This idea came to me after the latest patch and the whole Syrcus Tower incident. The Void seems to be a strange place indeed. This place is still vastly shrouded in mystery to us Eorzeans however; which brings me to the idea! What if in a future expansion they could make it so we could traverse and explore this Void world? The potential to have a really cool place added into the current content is right in front of our faces. Since we all know of the monstrosities that the void seems to spew out from time to time the creatures inside of this realm would have to be quite strong and would require a group of four to ensure our survival. What if you could take up group quests in a party of four and have to use teamwork to solve twisted puzzles and defeat vicious beings? Now to fit into the lore you have to go in the Void with protection; maybe have something like a special lantern that is made out of unaspected crystal. The crystal lantern's light would keep the void at bay thus enabling you to safely travel this strange place. That would mean that the zone would be placed on a timer much like dungeons are now. Once the timer runs out its game over and you are removed from this world to be placed back out into Eorzea. Once in Eorzea again you could wait a certain amount of game time for the lantern to auto-charge itself or you could buy a "charging device" from a vendor (which could also be produced by the Alchemists Profession). This would be beneficial if you are in a rush to get back into the zone. The ambiance of this realm would need to be as equally twisted as the creatures themselves thus the music would need to be a similar to Tam-Tara Deepcroft (HM) or similar to Pharos. Buildings and different structures could be distorted much like the newest version of the Devil May Cry series' were. Plus not to mention this would give SE a whole new style to their teamwork gameplay beyond just dungeons, FATES, raids and primals. I have to admit that I got this idea mainly from FF11's Chains of Promathia. I enjoyed that content a lot but I'd like to see it made into the FF14 style of play that we all love and set it apart from the FF11 expansion because this game is not FF11 after all. Anyways; this is just my idea of a new thing to do in game and I'm interested to hear back from the community on this so please feel free to share your ideas on here as well. I say this because we fight the emperor on what looks like the peak of the Crystal Tower, so there is no where left to climb. The story also suggests a rescue mission for our friends who were captured and taken into the void. It makes sense that to rescue them, we'll have to follow them there. -

You have a really valid point. This is exciting stuff to theorize about imo. I can't wait to see CT's conclusion, I just want to go beyond CT. The void seems to be everywhere; almost like and alternate reality next to our own. That's kind of what I'm leaning towards. I think many different job quests and such deal with void related issues (I know THM's does at one point).

I just wish SE would clearly state what the difference between The Rift and The Void are just so folks wanting to go to The Void know exactly what they're asking for. They like to use them so interchangeably when they obviously reference two completely different planes of existence. The Rift is supposed to be the buffer zone between the Material Plane (where we are) and The Void. The Rift is able to be traversed because The Rift is comprised of stuff from both the Material Plane and The Void mixed together and, thus, has things adventurers take for granted, like ground to stand on and breathable air. However, what is NOT able to be traversed except by Voidsent is The Void. In The Void, there is no ground. There is no gravity. There is nothingness. That's why it's called The VOID. The void is pretty much what Space is, except instead of actually being Space, it's another dimension where Space is everywhere and everything.
tl;dr:
The Rift: Safe to travel, apart from monsters and such.
The Void: Unless you have a breathing aparatus and have a way to traverse a weightless environment, it is NOT safe! -

AH ok that I did misunderstand in the lore and that's definitely a my bad moment lol. I wonder how the creatures are able to live in the void though? Are they just made out of it and are projections from the void or are they from the rift? If the void is absolute nothingness then maybe they could make a Rift zone; just swap out names and such.

In FF3, the Warriors of Light conquer the Ancient's Maze (Labyrinth of the Ancients) by defeating the Bone Dragon, Thanatos, King Behemoth, and finally Titan (also known as Acheron). They then enter Syrcus Tower/Crystal Tower and confront Xande. After defeating him, a portal to the World of Darkness opens and they end up going into the World of Darkness itself and taking on the four Warriors of Darkness (Ahriman, Echidna, Cerberus, and the Two-Headed Dragon) before fighting the Cloud of Darkness herself.
I don't think the World of Darkness in the CT storyline is exactly going to be the same as the Void that they talk about in the rest of the lore. I think it's going to be more close to where the Ascians are from, if anything. That'd be a good way to tie them into the storyline for CT. -

The cutscenes after Syrcus Tower also involve the scholars saying that they need to prepare for a mission to the void as no one has ever tried it before... so I think it's fair to say we're going to the void. xDQuote:

Exdeath is gonna be next expansion. Remember the destruction of the Students of Baldesion? A lot of FFV references in those conversations. Possible the Crystal Tower style raid next expansion is going to be based on FFV's Void.
