Okay you've been put in charge of FFXIV rework
What would you change/fix/implement etc to make Eorzea a better place for both new and old players.
(Be reasonable)
I would let the current devs come up with the new ideas so that it could be an exciting surprise for me to play/enjoy.
I would implement a love / hate system. Doing certain leves grants you love or hate for the city that the leve is linked to. The higher the love you have, the cheaper items are in stores, repair NPC gives you a discount, certain levels become available. Only people sharing a specific love / hate can take part in these leves..making them feel unique. Maybe having a high enough love / hate can grant you special gear...idk. It seems like an interesting idea and would make levels a bit more fun
Art wise... (some animation/script stuff)
-Fix up ocean water effects (Seem too oily)
-Get a polish pass on each area adding details and giving blended yet unique look to each.
-Maybe rethink the "aether camps" making them small outlying villages with scripted traders with choco carts/balloons
traveling between them to give more life to the world. Add quests to them so it doesn't feel like the main cities are your one stop shop)
-Tied up with previous would work on textures for Dirt paths roads... maybe some bridges over the little streams and add tracks from carts... footprints etc... along these paths so they feel "used"
-Think about the possibility of playing with elevation more so things don't feel so flat (There is a few areas that do this well)
-depending on lore : add "Taint" to areas where the empire/beastmen are trying to make a foot hold etc.. something that says "oh wow, we should take care of that now!" a little more than some fences.
-Blackshroud I think of all the zones this one bothers me the most it has the feel going for it (mostly the music and color i think), but it is like a corridor 3rd person game when you are there. lots of skinny windy paths etc... I would rethink this and try to have more Open areas with in the forest (this isn't to say no trees) just not small skinny paths.(we know this can be done or the other zones wouldn't work) I would also think about doing a little more with the trees themselves why not some camps up in the trees a little more or on the edges of cliffs with waterfalls etc... maybe some of the lake type areas / ponds have long sections of bridges etc.. The blackshroud is really missing out on some cool vista opportunities in my opinion. also the concept I saw of Gridania is not really what it turned out to be in my opinion.
-Get rid of some rocks in the game there is WAY too many rocky surfaces even the grassy surfaces feel like its just sitting on rock get some Moist soil look in there - some mud etc.. I feel like quite a few Final fantasy games suffer from not enough "mess" too much "clean"
Anyway I had more and got distracted by something else sooo I'm just gonna leave it as is for now lol
Replacement of the Anima system for something that isn't stupid would be the start, after adding chocos and airships.
Choco raising.
About 500 quests to be worked on because there just is no where near the same as other MMOs..
Add some life to the areas by making actual interactive stuff in the environments!
Remove everyones maps and make 'em quest for it or give something like a Fog of War, where they unveil the map by travelling. If they want to have the whole map, they gotta travel everywhere (this coupled with the interactive environments and 500 quests thing)
Add more NMs that do not spawn every 2 minutes >.> try every 2 hours.
About 60 more of each weapon type. Even useless ones to make the cool ones look cooler. ^^
I think anima is ok, I would defiantly make it so you had to visit the crystal the first time before being able to go to it though. Logging in with a fresh character and getting teles from people to pick up camps kinda ruins the exploration thing a bit lol.
NMs spawn rate I think is fine as well... either you can kill and get your item after numerous kills... or you can't kill it for any number of various reasons... Making long waits on NM pops just makes "lines" that doesn't really add to the fun of the game in my opinion (in fact it kind of does the opposite), if you think their too easy... than we should be saying make them harder not pop less. - in fact I pretty much disagree with any idea that makes the player bend their life's around the game. Playing should be fun and when you want not when the game dictates you should. (Example: wow I really want this ring, but it doesn't spawn for 1.5 hours still... *log on next day* damn someone got it... gotta to be to XXXXX by then.. guess next day.. Do i have to do that? no but I want the item so thus I start bending my real life around when the NM pops) so on so fourth. The only exception being content that requires large groups either I can get a group or I can't...
Everything else I pretty much agree with that you said.
Please post more my fellow forumers as every thought counts towards feedback. :)
cancel the project
I would've gone with a destroy & rebuild a long time ago when the window was kinda open for it. Some people then still didn't want the game to shut down completely, but now people are really attached to what they have.
I would hire Chuck Norris to roundhouse-kick the code'n'servers and hope it gets better.
