Things this game should have had 6 months ago.

This is a short list of things which should be simple to add and would improve this game drastically. Please post anything else you can think of.

1. Working party invite system similar to ffxi (or improved). Should be able to clearly seek party and search for those seeking. Should also be able to post a msg.
Why? Because it would increase the number of ppl partying, increasing socialization, and keeping more ppl in the game.

2. Auction house or enhanced market wards which differentiate +1's +2's and +3's from normal. Should also have a sales history.
Why? Because it would help to create a more balanced and less random economy thus spurring economic activity and making the game more dynamic.

3. Linkshell management.
Why? Because not being able to kick people or leave a message makes this feel like a MMO from the 90's

4. saved ability sets. Should have a unique ability bar for each job that switches when you switch jobs.
Why? Because resetting/reorganizing all your abilities whenever you switch jobs is annoying and turns people off from leveling multiple jobs.

5. Delivery box or increased retainer space.
Why? Because it would allow people to store more goods and thus improve the economy greatly. Would also promote the leveling of multiple classes.

6. Chocobos, airships, transportation, etc.
Why? Would make the game significantly less boring. Running around a bland repetitive zone for 40 min is not what most people consider fun.

7. HNMs with -very good- drops.
Why? Creates an incentive to get good gear, spurs the economy by increasing demand for good gear.

8. competition. Could be in the form of timed nms, pvp, etc
Why? There is nothing in this game that is competitive -at all-. There is no way to "be the best" or be a top linkshell. Everything is too easy and simple. Competition is what most people play for (psychologically relative gains make humans happier than absolute gains. meaning people are happier getting more than others than if everyone gets more but the same amount).

9. Ability to continue a leve or raid if you disconnect in the middle of it.
Why? why not? you could in ffxi. And its annoying to disconnect or have the game freeze and then feel like you wasted the last 20min.

10. Pets. Summons, beastmaster, chocobo raising, etc.
Why? Because people like them. They were -very- successful in ffxi and they kind of bring a "wow" factor for new players.

I totally agree with most points,especially 4 and 6,which are my biggest frustrations,the lack of travel and being forced to walk everywhere is indeed Extremely boring and the main reason im not motivated to play this game ( amongst other reasons ) .And 4 is important to be fixed aswell,its very annoying to switch jobs and having to set your skillbar straight,it shoud just remind how i set my skillbar the last time and auto rearrange it.

Yeah, we have to ignore the reality of the situation or we'd have no arguments otherwise.

LS management is probably the biggest one on there. There's also the whole d/c thing too that makes this game feel archaic.

1. Agree, although I stand by what I've said many times before. The party search function's biggest problem is that nobody uses it.

2. Agree, minus auction house. The market wards would be perfect if the Item search counter had a way to differentiate between NQ and HQ items.

How about this, great arguement there jennestia BUT I think most of not all of those things should probably have been in the game before they had to rebuild the game from the ground up. I think about 80-90% of the people who purchased and quit the game probly agree with me.

I'd like a better inventory management.
So it's not so slow and they'd have different compartments. Kind of like the Pokemon series where your battle items go in one part, outfits and armor in another, etc. I'm tired of scrolling down 100 items just to find one thing. Just a preference I have for better item management.

We will have "pets" soon.
They talked about us eventually raising our own chocobos and how we could have other pets. But that's in the future.

I'll never get this belief that if you beat a dead horse enough, it'll come back to life and prance on back in time and retcon things. There is absolutely nothing constructive about harping on the past. It's done. It's over with. You'd get far more mileage out of constructive ideas about what should be added, than in clinging hopelessly to what has already escaped any chance of altering.

Yes, yes and yes. Went too far with the combat overhaul, these things should have had priority. But as always I'm holding on to the hope that these things are next on the agenda. :S

The thread says things that could be added and "shouldn't" take much to add.

That would be exploited. Healers for example could DC & leave party in dungeon and spam heals without getting targeted at.

Yeah, and to add to this I really think the Allied states should have stopped Hitler long before 1939.

I just can't get over it, I need to ruminate it here. Maybe someday I can go back in time to change it, when scientists get upset enough with my bitching and create a time machine to shut me up.

But at least we got autoattack, right?

Many of those things bothered me a lot at first (bothered as in, they were missing lol) but I have coped pretty well and my adventures seem mostly unaffected.

But you did hit a few homers-
*Link-shell management and improvements I feel really need to addressed (and possible in game linkshell ads system!)
*Resetting abilities every-time I change classes is a mind numbing task. It seems like a small inconvenience at first, but it has been enough to keep me on GLA for the past 3 weeks (save for crafting)

anything else I can think of off the top of my head, I don't have many qualms waiting over

Agreed.

Add to the list:

-Food effects visible and in the tool tips (thank god this is coming)
-Stats that actually do something
-Interesting gear vs. the same 3 outfits reskinned over and over
-nms for all levels (I have always loved that in XI you can start nm hunting [SOLO] at like lvl 15)
-shops/guilds/quests in all the hamlets

If only in those now 9+ months they would have done something other then make shit bigger, but basic common functions are too hard it seems "inb4codingisdifferentanddifficult" comment.

I would like to add, they should also list every item that can be placed in each respective ward, so it is infact searchable properly. Also a proper way to sort the item lists by level and price, nothing major, its just more convenient imo.

Normally I would agree with the beating a dead horse comments that have been made. We're getting close to the 1 year mark and while I'm encouraged by the changes that they have introduced in 1.18. I'm still a bit anxious based on what we've seen implemented so far.

They've been touting the introduction of companies for months and months now and all we got was 3 or 4 quests. The settlements look really cool but right now are just a new bit of landscape to look at as we run to an aetherite. We've been able to see chocobos and airships in the game since day 1 but it's been 9 months and we're still hoofing it from place to place. The only thing the OP got wrong in my opinion was the title of the post. It should have read things that should have been in the game since day 1. /endrant

Maybe if they keep it up with the bad publicity, people will remember FFXIV even exists when Tera rolls around.

6 is coming with 1.19, 9 maybe too

That's because it's so overly complicated and only allows you to search for a single class per search. It promotes pigeonholing by not allowing users to asses whats available and determine how to put a party together.

Every last one of OP's bullet points have been addressed many times and most of which has already been confirmed as will be implemented at some point. The few that remain have either been resolutely shot down or explained as impossible. There is no need to rehash any of this...again.

explain this. because you couldn't do it in ffxi so why would you be able to do it here?

Whenever I read threads like this it makes me realise how much work the game still needs and then it makes me sad. :(

I agree with everything the OP said, but a lot of that stuff is coming/getting looked at/worked on so I am okay with it. It's all just a matter of when and how.
