Username: xXDanteCrossXx Server: Faierie my name is Death Scythe. I recently ended up homeless and in a situation where I could not possibly log onto the game while finding a home and new job. The new program in the game which switches the guild leader to someone else after 35 days took effect. When I got back onto the game after losing my home another player had become guild master. Upon explaining my situation and the details that went with it to him he very rudely refused to return ownership of my guild to me. I sent a complaint to Square Enix and they sent a Game Master to speak with me. Upon speaking with him/her I was informed that Square Enix does not allow Game Masters to handle these situations. So now I have wasted and lost 8 months of my life and 275,000 gil and am EXTREMELY unhappy with Square Enix. I was informed by the Game Master that posting here would be the best bet to resolve this issue and possible help Square Enix fix problems like this for people.
My guild was stolen!!!!

Unfotunately there is nothing that you or they can do. When you agree to being a FC leader you also agree that for ANY REASON your forfeit leadership after 35 days. I would remove the persons name from this post as that is actually a breach of TOS. I do wish there was better news for you mate after what you had to go through. Just as it is in life, and MMO is not always fair. I do hope you can understand and hopefully you can find or make a better FC for yourself.

This is why your 2nd in command needs to be someone you trust wholeheartedly.
Also why a website/facebook/twitter for your FC is important. I'm willing to bet they had no idea why you were MIA. If the new leader did know, then he's an even bigger douchebag! -

He knew and had agreed beforehand. He had been one of the people who had helped me found it and up until this point had been a decent person for the past year :( I know ATM nothing can be done, but I know for a fact Square Enix could do something if they wanted they control the servers and can do as they please. I am however only posting on here so they know of the problem and that such a problem actually exists so they can give Game Masters the ability of set in motion some type of system for these types of situations, because in my absence he has basically killed my FC. I just really didn't want to have to lose it I liked it and I've had it for sometime since after I made the mistake of giving over power in my last FC temporarily because I knew I wouldn't be on for awhile almost a year ago.

Yeah I really don't like the ownership passing after certain days since I unsubscribe for periods of time, but SE wants money.
Luckily my FC with my house was moved to someone one of my friends knew and I got it back. My second FC however, I don't know the owner and their trying to sell it ;-; -

It's sad that you lost control of your FC, but FCs can't be left stranded with an absent leader. So yeah, leadership automatically passing to someone else brings a lot more good to the game than bad.

Firstly, congratulations on getting your life to the point again of being able to partake in online games.
Although I'm sorry for your loss, I feel that the system is working as intended and was for the betterment of your FC that leadership passed.
There seems to be a bit too much drama though. I'm sure you may feel that you lost 8 months of your life, but you were only gone from the game for about 3 months. Seeing that you earned achievements on 4/28/14 and nothing until 8/2/14
There's also a highly likely chance that the regular members of the FC left on their own before leadership was passed, if it seemed to them that the FC's ability to grow wasn't there anymore without a leader. I strongly recommend trying to find your old FC members and talking to them about your circumstances, and if possible starting something else up. But be prepared for them to be skeptical of following your leadership, as you've already taken 2 absences from the game and lost 2 FCs over it.Quote:

This was overall a really good change. Back in XI we had literally NO power over our guilds if the leader disappeared. We didn't have a choice but to /breaklinkshell and start over again. At least SE has put something in place so the group can keep on keepin' on.
OP: I'm sorry you lost your guild, but maybe instead of demanding your guild back you should join them for a while and show them you are back for the long haul. I don't blame them for not immediately handing control back over to you, terrible as your story is. They don't know that this time you are back for good, and no one *stole* anyt -

from now on if you ever have to quit for over 35 days and won't accept losing leadership you will have to kick every other member from your fc before doing so. -

You act like the FC is just about you. It belongs to the other players just as much as you. FCs can't just be left leader-less and 275k is very very easy to make up. This seems very over-dramatic. It takes very little to get back what was lost.

If you really love what you built with your FC and they are happy with you back, does it matter if you are the leader? I know in my FC at least we really didn't care who was the leader out of our founders so long as it was someone who was active, would try to get us together to do content and make newbies feel welcome. (Which to be honest, the last 2 fall on all FC members.) You have the same FC, only difference is the title of you, and the new leader. The new leader must have done those things while you were away or you'd have returned to an empty FC. (Or maybe you did? I don't remember reading that though, sorry if I missed it, it's early for me. @.@) :3

I assume you have announced to your fc members about your absence beforehand before disappearing? Then just let them know you are back, the new leader is power grabbing, so they should all quit and join a new fc that you start again. If they prefer to stick with the new leader, then perhaps there is something else in play that we are not aware of.

You had a personal emergency come up and had to stop playing for a while. It would be nice if your second-in-command said "No worries, hope things are better" and passed lead back to you. Did he know that you were going on hiatus for a while? If so, and he's pulling a "neener neener" and keeping the rights to himself... what a poohead. :/
But, if you just dropped off the planet suddenly and he's had to pick up the slack for the past X months, it's not fair to him for you to demand leadership back. You flaked out (for whatever reason), why should the FC members trust you to not do it again? It's extremely demoralizing for a FC to lose it's leadership, especially suddenly and for an extended period of time.
I'm the third leader for my FC. The first ones left within a month's time of creating the FC; the 2nd went on vacation and didn't return (in my case, thankfully he did return once, briefly, to ask who should be leader and I was nominated for the job.) If either returned now, after I've been busting my ass for 9.5 months, and demanded leadership back, I wouldn't be inclined to just hand the FC over like that. :/ -

The point is, If the FC members are bound to you, Start a new FC and start over. Other get in line because someone stood up while you where gone and kept things going.
This of it like this. If the leader of you country couldn't do his duty to run the country he would be kicked out of office same thing just happened to you.
Also for all the people that beleive a FC can't run without a leader, I was in a LS in FFXI for 6 years , 5 of which the Leader was gone. We where only forced to get a new leader when they merged servers. There was 20 active members and they all helped out the active and non active members. Sadly FFXI isn't FFXIV and I couldn't see FFXIV FC lasting without someone calling some shots.