In order of Priority:
1) Chocobos, Airships
2) Linkshell administration
3) New content: Merge subquests into the levequest system, add more variety to current levequests, implement new dungeon types (large scale, small scale, non-instanced, etc).
4) Combat system rework: Rollback to the the non-Autoattack system, streamline TP/Stamina costs, recalibrate damage for TP skills.
5) DoL/DoH revamp: modify the existing systems to make them more engaging for the player.
6) New zones
7) Housing system
8) Class expansion
9) Atmosphere detail work; making cities more alive and dynamic.
10) Etc.
Lots of great ideas on the thread so far. I think I'll post another one! Personally, adding new content is great, but something they should focus on is conveniences. Give us the things the game should have had since day 1.
Auction House
==============
Get rid of the retainer system and just implement a darn Auction House. You can set up your item(s) for auction. You would have to pay taxes and the higher of a deposit you pay for setting an item up for auction, the longer you can have it up. The items you win through auctions get sent to you via mail. If you lose, your gil gets returned the same way as well.
Items are categorized, you have a search bar, and you can order them in different ways (high price first, low price first, and recommended rank).
Moogle House
==============
With no more retainers, your items can be stored in your own Moogle House. Your Moogle can be customized with various clothing and accessories. You're given one storage chest...others can be obtained through quests. You're able to invite people to your Moogle house. The amount of people you invite would depend on the size of your house (you can pay to get larger spaces). Also, crafters will be able to make furniture and various decor (sofas, tables, chairs, picture frames, statues, etc). The house starts off as a tiny place, but can eventually be transformed into a two story mansion. The chests for your items will be made visible and you can place them anywhere in your Moogle house, given that you have space for it. The smallest Moogle house can gold up to 2 chests..2nd expansion can hold 3, etc.
Mail System
==============
So your friend isn't online and you want to send them a message? Send them a mail! Go to either your Moogle house or the mail box in town or settlements and send your buddy mail. You can also attach an item with each mail you send. You can also purchase or craft paper with different backgrounds to give your mail some meaning. A Moogle dressed as a mailman would clearly be next to every mailbox.
Engraving
==============
You're able to engrave symbols or text on items. For instance, if you craft an Iron Dagger, you can engrave "This fine Dagger was crafted by....". Players can then see the engraving when they check the item in their inventory. This would just add a level of uniqueness to the items you create.
Vanity Gear
==============
You can equip things like halos, wings, mustaches, costumes...because why the hell not?
Villages
==============
Turn areas with crystals into settlements and small villages in some cases. Also add NPC characters around all of them and will offer quests from time to time. (somebody mentioned this already)
Animations
==============
Add new animations. I would add a few more animations to auto attacks just to add some variation. Also, each spell would have a different animation. For example, Fire I and Fire II would have the same animation, but it will be a different animation from the Blizzard spells and Thunder spells. Maybe the animation for Fire can be your character moving their weapon in an upward motion, blizzard in a forward motion, thunder in a downward motion, etc.
Spells
==============
I would change names of spells to better match the names we see in most Final Fantasy games...Fire II > Fira, Cure II > Cura, etc. Maybe Curaga can become Curaja or Cure All.
Mobs
==============
No, not bosses. I would concentrate on bringing back classic enemies missing from this game. Marlboro, Behemoth, and several others back. Also, there are a lot of enemies with the same exact model....I would change the color so that no two enemies look alike.
1. Fix the UI, allowing it to be handled client side to reduce delay in actions, as well as overhauling the system itself to be more intuitive and less awkward. http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...entry?e=216112 ; http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...entry?e=216351
2. Fix all the small bugs that shouldn't still be in the game (like the chat input window resetting after every action while crafting, Aegis boon causing enemy attack animations to cease for it's duration and I'm sure many more.)
3. Add more traits for each class that are earned through ranking. (Accuracy bonuses, defense bonuses, hit point bonuses, etc.)
4. Add content centered around the settlement areas, open up the guilds, add aetherial crystals and an adventurer's guild complete with unique leves for each settlement.
5. Add an item delivery system, possibly through retainers?
6. Integrate more travel options, Chocobos/Airships.
7. Change leves from singular mini-instances to quests that take place throughout a given area, allowing multiple leves to be undertaken at once and removing the timer. Further expand leves to complement the dungeons, giving players multiple goals while in a dungeon.
