anyone :O?
From what I understand from a friend, the Atma Challenge is the Dev Team is trying to get all 12 Atmas in just 14 hours. I honestly don't think it'll happen, and I won't count it if they claim they got them all across all their characters. At least one of them has to be able to get an Atma Relic at the end of those 14 hours for me to be willing to count it as a success.
O' course, I'm just one random dude on the forums who's butthurt about the Atma drop rates, so my opinion doesn't really matter. ;p
30 minutes into the event, and it looks like they JUST started to do FATEs. Watching the stream on YouTube...and...they changed to something else. If I could understand JP I'd probably watch the whole thing, but the only part I really care about is watching them grind for atmas. O well, I'll check forums tomorrow. I expect one of the CM folks to have a translation or something up of important bits and highlights.
You'd think that for an anniversary stream they'd drop the money for live translation for the other people who helped ARR reach the one year mark.
22 minutes of farming, he got Atma of the Archer from Dschubba Snacks in North Shroud. Off to a decent start.
11 more atmas to go
He actually has a decent chance at getting all 12. Because it's a live stream there's going to be a horde of 40 people following him around just so they can be in the video. Instead of getting the authentic Atma experience of soloing boss fates, everything is going to be melted faster than an A rank during prime time.
Yep, definitely possible. Same thing happened with my FC leader. Got all Atma in a weekend (I believe 12 hours total of farming). Rest of us were envious at the luck, heh.

Is there a separate stream for the Atma farming that I just don't know where to find since I'm blind? Or is the one stream going on now at here the only one? I know of the Twitch / Nico streams broadcasting the same thing.
[EDIT] N/M, just found it on Niconico =D
Tell that to my FCmate... 5 Atma in like 1 hour? I'm still 5/12.
@Ghishlain and Kaethra: I'm not saying it's impossible, I just think that such occasions are exceptions, and not the rule. I personally got all of my atmas in about a week, though most of that was spent on just one, the Eastern Thanalan Atma.
Indeed, let us see if the poor sap doing this will break the record books =p
For me personally, I believe I put a week and a half into my Atma farm, including about 16 hours (12 hours straight at one point) at North Shroud. I was determined to get it since it was my last Atma (of course the final Atma would take the longest, Murphy is most certainly alive and well, heh)
Hate me for saying it, I want nothing more than to see them fail utterly, ending up with only 2 or 3 atma, just so they're inspired to change the horrible attainment method.
I don't think they are the exception. And here's why:
During their 13 hour quest for their atma, my friend was in constant communication with the Free Company and with a couple of friends on Teamspeak. That alone is going to make the time go by fast. Another friend tried to get his atma in a day and got 1 within 7 hours.
Did the second one just get unlucky? No actually.
Here's what happened, he'd do 1 or 2 fates and then go afk and come back and then run one or two fates. He also ran a couple of dungeons and did some other things. In 7 hours he maybe did like 6 Fates. Our friend who got their Atmas in 13 hours was doing 6 fates in a half hour or less. So it has to do more with effort.
Does this mean the drop rate is fine? I dunno, what is fine? That's up for the devs to figure out. Do they intend for it to take 14 hours of nonstop (and I mean really Non-stop) fate grinding? Do they know most will take breaks and space it out? They need to communicate their intention to us. I mean if they expect us to casually run it and get 1-2 Atmas a day with 3-4 hours of work a day. Then it works.
But they also have to ask, "is it fun?" Now that's definitely up for discussion. We've all heard the quote, "The Journey is the Destination." Which means there is something fun to do along the way. I don't believe a grind is fun. I really don't. If I can complete a fate, I can complete 3000 more. Does that mean I should be expected to?
Some people claim that such concerns are coming from people who are "lazy and don't wish to work for a reward." Well no crap.. I don't want to work. I'm here to play a game not work. I work to get paid, I play to have fun (especially when I'm paying for that fun). But on the other hand, playing a game means an effort of progression to win. That effort in itself does not need to be repetitively boring. Repetitively addicting and fun is something different. And thats what probably needs to change about Atma, at least in my opinion.
Whenever a developer creates a reward that requires effort to achieve. They should look at the effort and ensure that it in itself is fun. Idealy it should be fun enough that the reward is just icing on the cake. For example look at the dungeons in Legend of Zelda. You always get a heart container at the end. But you play the game to explore and master the dungeons. The reward at the end is just gravy on top of that. Thats where many mechanics in MMOs seem to lose.
So again I will say this, if I can kill 5 mobs, I can kill 50, I can kill 500, and I can kill 5,000 of them. After gettng 5, I don't need to be tested further. So with that said, I do believe that the Atma Fate grind should be retooled.
As you can see, I'm playing a heavy devil's advocate here :)
2nd Atma. Wow Lucky guy. xD
Based on the thing that guy is sitting on, I don't think the Atma grind is the only grind happening on the livestream...
RNGsus is on NQ Hiroshi's side.
Can anyone provide the link with the atma challenge? I can only find the live letter
Takai-san just got his third atma. It's only been less than 3hrs since he started. What am I doing with my life? Why haven't I grinded?
How2Takai the atamz?
3 Atmas seriously? o.o
Seriously this isnt a challenge when you have 100+ people following you and zerging the heck outa the fates.
A real challenge is go do fates with 1 other person for 14 hours straight. See how many atma you get.
man the keyboard they are using looks archaic.
Drybone now. That was the second most annoying place for me.
First will always be that stupid Goat. uggggh...
I think you should look at how many fates it takes to get all 12. I spread it over a couple of weeks, but did 650-700 fates to get all 12. Some atma's took over 70 fates, one of them I had in 1 fate.
This dude is stopping to put his controller down and eat a 3 course meal, visibly taking his time at it as well. I cannot even believe.
