So the FFXI/DQX events are back?

So this isa discussion for the DQ X and FF XI event being repeated and thoughts

On the one hand I happy thay I actually get a chance at getting certain minions.

On the other hand I can see why ppl would get all butthurt over this, considering it's exclusive promotinal content, thought at least it geives ppl something besides hunts to enjoy/rage over.

What are your thoughts on this (That are related to XIII)?

On the one hand, I do kind of feel bad for the people who were told it was exclusive.

On the other hand, OMGLIGHTNINGHAIRGIMMIE.

On the one hand, it's great that they're giving more people access to this.

On the other hand... is a message saying to look back at the other hand.

Just wish it were confirmed seasonal to make sure everyone will eventually have access.
And that they'd do the same with all the other promo items.

Just yesterday an LS mate asked what the deal was with the Brickman minion. He was disappointed about having missed his opportunity to acquire one. I hadn't expected that the very next day we'd get the announcement that the event would be repeated. It's cool that the latecomers and PS4 crowd who missed out will have their chance to experience this content, though. Just because they WERE exclusive doesn't mean they needed to stay that way.

Eh. I participated in all of these events the first time around. I honestly don't mind that they're being repeated and I think it's great for all of the folks who didn't get stuff the first time around! I wish some folks wouldn't get so dang huffy over it. It's not like time and energy are being put into these events. They're just recycling everything from before. *shrug*

I find myself using the Bohemian's Gloves from the Lightning Strikes event because they're one of the very few hand slot pieces that actually show off bracelet-slot items, and it is my intent to eventually earn myself the Tipping Scales Bracelet to show off my Flames Pride.

Lightning needs to die in a fire. That's the only kind of return I'm ok with.

There's already a thread discussing the Lighting event. Bring your hate/hairwish there.

Where do SE announce these things anyway? Or do they just sneak it in and people report it when they run into it?

It was on one of the slides in the live letter yesterday. I'm quite happy they're bringing it back, I wasn't able to get the Shantotto minion first time around due to RL, so I'll be sure to get it this time around. Not that I want/need ALL minions, but everyone needs their own personal Shantotto :)

I don't get square redoing a event cos it's popular

People have been asking for a ff7 remake for at least 10 years and they still haven't caved yet!!!

Just saying, but if they bring back all the "exclusive" events so everyone can have their rewards, they better remove any trace of exclusivity on this game, from legacy items to digital goods for buying things and assisting to the fan fest.

Not what i want but, equality should be equal for everyone.

news kinda came of quite a bit late, since XI side already has this collaboration event twice, and it's already awhile too. Almost disappointed when SE never announce 2nd event here, that is until latest live letter.

Doesn't bother me at all. I played XIV 1.0 but apparently not enough to get the Legacy Chocobo, and that feathery creation is sexy as hell so bring on the repeats.

Legacy chocobo wasn't part of any event, but you got legacy status if you subscribed to 1.0 for at least 3 months during a certain period.

Wouldn't be surprised if they at some point do add the legacy chocobo design though, but it'd more likely be from a veteran reward, or maybe chocobo breeding.

I would like it if they added something new to obtain. I would love a slime minion or even the slime hat.

I see no problem with them letting people get and enjoy the cosmetic stuff.

There already is a slime minion. Obtained from Copperbell Mines (hard)

I find it silly when people say "Don't re-release old exclusives, create new exclusives!" The two are entirely different. One takes no effort, just turning on a flag. The other takes tons of man-hours away from developing the content they are currently working on.

And, if I remember correctly, they didn't call the event items "exclusive." They just said they didn't plan on running the events again. Well, plans change?

Sure, rerelease 1.xx stuff too and the minions from the soundtrack and don't forget the mog earrings. Why only rerelease these events.

But they are rereleasing 1.xx event stuff... The chocobo rings were available in the recent Easter event, and the swimwear/yukatas will (according to datamined game data at xivdb) be available in the upcoming Moonfire Faire event. The i52 1.xx sets are obtainable through retainer ventures. Who's to say they won't rerelease more 1.xx stuff in the future?

Also, can't you still get the minions from the soundtrack by buying the soundtrack?

EDIT: Hit the posting limit so I can't reply, so I'll put it here. I didn't realize how they were limiting the soundtrack minions. That's a really weird choice on their part. But, if they rereleased the soundtrack minions to people who bought the soundtrack after the code expired, I don't see the problem there. They should totally do that.

I'm not arguing for or against them rereleasing old content, I'm just saying it's far easier for them to do compared to creating new content, and they are doing it at least for some other previously-"exclusive" items besides the events the OP mentioned.

Soundtrack minions are only available on the first pressing of the soundtrack, so you'd have to have ordered early. Of course, being in Europe, ordering it early meant ordering from Japan, or not ordering early. My before meteor I ordered from Japan, the new ARR soundtrack I recently ordered from the EU Square store, but I doubt I'll get a minion code on that one..

For now till the date expires on the redeem code. And that's not everything, they should just release it all. I don't care personally but why skimp on some things and release others?