8. Revise the plans for the job system: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...entry?e=216106
9. Allow equipped actions traits and gear to be saved per class.
Uh, I'll leave it there for now...
I would start by adding Transformers, and have Celine Dion playing on repeat in every zone.
I would also make it so that you lose experience whenever you speak ingame, and then take all players with Sephiroth variants in their name, and set them on fire.
I would finish by adding a power rangers mode, which would allow you to take orders from "the 12" (Zordon) to go out and save Angel Grove from Rita Repulsa.
There would also be a Gran Turismo mode, with realistic crowd effects.
Did you forget this is the internet? HA!
What I would do is a lot of what others here would do.
My main priority would be: New Content (meaning new models and areas, no copy/pasta crap) and Linkshell Administration.
I would also completely change workflow as at the moment is garbage, seriously it takes 6 weeks for a new car and 6 weeks for a new browser, but 6 months for new gear is just garbage. Hell even the foundations of facebook was built quicker than SE can make new panties.
I would also possibly fire some people, depending on how slow they work.
Linkshell admin tools
Level sync
Allow repair box to repair 100% at a higher cost
Make a toggle for action bar or macro palette to be set to primary use
Abolish the auto /wait 1 between macro lines
Add a color palette to the LS emblems
Allow LS members to see the rank, current class, location and city state of fellow members from LS menu
Allow players to change their city state for a moderate amount of gil
Return of map markers
Allow quests to appear on player maps with a toggle ofcourse
Make it so more then one mob can be claimed at once but limit it to not include open world NMs
Addition of player search and /seacoms
Spell and skill animations
Addition of in-game tutorial for battle regimens
Expand the gear coloring for more diversity no matter the material
That's just to start...
Gee, Big list to rework:
Redesign Eorzea
================
Redesign Eorzea completely, redo the zones so they feel much more adventurous:
varied in landscape - have a huge variety in landscape, waterfalls, sea, sand, desert, islands, jungles, marsh-lands, rocky lands. Not have one massive zone which is literally the same landscape from beginning to end.
Make sure players have a unique experience in every rank range, eg. 1-10 very different experience than 10-20, etc and each require you to venture. eg as in XI: Sandoria -> La Theine Plateau -> Valkurm Dunes -> Qufim -> Yuhtunga/Yhoater jungle, etc .. each area would feel rewarding and unique, adventurous and an accomplishment.
Caves and mines are very bland and dull, they need to be bigger, more open, more creativity and more life in them. As for eg. Ordelle's cave.
Nuke Gridania, redo from ground up, instead of a very boring and depressingly dark green repetitive maze, have it a brighter lively vast and open luscious forest, like Sanctuary of Zitah and Jugner forest, with waterfalls, have it transform in landscape from one area to other, reach a cliff, a seashore, an interesting cave that perhaps is a passage to seashore on the other side, etc.
Beast encampments need to be bigger and cover full regions, feel you're going into a dark danger zone, not just a small hut with 30 mobs surrounding it.
Abilities
================
Abolish complete list of abilities now, revamped from the ground up - too many redundant abilities which add little significance to the job.
Remove tier II of skills too as again they feel very redundant and waste of an ability.
Have a short simple clear yet effective list of abilities for each job, each very unique and they completely differ in animation/damage/style/importance.
10 meaningful and useful abilities better than 40 redundant abilities which take up space and hype.
Make sure players look forward to abilities when ranking up 'cause they're worth it.
Also make abilities job specific instead of having a mage and archer perform a concussive blow -.-
Have abilities pre-loaded into jobs when switching.
Job/Subjob system
================
Replace Armoury system with Job/Subjob system - Bring back the classical job based FF's. Only utilize 2 jobs at a time max so each player has something unique and limited in what they can offer and can feel pride in their job, instead of the salad roles we have now.
Animations
================
Make the weapon skills much more wild and thrilling instead of mostly duplicate animations with different color effects as with pug for eg. Each skill offer a different animation, somethin like light strike, pummel and flurry should each bring some new and different noticable animations. Bring some kicks in, more jumping, more creativity.
Also, somehow make each player the focus of the screen when they do their skills so each player can shine separately,have their 1-2 seconds of fame, instead of each executing without others taking much notice as it now. Makes it more rewarding, engaging and fun.
