"Personal" housing is awful

This was so poorly executed.
1. The "personal" housing is in the FC wards.
2. "Personal" housing is the cost of what it is supposed to take a group to save up for (not a problem for me in particular, it's just not good)
3. Unless you woke up when the servers were up, all the small houses were gone except for uldah.

This was so poorly implemented I think the team from 1.0 was behind it.

Yeah I was at work during the day, came back to all sold out expect the 40mil plus ones....
Shame was looking forward to this feature, guess it's like hunts, chuck it in and let the community fight over it

Depending on server even Uldah small houses were gone in seconds or minutes.

@snugglebutt ya goblet sold out too, cheapest is 41million... Such a joke of a system that a theme park based mmo should of been able to easily resolve

I admit the execution with all the wards and stuff were pretty badly done. But the actual housing is amazing if you were able to get a house, a lot of customization and stuff. If only they made like more wards and plots so that everyone can actually enjoy owning a house, they would have received a lot less backlash.

We had houses [Siren] all night. A friend bought a small, personal house in Mist, ward 1 (where my FC is) and I grabbed a small house in Goblet, ward 6. Another friend got 2 houses in Goblet, ward 6 (one for his FC and one personal). Another friend grabbed another. The new wards in all 3 areas were still veritable ghost towns when I finally went to bed at 4:30 AM Eastern this morning. We didn't pay more than 2.3 mil for the most expensive house and mine was just over 1.9 mil.

i see your point and agree with you, but i also see things from all sides of the argument an also agree with them. its a bad situation all together. trying to see things from others perspectives helps me and others to understand the situation better. agreed on all aspects of your analysis of the situation. though it was very very poorly executed and we should have gotten more of a heads up about y this was being done the way it was. i was excited over personal housing only to find out after reading the patch notes that it wouldnt be in its own area, that its the same as the FC housing and all the personal houses should have been the same size plus they should have been affordable for a single player. im on a server that prices are rather high for housing but i dont want to move just because i want a personal house. im the leader of an FC i cant just move regardless of the situation. i do feel bad for SE in fact i love SE and their games but this is a poor situation. something i was excited for has been shot to crap. im hoping they will update and change a few things dealing with personal housing.

I'm just hoping that in 2.4 or maybe patches after, they'll fix it, but I'm definitely not going to be able to achieve my dream of owning my own mansion in time. Making this a first come first serve basis is an equation for much disappointment. It seems Eorzea is becoming more like American soil, rather than a made up place.

To put it simple, the Idea was, as mentioned above, executed in an unthoughtful manner. However, as far as I think, it's just a waste of space. I am playing on Cerberus and until some hours ago the situation was pretty simple. Lavenderbeds Ward 1 - 6, fully occupied by FC's, the new ones, Ward 7 and 8, only individuals and just one FC. Haven't they thought about the neighborhoods? I mean, come on, if there are just player houses, these wards will always be empty, since the minority of the players are interested in a strangers house...

That's because siren has a low population in comparison to many other servers. I had a character there once. It's like a ghost town.

For all subscribers, you'd need around 600 wards per city, per server. Being realistic and considering there are a lot of inactive players as well as players that are not interested in buying a personal house or don't have the Gil to buy one, 100 wards per city, per server would probably be enough to satisfy the demand, barely. adding 10 more wards is not even going to make a dent in the demand.

They'll probably need a new UI to navigate through wards, as it'll get messy once they reach that number of wards. They probably won't, though, as their servers will never be able to cope with that

This one is so true. Remember when FC housing came out and people were complaining about the costs? Yoshi kept saying it will be no problem for a group of people to save up and get a house.

Now he releases personal housing with the same cost???????????? So what now? So duplicitous.

I guess it's the one perk to living 'in the sticks'. :D Downside, harder to recruit folks into FC.

You're not wrong, that said it's gotten better. We have a pretty hefty influx of new players.

The scary thing is that we're in group A for servers. So right alongside Balmung and Gilgamesh for housing prices (Not. Joking.). Higher prices, small server economy.

I'm pretty sure SE just expanded what it means to be a "large" server.

But we had houses, so that helps.

It's not the same cost as it was then, just the same cost as it is now, which has dropped to about 1/3 of the original cost. Meanwhile, due to inflation and new systems, the amount of gil individuals are able to earn has also gone up considerably. Plus, it's on a depreciation schedule to be half-price within a month. So on this specific part, it actually makes some sense.

The real problem is supply. Price would work itself out in time if there were enough plots to go around.
