/Tell Needs Chime Sound

Please add some kind of sound when you receive a /tell. A lot if times I miss a /tell because there is no sound associated with it. A "ding" or "ping" or something to alert the player of a /tell would be great. The sound they had in FFXI was perfect.

This would definitely be welcomed. Something similar to the XI chyme would be great.

Definitely agree and definitely worth SE looking into. I miss so many tells because I'm not paying attention to my screen when I leave my game on to chat on the side. Yes, my fault, but I can't help it that I like playing battlefield and talking to my FFXIV friends at the same time. Sue me >.>;

I would support an option for some sort of chime. I would very much like to have it toggle-able though

Like everything else that was on ffxi but never was in ffxiv -.- this and many other stuff should have been here from day one ; ; i hope they do add this soon.

More people should please show support. Once you have the /tell chime, you realize how important helpful it is. Very minor change they can implement easily.

Yes please to this, and <call> hate it when people are afk when you have a full party.

There are non intrusive apps that accomplish this. They don't use any injections, just resolution scanners and in no way interact with the games files. Just a thought for folks who want a way around this problem, w/out getting banned for violating SE's rules.

Just throwing in my support for both a /tell chime and a <call> notification as well. Both features would be very nice.

And yeah, a <call> ability would be nice. Honestly it wouldn't mater much to me, I personally have this games audio toggled off. And until they get something as basic as being able to turn down the wind volume or birds chirping in the forest...Its not coming back on. It seriously interferes with voice chat communication to have everything set to low volume, but the ambient background audio is blasting away %100.

No this is a bad idea cause then botters will know when someone is sending them a tell whle they are watching tv or somethign adn come running back to reply

I would like to get a chime sound for tells. In fact the exact same sound as XI would be fine...

If we implemented something similar to FFXI, it may be possible for us to do. We're currently in the process of testing a system that will feature multiple sound settings, so please give us a bit of time to investigate.

Surely there were many players that never used the chyme sound for /tell in XI. Personally, I found out I could pay attention more to what was happening outside my chat log with the chyme on, not having to keep looking back just to check if someone was sending me a /tell and disrupting my concentration. For example, I would be watching a CS, and I hear the chyme, I have two options immediately, I look at the /tell because is one important enough and I was waiting for it, or, I have a fair idea how is talking to me and know it can wait till I finish the CS, but is already in the back of my mind and I will remember to check the chat log and see what was said, and not browse the chat log blindly just in case someone talked to me.

I had heard about it but I never used it. By the time it was implemented I was slowly weening myself off of XI anyways, but like posters have said in this thread already and like I've always said.

Make it toggleable!!

Having a chime on trade offers and party invites would be awesome.

this is fine as long as i can turn the clime/ping sound off in config. Would be annoying as hell if someone spammed it in your /tell bar or multple people are sending you /tell messages.

Maybe it should only ping if your not..

A... Not typing
B... Not doing anything.. like your in Sleep Mode
C... Have a 2min time limit till next /tell to Ping.

Yes to chime, please and double yes to <call>! It was such an inventive feature in XI. Being able to run to the kitchen and grab some food during down time and knowing that if something went wrong (over eager puller, random aggro) I'd hear the <call> macros and be able to come back in time. Not to mention how many times the controller vibration jarred me awake during all those long hours farming god pop items :P

If they use the same chime as FFXI it wouldnt be very annoying, I could have conversations for hours in tells, with multiple people and never get annoyed by it. Its more a helpful feature than annoying

You can spam in XI but the chime doesn't go off if you receive a tell in quick succession.