Sound Effects
================
These go hand in hand with the animations. Fists get a stronger painful blunt sound, swords slashing, polearm piercing, emphasize the sounds, it just completes the experience of the animations in a much nicer way.
Mobs
================
Less rats and more beastmen.
As there were, Gobs, orcs, yagudos. Would bring in some new beastmen and have them roaming around, each city has it's own unique beastmen. Instead of being infested with mice, mushrooms and fat dodo's.
Also, even the more aggresive mobs we currently have need a redesign, i can't help but feel they're skinny and wimpy looking, like the wolves. Make the aggresive mobs bigger in size and fatter. Amalj'aa are a positive example.
Other important point is having variety amongst the same species, would have a rank 30 look different and inferior to a rank 50 or 60 of the same species. Be it the form, body shape, size, horns, spikes, colors, movement, abilities. Should feel you're fighting something stronger and you gained that privilege by ranking up.
Better and more varied distribution, bring new shapes and forms of mobs and not have them duplicated all over Eorzea.
SKillchains
================
Bring the skillchains and bursts in, make the battle system more fun instead of button bashing. Perhaps have a new skillchain system, not sure how feasible it is, but somethin similar to what we have in console rpg's. Would be nice to see 2 players sync and have a unique animation and an aura around them to show they're performing a skillchain instead of just one person performing another skill after the other. Maybe introduce a whole new list of Skillchain abilities alongside the normal abilities, like in Chrono Trigger (2 and 3 person skillchains). Something new, cool and fun.
Transportation
================
Bring the various transportation methods, chocobos, airships, heck even flying dragons, bikes and other forms. Remove Anima system completely, still have teleportation available but not through Anima system. Through crystals, scrolls, magic. Have it make sense and a privilege to be able to teleport, not every tom, dick and harry.
Aetheryte camps
================
Completely redesign these camps. Have each camp different and unique based on the area it's in. increase the size of the camp, make it a nice unique experience. The crystal should increase in size to become a landmark , make players see it and it's Aura from far away and feel awe when around it. Make it a teleportation center and what ever else.
Missions
================
Abolish Leves and replace completely with missions. Have casuals gain their SP but in a fun manner, not a dull boring repetitive leve system. Make FF more mission and quest oriented instead of leves. Make people go out and see what Eorzea has to offer while gaining their SP.
Also make missions and quests more entertaining and challenging, tie them more with story and lore, not dull boring quests.
Music
================
Redo the music for alot, probably most areas.
Some tracks are quite good and need to stay but others are horrid. La Noscea has a nice theme and my favourite track which FFXIV excelled in is "Nail of the heavens" the battle theme of La Noscea, that's one beautifully composed track. More of this stuff.
Would bring in music similar to Sanctuary of Zitah, that was a masterpiece.
Many tracks here plain suck and feel like ancient squeaky atari style music, like behest and the r30 dungeon. There is this old-school atari theme happening and its rather annoying. Bring the drums, the bass, the flutes and destroy the midi style music. All previous FF's had beautiful music, can learn lot from them.
Auction House
================
Nuke the wards and put an Auction House.
Gear/Weapons
================
Make gear and weapons job specific. Remove optimal gear and make gear rank specific so players have a bigger incentive to work for. Also have way less generic gear and more job specific gear to set players apart. Have unique looks for all jobs.
Introduce significantly more gear and weapons.
Party
================
Enhance and simplify party search, make it much easier to party up so people start enjoying game together and meeting other people. Make it easy enough that even casuals can quickly get a party sorted and on their way to engage in battle and easily gain sp this way rather than leves. Casual play should be convenient but fun, party play should be encouraged for all.
UI
================
Completely redo the UI design. the gear, inventory, windows, icons. Looks ancient style now, make it more appealing, bigger size.
Make it very light-weight, easy to navigate, no lag.
Redo the chat window, something that works, similar to XI. it's too laggy and obscuring now. Have one easily type and navigate chat.
Content
================
Add much more content, exploration/adventure and fun activities.
Optimize
================
Optimize the game so it runs more efficiently and less hogging of resources and overheating.
Auction House.
Step 1: Play something else.
Step 2: ....
Step 3: Profit.
Gennosuke, that sounds like a game i'd play forever! <3
A lot have been mentioned, but I'll be posting it just for the sake of sharing.
-Redesign the Zones.
