compare to the Mael and the Flames. all the Adders have is goofy gears in yellow. shouldn't SE make all three companies equal?

Sorry, I have to disagree. It all comes to tastes, none is better than the other, you pick the one you like. For one, they added some variety to the factions thing, not only the same coat but with different colour. You're free to switch to another GC if you don't like them.
It's a matter of opinions and tastes, really.
I'm partial to Maelstrom, but then I've been Maelstrom since beta and will never change.
But I also like some of the Flames gear and to be honest the Adder's gear works well for the Adders. It has a distinctive woodlands style with the wood, tanned leathers and animal furs. That mage robe looks really good and there are parts of the other sets that look pretty cool too. The weapons themselves have a very hand crafted look to them and again, it suits the Adder's very well.
I would suggest, if it bothers you enough, that you change Grand Companies.
you don't want to change your GC and why do you think that I want to change mine?
See, that's good advice, except there are thousands of people that would be ridiculously inconvenienced by switching. Not only do you lose your PVP rank and all progress towards the glamour gear that so many people want, but a lot of people are with a GC simply because their friends are and they want to PVP together. Switching would make it impossible to play with those friends, unless they switched as well.
I personally don't have a problem with any of the armor from the GC's, if I don't like it I just won't have an interest in getting it. Simple. But keep in mind that for those that do care, switching might not be the simple thing you make it out to be.
Design wise, I'd say all three are really well made and fit their respective nations.
Taste wise, I'd say the Maelstrom ones are the best (totally not biased because I'm Maelstrom since day 1..)
Popularity wise, Maelstrom > Immortal Flames > Twin Adders (Based on the people actually wearing it ingame and here at the forums)
Maybe if they sands and oils will get outdated with new expansion, we'll see more people actually buying their GC sets.
I think it's a shame that you can't wear/buy the other GC hunt gear. It would be nice if they just made it available but at like double the price or something.
I dislike all the browns in the TA clothing, but I do really enjoy our weapons. They're pretty awesome looking.
It's a suggestion. Not an order/command. I didn't tell you to change your GC, or "Deal with it!". (but really, deal with it)
Also, I don't know why you'd personally want to change your GC, but judging by this thread it would be because of this gear.
Me? I had planned on being in Maelstrom since it was not only Limsa Lominsa's GC (Pirates man, Pirates!), but I also like the color scheme and think Merlwyb is pretty smokin'. She can be my Admiral any day.
I don't really care about the PvP limitations so much, so there's little reason to use that as an excuse. Most of my friends are in different GCs, though some are in the same one as well. It is what it is. (a bad decision)
If Maelstrom had gear I didn't like, I wouldn't complain about it. I just wouldn't get it. The gear is there if you like the look, if you don't then don't bother with it. There will be more gear in the future, be it the new GC gear from added ranks, or be it from additional hunts.
GC Must stay affiliated to their responding Culture and History. So stop hating Adders gear.
Are you kidding me? My bow is fabulous! FABULOUS!

Admittedly, I'm not so enamored with the armor, but then again, since I've taken a shine to running around half-naked there's not a whole lot that could convince me to do otherwise. :)
To be blunt, if I had an interest in playing someone who upheld the beliefs and ideals of the Twin Adder, I'd love the Twin Adder gear, because it reflects everything that faction stands for: A respect and appreciation for the Twelveswood. That's why I affectionately nickname them "The Druids".
But I don't play that kind of character. I play Immortal Flames. Which means all that is available to me is gear inspired by desert regalia. And as cool as the Maelstrom pieces are, they have very heavy pirate influences that would not at all work for my character design, no matter how hard I wished they did.
I mean hey. If you really like the gear of the other GCs more, why not switch? It'll take a little work to get back to your prior standing, but you won't lose your Adders rank and you'll be able to get the gear you want.
Though I'm not gonna lie. I am really kinda fond of that Twin Adder DoW gear. Especially the helm. That helm is really nice! ...and that sword looks a LOT like FFIX's Excalibur II.
I think the Twin Adder stuff looks great. The full-set isn't really great looking but there are pieces that really stand out as unique. I wear the Circlet and legs from DoM and I get compliments and /tells daily about my look. Honestly I find it hard to find an armor set that I like every single piece of. Like many others have said, you can either avoid buying the gear or change companies.

