I'd like to talk about an issue that is already known, but that in my opinion should have a higher priority to be fixed. I'm addressing my question to the community reps, hoping they may answer and shed some light on this matter.
As listed in the 1.18 patch notes:
“Players who lose their connection or log out while in an instanced raid will be relocated to outside the area entrance when logging back in.”
I never understood why you couldn't immediately restart a Guildleve if your connection failed or the server crashed (that is, it's not your fault), and I always thought it was a serious issue that most adventurers weren't really considering. But that's because in Eorzea “I like to do what the moment tells me to”.
Recently, Yoshida-san said that there's a plan (at last!) to solve that issue and allow to restart a Guildleve if you fail it because of a disconnection.
Yesterday, I had my first disconnection while in Toto-Rak. It already happened to other linkshell mates and I'm sure to a lot of other people. I was about to fight Sargas and it happened. The worst part arrived when I returned: of course, I was sent out of the dungeon (even if for a second I was still in Toto-Rak), with the message:
“You were removed from the instance due to connectivy issues.”
...and the linkshell mates defeated Sargas in the meantime. Since I still appeared in the party, I got the achievement for defeating it even if I didn't land a single hit, not a nice thing for the type of adventurer that I am. But all right, I'll just fight it again and pretend this “false achievement” never happened.
The even less nice thing, however, is that Sargas dropped an Ascetic's Half-robe... and it went in my Loot List. But since I already disconnected, I didn't even know I got it until they told me.
So when I returned outside of Toto-Rak, I found myself with this Rank 30 armor Unique/Untradable that I couldn't even wear and that I don't need.
Thus, my questions/requests are:
1) Are there plans to fix the disconnection issue during a dungeon or is it intended to work like this? If one evening I feel like adventuring in Toto-Rak with that good music in the background, if I had planned it with the linkshell mates or if we decided it on the moment, then it means that I want to do that. So if I'm kicked out for reasons that do not depend on me, it doesn't make sense that I can't immediately retry what I was doing, be it a Guildleve or being in the exact point where I was in an instanced raid. Are there plans to address this unfortunately annoying issue in dungeons?
2) With that Ascetic's Half-robe example it is clear that the loot system has a problem. Are there plan for an improved system where, for instance, special items found in the dungeons are placed in a unique Loot List, where the party decides who gets what, so that, even if one party member disconnects, there's no risk he gets an item by mistake? If you could implement such a thing, even if exclusive to Unique/Untradable items, it would solve the problem.

This is an issue that really needs to be addressed. I'd gladly welcome it if they delay the patch to fix this.
Nothing sucks more than DCing and finding out the item you've been after for 3 days drops. And you're SoL due to some BS coding. -

Is there anyone out there that knows why there are d/c issues. I say this because, I have never d/c' ed very-much before, but every-time I get to many mobs on the screen in the dungeon, BAMM , I'm out.

being an MMO with raids planned, id have thought preparing the loot system would have been higher priority than like... moving the mobs around the map and enlarging their size...

Hey guys! The dev. team let us know that they are working on a method to allow players to rejoin their instance raid party after being disconnected, and that this should be implemented by patch 1.19! Hurray!
In regards to the loot system, we are working on implementing a system similar to other MMOs in the future. I also did some digging and saw that we responded twice to this question! Here they are so that you won’t have to dig as far back as I did. See, I’m nice too! :3

As this seems like it's going to take a while it would be nice if we could at least get a /random command (I don't think there is one currently) so we would have something to use on big drops from bosses/NMs until this loot system gets put in.

I'm glad to hear they are working on fixing the d/c,crash rejoin issue for instances. While it hasn't happened to me yet at times my game stops responding so not only am I on the edge as I stay alive in a dungeon but I'm also concerned that at any minute I'll get the elusive "window has stopped responding" message on my game window lol. While sure overall even if we do rejoin the instance we'll still be at a disadvantage since we'll lose time but it's a heck of a lot better then having a run cut short.

I really wish the game would just not keep your character logged in for 10 minutes and then consequently lock you out of the game for as much time when you do get disconnected. Would go a long way toward fixing problems arising from disconnection, I would think.

Ever since they moved to the new servers / server maintence I havnt experienced the 10min lockout anymore. Could be a fluke / luck but at least on my end its been pretty good about letting me in right away(if I dc). -

The disconnection issue is pretty serious, so hopefully we won't have to wait too long for patch 1.19. :)
While for the Loot System, I think the “Unique Loot List” I mentioned in my first post would solve the other issue of receiving unwanted items by mistake. Let us hope the devs will be able to implement a similar feature always by 1.19! -

Need/Greed/Pass loot system right? That's what most non-ffxi mmos have these days.
Would fit perfectly in FFXIV, along with of course the ability for party leaders to determine who gets items (for ls of course).
The connection lost issues are killer, it's hard to get one night where someone doesn't DC in the dungeons. -

Yeah they need to add a loot roll system. I was in a darkhold group today and CON/THM shoes drop, but a LNC got them and later DCed. It's very frustrating.

As a developer that to me sounds like "We wanted to let you join back in, but we ran into some coding issues so for now you will have to go outside and we will fix it when we can". So they got the dungeon released in a working state rather than delaying it to let you join inside. That's just my opinion anyway.Quote:

Most of them have no issues anymore and OH MY GOD, big surprise...most of the time it was on their end...
Nobody can tell me the game has issues with DCing people, when I and a ton of other people I know didn't DCed cause of the game(not my/our end) for several weeks/months...
In 90% of the time I knew people who had DC issues, it was on their end...
My favourite is people using wireless connections and then bitching about having connection issues...or also good, have their game on high settings and then be surprised if it lags like hell, when their comp barely is enough for low/mid settings, but they don't want to miss out on the awesome graphics...
Another good thing is, running like 5 different programs while running XIV and then be surprised they get kicked or have other connection issues(we just recently had a case where two brothers played over the same router, while 2 more comps were running on the same router AND they had stuff like netflix, torrents and whatnot running while playing)
I don't doubt that there are people out there who DC due to the game and not due to their connection or whatever, but this doesn't change the fact that most of the people don't have DCing issues and it's more likely that people need to change stuff on their end to get it to work properly.