-Rework on Collision and Animations.
-Add more Content.
-Add more things like Imperial Assault in Horizon and Tranquil.
-Add a Fame System for each city, the more things you do in a City, the more famous you are + Advantage.
-A Title System Similar like Fantasy Earth Zero. Like Beating Batraal gives you the Title [Valiant Warrior]
-Make Title so it gives Stats Boost, although not by a lot.
-Reduce Anima to 25. Make Teleporting from Camp Costs 0 Anima, but not Nodes.
-Make Transportations[Between Camps] available in any Camps, like Chocobo Carriage.(The one in Ul'dah Story)
-The Ability to call Chocobo anywhere. No Restrictions for Personal Chocobo.
-Add [Speed Boost] for Personal Chocobo, Max of 3 times.
-Places that can only be reached using Chocobos.
-Chocobo Mounted Cavalry Battle. Chocobo [Engage] and [Run] Mode. Engage mode for Cavalry Battle while Run Mode for Speed.
-Add [Morale](HP){3} used when Running away from monsters who still aggro on Chocobo.(Certain
Areas only)
-Make the Camp livelier, Add Roaming NPC[Monsters, etc], Guard NPC and Traders Passing by.
-Make the Camps bigger with more things and not plain view.
-Make it so you can enter those Cottages in Camps.
-The Ability to build a tent in the wilderness for various usage/usabilities.
-Make Random Monster Assault the Camp at a Random time. If no one or someone fails to prevent them, the NPC there will disappear and you can't use the [Transport] [Shop] [Favor] and other
features of the Camp. Players will need to rescue them.
-Add more Lore-connected Quests.
-Have Chocobo Breeding, Rental ones and Carriage ones. + Chocobo Whistle.
-Have your Path Companions accompany you whenever you do Solo things like leve, Assault, etc.
-More Grand Company things! XD
-Might be cool to have some FFT Job-System, although I think It has to be XIV Style! :P
-More Zones, Unique ones, and Dynamic at that.(Maybe Dunes, Snowy or Volcano Area)
-More cool-looking gears.(Can use SE's Gear Customize system)
-Magitek Armors and Machines for travelling.
-A place where PvP is available. Say, an Area that has a lobby, Training Room, and Fighting Room + A Gate for Instanced PvPs.
-A PvP Mode that differs from PvE mode that will not affect each other and both can be activated when switching through PvP>PvE Area.
-PvP mode for PvP that can be accessed in different city. Ul'dah: Coliseum, Limsa: Pirates/Naval Battle, Grid: Elementals and The Woods Maze fight.
-some of FEZ Type/Mode of PvP.
-Group Crafting.
-LS Headquarter, Airship, Ferry and Personal Area.
-Chocobo Racing!
-Mission Boards system like what FFX-2, FFXII, and FFXIII had.
-Add more Unique Roaming NMs.
-Add more thrill during Night Time. (Skeletons appearing out of the ground and starts chasing you)
-Add a Sharlayan/Ishgardian Dragon Mount for flying/hovering.
-Add more ways of leveling.
-fix the wards and economy. Make the wards more organized and easy to browse.(There's lot of Ideas about this, you can search the forum :P)
-Make the total of Free Retainers available to Hire into 3.
-Make the Wards show HQ and differentiate it from NQ. NQ, +1, +2, +3.
-Make it so people can only summon 1 Retainer per city Wards.
-Make it so people can only summon retainer on stalls.
-Make the Wards Larger since Stall is the only one available.
-Fix the LS Administration
-2 Battle Themes for Day and Night, just slightly different. I.E Night is more extreme and thrilling. Day is more casual and classic.
-Player Housing, Personal Instanced Area.(I.E Mog House)
-Battle/Monsters appearing at Ferry/Naval ride and maybe some Sea Monsters[NM]
-Monster Behaviour(Running away, never-ending chase, following, etc)
-I'd love some of Monster Hunters' feature inside the game.
-Fix the Hiking bug when an enemy uses Knockback Skill and you're on a wall.
-Reduce the time needed to log back after DC. :(
and many more!
-Focus more on the class system instead of adding a job system
-Redo the UI to be more modern and less menu based
-Remove the animation lockout for spells/abilities/etc.
-Optimize the game
-Ability to upload your own LS crest
-Scrap and redesign zones
-Redo the LFG system and add a search feature
-Type of seige system where Crafthers/Gathers would also play a huge part in defensee (Building weapons/tools/etc.)
