Someone might disagree with me, but basically, avoiding CRT and going for whatever pieces that maximize your DET/PIE.
Weapon: High Allagan Crook.
Headpiece: HA.
Body: HA.
Gloves: HA if you need the PIE, Daystar if not (PIE+SPSP vs. DET+SPSP).
Belt: HA.
Legs: Daystar (shit slot here, but the HA is even worse).
Boots: HA.
Necklace: Daystar, or if you don't mind the PIE-loss, HA.
Earrings: Daystar.
Bracelet: Daystar.
Ring1: Daystar.
Ring2: HA.
Ah alright thanks Tranquil. So pretty much left side HA, right side a lil mix. I'm not massively concerned about piety, i'm comfortable managing my mana.
So yeah, practiced T6 for first time last night, lots to do on this front xD I appreciate the help, lets me know what i should be aiming for.

Very similar to the above list, but with HA Earrings instead of Daystar. Whilst I would consider Piety and Det to be optimal, it just isn't possible to optimise for both with 110 gear like it was at ilvl 90.
You'll be after every last bit of MP you can get your hands on once you are working on T7 and 8 :)
No problem. Well, T6 has some pretty sweet drops healing-wise - both the HA boots and the HA gloves drop from there.
Healer loot:
T6 = Gloves + Boots + Earrings.
T7 = Body + Necklace + Bracelet.
T8 = Headpiece, Belt, Ring.
T9 = Weapon, Pants.
Here's one while i've got people with a bit of knowledge xD :
Looking stat wise, i've been led to believe 1 point in DET > 1 point in Mind whilst extra DPS on weapon > both?
The reason I'm asking this is i have almost a fully upgraded relic atma ( 2 books from animus, only vitality ones if i recall rightly). I got the Allagan Cane from T5 last night (how lucky, first kill too! :D ). Now, whilst i love my relic, I'm aware it's not the best weapon ultimately, and i love to wear the Allagan Cane as a lil' badge of honour (lmao i'm sad like that!). Now ultimately, there isn't a huge difference, i think the allagan stacks extra det, where the atma wep has extra on mind.
So yeah, long way of saying any idea what i'd be better using? At this level of the game i want to know i'm giong in effectively geared.
From reading the Healer subforum, most people comparing stats seem to believe that 5 points of Det are equal to 1 Mind.
This generally renders Mind the most sought-after stat over anything else, since it's the White Mage's primary stat, whereas all the others are deemed secondary stats (with significantly less impact on a per-point basis).
Allagan Cane is better while your Atma weapon is still that - an Atma weapon. Even when you have some books done to upgrade its MND, the Allagan Cane has more Magic Damage on it.
Magic Damage is your best scaling stat. When you get your Atma to be an Animus, it will jump from a i90-equivalent-Magic-Damage to i100, at which point it will triumph the Allagan Cane anyway.
Isn't Thyrus Zenith already i90?
Thyrus Atma stays i90 even after all that atma FATE grinding?
No, it is i100, but the ilvl of it is inflated, as it has an i90's stats (beyond whatever books you finish).
Ie.
Thyrus Zenith = i90, 69 Magic Damage, i90-equivalent secondary stats.
Thyrus Atma = i100, 69 Magic Damage, i90-equivalent secondary stats except for the books you complete.
When you Animus-fy that weapon, its Magic Damage jumps from the i90-equivalent 69 to the "real" i100 values.
Allagan Cane is i95, but it has 71 Magic Damage, thus it is better than Thurys Atma, even if one has done the MND-books.

Easiest to achieve = Crit build (gotta love the soldiery gear)
Most difficult to achieve = Spell Speed build (tons of 2nd coil drops, plus the dreaded turn 4 pants)
Currently plan on going this route: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MKA1
Mostly my reasoning is to get 5K mana total and as much determination as I can squeeze in from gear. I use Mulled Tea instead of the typical Buttons in a Blanket mostly because the piety helps me out more then the measly amount of determination would. I've already taken into account the Scholar's Piety Buff.
However I have also done the math for Full Determination, Full Piety, and of course Hybrid mixes, using Mulled Tea & Buttons in a Blanket for food. I don't feel the higher foods warrant enough of an extra bonus to even make let alone use, but that's just me and money is tight. So in case you wanted the math here you go:
Mostly for my own personal records, but I wanted to see what a Full Determination build VS a Full Pie build would be like, and other things in between. The mana totals are estimates, given that 1 Point of Pie = 8 points of Mana, but you also have a set base amount of mana on top of that. The mana totals may be slightly off of what they would actually be, but not by much.
Also keep in mind this is based off my race as a Dunesfolk Lalafell. Other races may be slightly different in totals, but there is an option at the bottom of each link to change your race.
The totals are based off the Party Buffs received from both SCH and WHM, which is 3% of your total Mind and Piety added onto everything. So when you see 596 Mind that includes the Party Buffs, the link itself will actually just show the base amount without the party buff included.

Holy wall of awesome text xD Lots of information, thanks guys!
So going by that, if i want to power boost my actual healing output, after magic damage the next stat to focus on is DET, right?
Determination will give you a small bump in healing power and it will be fairly consistent on a per-cast basis. Crit will give you a large bump in healing power, but it will be random on which casts it affects, so it's more of a gamble.
Piety will allow you to cast more spells without relying on a Bard or ethers.
Spell Speed will allow you cast spells quicker, as well as reduce the cooldown between them (so you're not sitting on the GCD as long).
Ahh alrighty. So the common consensus seems to be, have everything, adjust as needed on a per - raid basis.
Most healers will tell you to do Determination, to increase your healing output to the max. But there are some of us who go a different approach. There is no right or wrong way in my opinion, just go with what you're comfortable with.
I personally like the Determination Route, but the gear this time around is mostly split between Determination and Piety with a few pieces that have both, so I'm going for a Hybrid Build that offers 5K+ Mana and over 300+ Determination.
Also your priority of stats may change as you become more familiar with the fights. Turn 6 starting out can be a little overwhelming as people are learning, you have a lot of raid wide damage going everywhere, you need to be positioned and move accordingly, and the tanks will end up taking a hefty bit of damage due to the stacks. So you may focus on Piety or Spell Speed for this fight until you become more familiar and can manage your mana/heals better. Just using this as an example, I don't mean YOU specifically.
Vid, thank you so much for your in-depth and informative post regarding builds and the math involved, really appreciate that a lot.
