When is SE going to release the Xbox 360/One version of FFXIV? I have a couple friends who have played FFXI on 360 for a long time and now they want to play FFXIV. Neither of them have a gaming PC so that isn't an option.
Lately SE seems to have pretty good relations with MS since they just announced the next Tomb Raider game will be exclusive on Xbox One.
So is will we be getting Xbox version any time soon?

From the article I found. So IF the article is true and accurate, it's a possibility. Yoshida wants it to happen it appears, it's just a bit of a fight trying to get it to happen.Quote:

Basically it rests on MICROSOFT, because they don't want anyone playing with anyone that isn't on their system(s). The only exception that I know of was FFXI, and that was because they were trying to push the 360 in Japan

I think Yoshi-P already gave a pretty good answer about this. It went something along the lines of MS and Sony's new consoles being so new, that they're trying to establish themselves apart from each other (console war, if you will). Right now, it's all about "Experience this content on xbox one only. Experience this content on ps4 only." And so forth. Yoshi-P said that he's thinking that once it dies down a bit and the consoles have had enough time to establish themselves, that MS won't be as reluctant to allow the cross-platform interaction that they're trying to avoid at the moment.

In a recent Gamescon interview held just a few days ago. They asked him about it and he said the dev team is ready to make a port and he'd be happy to release if on the Xbox One. But Microsoft is refusing to let their players connect to the same servers everyone else is using. So even if SE released XIV on the Xbox now, you wouldn't be able to play with your friends anyways.
Yoshi-P has made it clear that letting all players no matter what system their on, play together on the same server is a core part of their vision for the game and refuse to compromise that. He said he's made his case to Microsoft and the ball is litterally in their court now. Alas he doesn't expect they'll change their minds on their policy at least for the next year. -

Honestly, I don't see the loss considering the compromises Square would have to make for this to happen. It's been repeated ad nauseaum why Square hasn't gone forth anyway so I shan't repeat it, suffice it to say this is all Microsoft being the jerks they... always have been.

SE has been having financial problems and MS offered them an easy buck. Doesnt mean theyre any more "friendly" than they usually are.Quote:

Id be in shock if MS ever did let this happ ;) but they never do anything to shock me so!! but ESO will come to ps4/xone {we think} at some point and i'm guessing ps4 pc and xone players will all be playing together right? so MS will prob have the stick out of there bum by then^^

Yoshida wants it to happen. Hell, he even said the team is pretty much ready to make an Xbox One version at any time. Its just that Microsoft's online policies prevents them from putting the game on that system. Yoshida is willing, but the ball is in Microsoft's court now.
I'm pretty sure once Microsoft realizes how much of a success FFXIV is, they will turn heel and allow the game on Xbox One. -

I'm willing to concede slightly on the XBONE vs PS4 issue, maybe they REALLY don't want their users fraternising with "the enemy".
But not letting them play with people on Windows PC's as well? That seems a little odd to say the least. Apparently Yoshi offered a XBox+PC server compromise but they wouldn't take that either and that really seems like they're being stubborn just for the sake of it and hurting themselves and their player base for bonus points. -

Xbox doesn't deserve FFXIV and Xbox users don't deserve it as well. see what Microsoft doing to you? and you still buying their products? it's all their decision to not allow you guys to play with the other players from other platforms.

Given that PCs that run XIV are also running Windows, Microsoft has no issues with that. It's the other consoles Microsoft doesn't want to play with. This was the case with many other MMOs that have also been on an XBox, like Sega's Phantasy Star titles. Microsoft is pretty much all, "My way or no way." these days.Quote:
