Loot Trends [RANT]or[DEV HELP PLEASE]

We as a static have been clearing SCOB for the past 3 months. All we see are tank/brd loot... Our other jobs have been using sands/oil to upgrade their gear.

Anyone sees any loot trends? We usually clear SCOB 10 hours after reset. The multiple weapons that drop for our alt is getting frustrating! No dragoon/monk loot for the past 2 mths. RNG may prolong the life of the game, but seriously.... is RNG gonna make us feel defeated....?

DEVS, please look into this, or if anyone can advise your theory on chest looting..

5 Crooks, four of those in a row. Sorry, but it's working properly. RNG is RNG and won't always work even remotely close to what you want.

But, anyone else suffer from this?

Everyone does. Same loot drops that no one needs, or everyone already has, with 1 random piece out of the 8 that someone is actually looking for.

Realistically, like ~10% (if even that) of the population will have received every loot drop from the binding coils before the next installment, when the gear is then obsolete and you can then farm the previous turns.

RNG works great when it's in our favor... which is almost never.

Yeah SCOB loves tanks and healers. Been clearing for close to 2 months and only one DRG piece has dropped.

MNK/DRG loot all the time for us. Healer stuff is very rare except the belt which dropped 7 times now.

In theory it should be skewed toward healer/tank drops rather then pure random,
Because you normally have 2 tanks and 2 healers.

However, who knows what they actually set up.

Tank (lots and lots and lots), Healer, BRD and occasionally melee items. That's all I am seeing in SCOB. I am doing it since two months without ever having seen a BLM drop. Not a single one although I am in T8 now. It was the same with the 1st Coil where I was iLevel 90 before I saw the first (and by then already obsolete) Coil item for a BLM. I know it is RNG and I know other BLM's who are decked out already so it seems to be my personal hell. I friggin hate the random loot system. I am starting to use Oil and seals for my other chars now because I do not want to be 110 this time before I get my 1st loot. This is just completely unrewarding. Weeks of wipes and training and then...nothing but the win itself. Enough for a few times but each new win without an item for me makes me go Behemoth Gnaaaargh mode.

We had a blm to replace our smn who left. The smn was decked out but the new replacement who ran coil at the same time as us was all sands and oil geared. But since he joined us,he got decked out as well, and even got the high allagan staff. We wonder if it is due to the party composition or raid timings. We run 11pm GMT8 and one shot all the turns without breaks.

I'm not exactly sure what a better method would be, but there must be something. My static mostly disappeared for various reasons so I haven't been doing SCoB, but I remember from the first Coil that certain items seemed to rain down on us while others remained absent for months at a time. It's just how it is with a system like this. I mean, statistically there are probably a few teams out there that always get something new until they've seen everything drop, but there are lots of reports of 'x" gear always dropping, though what 'x' is varies wildly between accounts.

I know there were 2 or 3 pieces of MNK gear form the first Coil that I just flat out never saw. One of them was the turn 1 ring. Must've cleared that 25 times or so, but never saw it.

Wrong. You have to kill the boss while your cat is sitting in the window facing the nearest major city with the tall building and the Starbucks that has exactly 6 people working from 5am to 11am on the next Sunday after the gay pride parade to get the drops you want.

Why is the possibility of PRNG using time as a variable to derive the final value so hard to understand?

We went 10 weeks with 0 DRG drops. It was like a perfect game. But someone had to point it out... then we got DRG loot. Sad day.

We see the most tank gear. Least is caster gear.

RNG is RNG - every week we see the tank or healer boots in T6 without fail....gotta love it.

coil is one of the worst loot systems I have ever seen or heard of in a MMO. With the first coil I cleared everything but t5 for over 4 months and the only mage piece that ever dropped was a ring. Now I got the boots and necklace(worthless) with my first group, Ring on day 1 with my(now old because I moved) group other then that another mage piece has never dropped form coil in months and we have a summoner in our group who needs the accuracy. Same thing is happening with Coil 2 and it makes me not even give a care in the world for coil3 in fact the whole gear progressions from coil is awful and non realistic nor progression. Hell this is the main reason only 1% of players have cleared coil because no one wants to spend 6 months beating the same thing just to get an item not a single person in the party has a use for. In fact I don't know a single person happy abotu the upcoming coil because we don't see a point. A token system would fix all coil problems yet SE refuses to do anything. Now so many people who don't do coil because the loot systems is So God Awful I guarantee if SE fixed loot more people would actually care about coil.

SE is not going to change this.
It is just an artificial increase of content lifespan.

I gave up on the second turn. The lock out needs to go. It was a mess when I quit trying in May. When the lockout was gone on the first turns I had a lot of fun. Farmed a lot of gear I wanted.

I would like to see them replaced by a token system. A boss will drop a token (Unassembled High Allagan Chest or whatever) which can be traded for the HA piece for that slot somewhere, probably Mor Dhona. To prevent loot ninjas they could probably (not certain though) make it so that if you have the HA piece for that class and that slot in your inventory or armoury you couldn't roll need. That way people can't farm in HA gear for their lower jobs or stack quite as easily. Alternatively they could make the boss drop a chest/legs etc, allow anyone to need it (sane check as above) and then give that player the correct item for their class if they win.
