Yo Yosh, why not have more dungeons?

Hello Rokien here once again, sadly I didn't get the job I was hoping for, so, time to look again! I hope everyone's weekend is going great, I played a little bit of destiny, can't wait for that! Anyways~ thread time!

Rank 20 dungeon:
-Has more to it

-Chests that have random drops(HAVE TO BE OPEN BY KEYS)<---big thing for me.
-Different level of chests(rare keys to common)
-Multiple floors
-Not instanced
-Fun and thrill of the hunt(claiming the nm)
Rank 50 Dungeon:
-hard NMs
-chest(don't require keys)<---is a bad thing, makes it where you can run through it an not enjoy the dungeon at all.

Though the thread didn't get much recognition as I thought it would. Now that ARR has been out for a while, I think it's a good time to bring it back up.... Open World Dungeons. Not only would it make the world feel more vast, but also more like an actual world to explore with new loot to plunder!

For those who didn't play 1.0 we had open world dungeons that were lower level. These dungeons were pretty vast some going up to 4 different floors with each floor having different rewards and special monsters. I think it would be a great addition to ARR, what do you guys think, would you like to see open world dungeons, again?

Also, the level 50 dungeons I'm talking about are instances. The problem with instances is that they are pretty straight forward and linear no room to expand.

PS3 limitations etc. Interesting idea, but no reason to suggest it when it cannot be implemented at this point in time.

The ps3 is going to really hold this game back.... I mean all they had to do was wait for a few months for the ps4 to be released.

Pretty sure she was being sarcastic because the PS3/PS4 has nothing to do with instances (as that's the route for ARR now) - It was a design decision to do what they're doing now, they're waiting for the expansion to really..."give the game some love" so to speak. So they could do more, they simply choose not to - When asked about more 8 man and varied 8 man dungeons, they said no plans as they feel 4 man is the best route, meaning it has to be 'straight forward' Lost City of Amdapor had so much potential that got wasted.

Then after the expansion it's going to be wait till the new patch...

See the thing is, I'm not talking about instances I'm talking about open world, soo that could be 1-16 man groups, I mean.... they already have 100 man content odin/hunts/fates. Also, the ps3 will limit this game unless they drop it in a few years which, if, they are smart they will.

Also them choosing not to do it is dumb for them to do, they just don't want players to be hindered by anything and the safest content is instances where they can control the enviroment.

I really don't know why you are defending them, I thought most people would want open world dungeons.....

It's all about money. PS3 sold more than PS4 since it's been out longer, thus more money made from PS3 than PS4

Well, let's just think about the most recently added open world content. Hunts. How well has that been going? Not well.

The idea of substantial open world content in 2.0 is dead because the world is too small to support the number of people on each server.

I really like the world redesign but when it takes 30 seconds to choco between Quarrymill and Hawthorne Aetherytes, you know someone messed up.

Very good point but extending these areas through dungeons would open each area up to be that much bigger.

The GCD, for one. I know a lot of people who won't play the game because of it. Personally, I've accepted it and moved on.

Anyway. I agree with the OP. Those types of dungeons sound amazing. I didn't play 1.0. Joined later than the rest of my FCmates. I'm a bit jealous that they got to experience that.

1.0 Was pretty awesome and yoshi, to be honest was making it into something grand. Adding life to the world and expanding on a already massive land. If 2.0 was and expansion of 1.23 I would have been still here.

Ps2 really held back XI in terms of open world dungeon...

You know because almost ALL of them were open world you know.


I really think open world dungeons would add variety to the overbearing party set up rules and endless ques while standing in town.
Don't buy these ps3 limitation bs- stories. The dev team needs to stop insisting on making every dungeon the same way because quantity is adding zero variety when done like this.

Very true indeed. Heck they could bring back grind parties with these dungeons.

You know, they could have done that purposely. So that they wouldn't have to add these open world dungeons and use "PS3 limitations" as an excuse later on.

GCD was a design decision because they didn't want to give us a "real" battle system again. GCD has nothing to do with the PS3 - Care to explain other MMOs with a GCD that has no console version in sight? 1.0 also was designed with the PS3 in mind and had no GCD, but 1.0 was unfinished. Looking at 1.23 (the version people said XIV should have launched as if anything) the battle system was better in terms of design, it felt more natural but had problems due to the engine choice.

Yeah... They likely made the GCD 2.5sec to put console p-pheasa... players on equal footing with keyboard/mouse.

Yeah. They made it slower in ARR for that reason. Among other reasons that sound like excuses to me.

I didn't play keyboard at all with 1.x, I was main controller and I was a great dragoon.