Because there treehuggers :D
Don't except much form them
It's a taste thing, I love the Adder gear most of them all personally.
why do people like what I don't like
I actually prefer the Twin Adder's gear as well. Even though being Maelstrom myself, I have no intention of attaining the Maelstrom sets. However, if I were adder, I'd be all over it.
I like the model of that legs part but the problem is the skirt is not really white. the leg hoses are not really black either. it's dark green or something. that's the problem, all of these Adders gears have very weird colors like dark brown, dark green, chocobo poop yellow, etc. they're not suit with the other gears. and the full sets are uglier.

it's not even good for partial glamour.
true. the maelstorm gears look almost as good as high allagan gears.
The only bit of the twin adder armour I particularly like is the mage head-piece. The weapons are quite good though. Kind of remind me of the Jade/Jadeite weapons from GW1/2.
Overall, the Maelstrom looks best armour-wise, but the weapons tend to be hideous...

Here's my current vanity for my WHM.
The Adder weapons remind me of Glass weapons from Elder Scrolls.
Huh, never seen anyone run around with TA weapons yet and hadn't looked them up but that looks pretty slick. The Maelstrom weapons have cool designs but look made from plastic for some reason (and the MNK weapons not being hooks like the other Maelstrom weapons kind of blows my mind).
That being said, Twin Adder gear looks great as a set and have some nice looking unique pieces. Their color palette isn't for everyone's tastes but w/e. I love the Storm set like many people, but only the chest pieces and some boots... the pants and gloves are totally extraneous (maybe just DoW/DoM) and the helms are goofy as hell. But that's just my tastes, and more power to other people if they happen to love those pieces. That's just the nature of vanity gear, duh?
I don't know I have to disagree with OP...
I think that each set fits the feel and dress of each respective nation. Personally, I am more of a natural tones type of person, so out of all of them I like Gridania's the best. Gridania is a nation of hunters and the gear has a very nature based hunter's pallet. They will blend well within the forests, and protect the wearer from any injuries they might sustain running though the bushes and brambles. It fits the countries mentality and tradition, all of them do.
I think it comes down to the whole 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder', each person will like a set more than others based off personal taste. But I do not think it's horrible, I like it.
Flames looks the worst to me.
Adder kinda looks Indian-y too me...really nice.
Though yeah Mael looks the best for me. xD
Different strokes.
Adder has the best weapons for sure. Jade is such a unique material in FFXIV. Maelstorm weapons are red and gilded with weird designs by comparison.
I feel bad for you OP having to deal with Twin Adder's bad fashion taste.

I was a Maelstrom person since 1.0 but the second I saw the Immortal Flames gear I knew I had to have it. So even tho I love my pirate company I switched to Immortal Flames and Ranked up to max in one (count it ONE) day. Then did like 5 days worth of Hunts and BAM! My bard has never looked cooler.
So if you dislike the Adders gear but not enough to switch then I guess you aren't going to be wearing any hunt gear anytime soon, so why complain? Like everyone has said, they all match their GC, looks like you don't "fit" with your GC. /shrug
Lulz, Adders FTW !

For coloring the Ouja helm yellow instead of purple I sentence you do death by Ouja.

I switched from Flames back to Adders because of the gear. Flames' is horrendous, but I am in love with the Adders.
Once you buy the gear from one company, can you wear it when you switch to another? or even glamour it?
I actually really like the Twin Adder stuff. Those white half-gloves...I might need to get those.
Well this "tree huger" can slice and dice you down! To protect the Twelveswood!

Twin Adder Pride!
As much as I love Maelstrom, I like the Adders DoW chest better. Heck I'd switch gc's if I knew how the chest would look with a skirt, I'm a sucker for putting my character in skirts. The worst for me is the DoM from Flames, I like the other pieces, but not that...
But different people, different tastes.