-Content that can be scaled based on people's party size/skill range.
-Adjust respawn times so mobs spawn quicker to make more effective camps
-Leves would still be active when you reconnect instead of an auto fail
-Remove the lalafell race
My first Priority would be fixing the communications and building community related items.
First, fix the party search function into something that is so seamless and easy we will be bragging about it to everyone.
then, Boast the Link shells system with full options of control for leaders and promotions/positions for members.
then, Housing, an Amazing instanced housing system that is fully customizable where anyone in your link shell/party can enter with permission.
after the community fixes, Massive UI optimization and ease of use, then
content, content, content, Expansion with PS3 launch.
Start charging for the game,
higher more staff,
content content content, rinse, repeat.
hmmm if i was in charge of the rework, delete all the trolls accounts so we can get proper feeback and sugesstions to work with.
No one's really suggesting anything new and/or revolutionary, the general theme seems to be "More...." so, honestly, it sounds like everyone's going to be pretty happy in a few months time when the dev team's managed to realise a lot of this stuff.
If I in charge, the main thing I'd change would be more frequent producer letters. They don't have to contain a huge amount every time, but simply dishing out a bit of concept art to keep people interested in between larger letters would probably help the community atmosphere.
Also I'd get back on the Q&As, we had like 3 and then they stopped?
I would help the Dev. team to make this game better.
Oh wait...
So you feel that only positive and sunny feedback will help improve this game?
Trolling, while not always useful, and admittedly I love doing it on this forum because there are so many wadded up panties that are easy to set off, can help point to a prevalent problem which has been sunned over by the people wearing rose tinted spectacles.
I personally lean towards ridiculing the games terrible lore, as this is the only FF so far where I have not been able to follow, understand, engage with, or enjoy the story in any way. Honestly to this point, I see the story as:
I woke up on a boat, then some fish attacked, then Leviathan jumped over my boat, but no one believes me. Some pirates attacked, then a woman made a magic shield around me, so I went to Gridania, and stole or saved an egg for some flying cabbages. I then went to Limsa again, where I met the same mithra who keeps showing up, and then went to Mhordona where I planted crystals. After this I met the cat woman again, and then we all went to meet Ifrit, who spat some fire in the air, while people were worshipping him.
Every other FF game has had a brilliant story, XI being one of my favorites as it was rich and engaging from the start, this one is just "Hmm how far can we make people walk to give them the impression of being on an adventure?".
So yeah, while I openly troll, and enjoy it muchly, there is a method to my mischief.
First - Speak to the CEO and demand more staff to be assigned to the project.
Secondly - Redesign crystal tools to be more dev friendly
In no particular order :-
Nuke Gridinia and re-design a more 'open' forest enviroment.
Add in male Miquote and female Roedagyn chars
Implement Chocobo's and Airships and increase anima cost
Implement hundreds of new side quests and leve quests
Implement Behest difficulty setting 1 - 5 star rating
Design hundreds of new weapons/armour/role play clothing
Implement player owned housing.
Add more storyline quests.
Add main storyline choice option (ie, non set paths where while completing the main quest the player can choose 1 of several option's and that choice has reprecussion on how the main scenario will unfold.)
Implement more raid/dungeon style play for high lvls
Open up Ishgard and surrounding map
Add more company quests including linkshell co-op quests (building a cake/ship/housing etc)
Add new tier 2 job system
Implement fully functional UI that can be tweaked by the player on the fly and to include drag + drop functionality
Implement robust Linkshell system so that players can be booted/added from any location in Eorzea.
Implement PVP instances, things like defend/attack castle's, introduce linkshell competition table matches and monthly/yearly tournaments.
Balance all of the above so playing is beneficial to solo/casual and hardcore players.
Release PS3 Version.
:D
I would put in mailboxes instead of jump. Seriously.
Ive been put in charge
the first thing i do is flat out tell people, NO AH
then i say NO JUMP, and laugh at eva
then i go into the forums, ban dubont, gifthorse, and tony, and any other obvious troll i find
then i finish the battle rework, and put up 20 new instances into the queue to get done so people can stop bitching about lack of content
I'd go back to ffxi for a week or so then copy the hell out of the job system and AH, only with shiny new graphics.
I would request millions more yen and promise all this BS to the corporate, take the money and jet to the US.
Millions and millions of dorras > the game.
This is really long, but if I was in charge this is what I would start with:
#1 Statistics. Add DPS, healing and damage information per character in-game.
#2 Scrap Auto-attack. It was a bad idea that really made the game worse. The original mechanics worked. Now one may auto attack 5-6 times in a solo fight, while the timers on activated abilities are really broken. Pugilist and Archer were just fine before auto-attack ruined them. If auto-attack must be in the game then skillchains (battle regimen) must work.
#3 LFP search. Now that they have forced players to grind, they really need to implement the FFXI method of LFP (looking for party) along with /seacom (search comments) where players can indicate other jobs they'd like to level or gear they have etc. It worked really well in FFXI and it is mind boggling why they didn't adopt that for FFXIV. The existing GUI doesn't work.
#4 Linkshell information and management. Display members current job, level location and company affiliation. Implement chat like FFXI. It was just worked better. If you have a great wheel, you don't implement an octagon because it looks better. Allow invitation and promotion from anywhere. Allow removal of members who are not logged in.
#5 Auction House. The game would be better with an AH because searching for gear etc. was easier with an AH and you didn't have to stop all items from selling if you summonned your retainer in another city. Their market system is really odd and does not combat RMTs as they rationalize why they don't have an AH system. I would hide for sale prices which now leads to lowballing worse than FFXI. I would display last sold prices, but would set up the AH so that closest price to the bid wins, not the lowest price. If one bids 40,000 for an item and someone has it selling for 1 and another has it selling for 39,900, then the 39,900 sells for 40,000.
#6 Map markers. It would be really helpful for DoL jobs to be able to mark mining, logging and harvesting spots on the map. It would be helpful to be able to mark NM locations, camp sites and other information on our own maps.
#7 Gear deterioration. I would drop gear wear completely. If not, then this really needs to be adjusted. Weapons and armor should not fail so quickly. Honestly, people expect repairs almost for free when they have no knowledge or compassion for the people who have levelled crafting in order to be able to repair their gear. They continually offer the repair material, 1 gil or 100% more than the materials cost to repair the items that required hours of grinding to level the crafting jobs.
#8 SP boosters. I would add SP boosting rings or items and Grand Company SP boost. Honestly, it takes a lot longer to level any job than FFX1 and that's really saying something. The SP from mobs and crafting is comparable, but the SP required to get to the next level is much higher than FFX1.
#9 Zone invasions. I'd really like to see the more events like Rift's invasions or Campaign from FFXI. They really ruined behest by limiting the party size to 8 and making it only repeatable once per hour. No one does behest anymore. Doesn't that make them wonder why? I'd also allow SP for attacking battlements like they used to have in FFXI before they crippled it.
#10 Linkshell rank, banks, gear donating. Have quests that add to linkshell rank and implement a linkshell bonus system that could increase abilities or strength of linkshell members. I'm not a huge fan of getting ideas from other MMOs, but Rift's guild system is really great.
#11 Free roaming monsters. Get rid of local monster territories. Now that we have to grind, we should be able to pull the mobs to a camp.
#12 Increase spawn rates. Waiting 5-15 minutes for more monsters to appear is pure BS.
#13 Stop running everywhere. Start a new team to develop mounts different than chocobos. Riding chickens is not cool. Raptors would be okay, but not really trainable are they. Invent something new. I'd add movement speed armors too.
#14 Revamp Experience. Drop Physical levels. Make Job experience be XP. Add weapon skill and magic skill levels like FFXI.
#15 NPC help. Add adventuring fellows that you could summon in the field to fight or heal. I would add quests to be able to summon them etc.
#16 Party Assistance. I would allow people to warp to party leaders to aid in SP party formation. You could limit it to 2-3 times a day.
#17 Weekly battles. Make weekly repeatable raids with some requiring preconditions like Salvage where you go in naked and with limited abilities. Have others where completion of one level leads to another. Challenge players to figure out ways to beat the instances.
#18 GM power. Allow GMs to suspend or ban people permanently for buying gil or engaging in RMT activity.
#19 Gambling. Implement FF themed games, races, battles to wager on. Implement PvP improved Parley.
#20. Never add Jump.
I would say to give me another year and a few more 10s of millions to make a game worth a damn.
Thats all.
