buffer). I wonder if you even know what it is, you obv have never done it. 12+ second setup? Say no more, go home kid.

Plus, your BLM burst is weak and easily negated. So you cast a fire starter proc, then wait for the 'gcd' to swift cast a flare? So during that gcd let me cast a quick cure II on myself or whoever is getting targeted by the burst. There is a faster burst that can be done by BLM in a frame of 1sec, you should learn it.

Come to think of it, do you even know what a 'burst' is? You go on about how you can cast flares and fire III(2:5 proc chance buddy), but over a spand of multiple gcds. Yes it's possible to do heavy damage over time as BLM, but w/e you stated is not considered a 'burst'. Takes way too long to perform. Burst are meant to kill and give minimum time of recovery.

Also, in case you haven't noticed, Im talking about SMN burst capability, not how often it can be done. I know BLM has good burst(not the way you do it), it just isn't as potent as smn's.

P.S. You're aware SMN gets swiftcast too,right? XD
