Thank You For Bringing FF Magic Back.

I would like to thank Yoshi-P and to all Team for bringing FF Magic back to FFXIV. I was delaying my opinion on 1.18 patch, cos simply I wanted to give it more time to get better picture. At the first look I was a bit confused with some changes, but after a while I could really feel I play FF title again!

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate good stuff Tanaka bring to FFXIV, that make it even more unique but there was something missing. Battle is slower, but it really feels more FF style now, even some new quests, places and music bring that feeling. I realize ofc thats just beginning of the major changes, but I think its going to the right direction.

So thanks and please, keep the FF Magic coming! :cool:

This definitely feels like a good first step in the right direction! Granted, things are still a bit rough around the edges, but I'm finding myself enjoying the game much more than I have in the past few months. I'm eager to see how things go from here and hoping for the best.

FFXI was not my first mmo, but was definitely the first one I found myself very dedicated to and enjoyed my time playing and experiencing the world of Vana'diel. I'm really hoping to experience that again in Eorzea.

LOL that was pretty vague.. only thing I got out of it was battle is slower lol. Either way, I am happy to see people are enjoying the game more, I myself have been a bit bored lately in game. maybe I will take a break for a bit.

FWI, you cannot post positive things about the game. At all. You only have the option to create threads about important topics like:

For some reason, after 1.18 I've playing like crazy. Doing quests, grinding...solo (omg!) and yep, having fun. I only need chocobos now and I'll be like a little kid going around all Eorzea.

PS: There's a Chocobo near Camp Horizon (forgot the name of the settlement) that does a "chocobo sound". That in my opinion, is the most cruel tease that SE has done for me.

Pfft, chocobo. That was a goblin in a chocobo costume trolling us all. Any chocobo trainer worth his/her salt can tell you chocobos don't whistle, they kweh and wark! I kid, but that chocobo outside Horizon did make my day though.

As to the direction of FFXIV, I love it and I hope that Yoshi-P and the dev team know that beyond some of the more... vocal people (specifically on the forums), there really are a lot of people very happy with 1.18 and the direction XIV is going, so keep up the good work!

Back on topic, however, I'm somewhat torn on the changes. I'm happy that the game has lots of changes, but I'm not happy with the direction of many of them.

1. Auto-attack, did not want in any form. The stamina/MP/TP system was fine, it just needed to be streamlined, and perhaps a system that would backhand players who couldn't be bothered to press more than 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 constantly.

2. Separation between the AoE versions of spells, did not want. Balance the AoE costs for chosing between single and aoe, and the problem would have been solved.

3. Removal of collision detection, did not want. Thank you for removing my sense of substance in the world.

4. Forced specialization via jobs, did not want. Jobs are fine if they're just new unlockable classes, but what is the point of having such a wonderful, flexible system if you're going to throw us right back into role-based lock-down in parties?

5. Dark matter, did not want. There was zero need to dumb down an already simple system. Players need to learn self-management instead of relying on the game to do it for them. If it was that much of an issue (which I don't think it was, at all), a simple reagents tab for our inventory, like what we have for crystals, would have fixed the problem easily.

6. Removal of surplus, did not want. I imagine its intention was to encourage players to be multi-faceted and not try to zoom to the top with a single class. While this obviously wasn't recognized by the vast majority of players, I don't think it should have been removed.

While they're been working away the (what I consider to be) nonsense above, there's so much stuff that would have been better to work on.

A. Launching without chocobos and airships was bad. The fact that we're approaching the one year mark and they're STILL not available is utterly ridiculous.

B. I've yet to see a dev even mention the problem of the playerbase being predominantly in Ul'dah (instead of being spread out among the cities), much less any action to fix it.

C. The UI is STILL far more sluggish than it should be.

D. Instead of finishing the levequest system, they simply tossed it to the side as solo busy work instead of making it into a full, robust system. There's zero reason why the sidequests and daily guild tasts they littered across the game world could not have been merged into the current levequest system. Having all of your possible tasks available at one central location was a fantastic idea, so it's puzzling as to why they seem to be abandoning it.

E. We're not getting a 'Summer' event until August. Aion is finishing their summer event before ours even starts.

Mou. I hate being such a negative nancy, but with the changes we've had and what's on the horizon, I find myself with less and less desire to play (my play time is very limited, anyways). I keep hoping that the game will implement some changes that I'm really happy with, but for now, I find myself coming closer and closer to resubbing to Aion instead.

I feel ur pain Dreamer with some of ur points, game still simply need a lot of work, however all I'm saying is:

I dunno what they have done exactly but they bring the FF feeling with some of the changes already, and this is one of very important aspect in my opinion. As for Aion , I tried that one before, u can play it it's not bad mmo, but I have somehow feeling that after a while it will stay behind in FFXIV shadow ;D

Everything u put that u did not like was what the update added.... Wow your pissed lol.

1.18 was the best update ever in ff14 ALL the new stuff was needed/wanted (by most of the fanbase). keep it up SE.

P.S. raids are cool i can see where SE wants to go with end game content and i like it.

Thanks for the positive thread Sweetheart. I agree with you and ever since this patch hit I've felt something I haven't felt in a long time in this game: I don't want to quit playing it! 2 or 3 in the morning comes along and I don't want to quit playing to go to bed.

I'm really looking forward to the next couple of months for even more improvements. :)

With 1.19 it'll finally start to feel like a REAL FF :P

Choco's, Airships, avatar fight/interaction (Ifrit), Materia system, more Cid and I'm sure a few other things^^

This patch was all about gameplay groundwork and company intro, but starting next patch Yoshi is finally reforming the game into a more traditional FF :D Can't wait to feel that FF love again, feels like it's been forever! (I don't count FF 13 (Obvious reasons) and 12 (Horrid bland story with no character development), yuck... better than 14 but still >.< Least 14 being a mmo it can and is improving its faults^^ ) Hopefully get this patch by end of August, if not end of September xD

1.18 was in fact the greatest update XIV has gotten so far, but that's not saying much. I hope 1.19 and 1.20 get released soon. Those seem very promising.
