At first I was angry. Why, being an achieved crafter with all the classes level 50, I would have the very same 300 points than a less of a committed player who would choose only 3 ? They can get all three to 100 when I can get only two to 100 and the third to 95. Of course, now I know how hard (meaning expensive) it is to only GET to 100 and it doesn’t seem to matter that much anymore.
What’s 5 points when you lose hard-earned 0.01 on a hard-leveled 80, every 5 desynth on a new class, eh.
So desynthesis wasn’t all that appealing at first, but I did it anyway. And I had quite a lot of fun -yes, actual enjoyment- breaking hundreds of piece of equipments just to make more and break them again. Such a simple joy really :)
But I’m not breaking down only to satisfy my inner desire of destruction; I want to make the rare stuff, the millions-worth stuff, the not-yet—sold-or bought-by-anyone stuff, and more importantly, ALL the stuff.
From new primal weapon, to bikinis. I also want the new tools for all my crafting and gathering classes; I am greedy.
But you guys spoiled me… I can have any class/job I want and it is awesome. Not being bound to the first choice you made creating you character. Being allowed to switch so easily from one to another; I love it and I’m sure that’s one of the most attractive aspect of Final Fantasy XIV.
So why, WHY, limiting desynthesis ?
It’s not like it’s easy anyway. Shards price skyrocketed, as well as Grand Company seals materials. Desynthetisable items level 70 and above are all worth over 100k gils.
BUT, I’m not even complaining about that.
What I want is to be able to level up every desynthesis level without dreading the loss of points on the ones I spent millions on. I want to level them up and break down everything I have stocked up.
I don’t want to be forced to level up goldsmith -cause it’s the easiest and mastercraft demimateria- and culinarian -cause binikis- and only be allowed to "choose" one out of the three, which will end up being my favored primal’s needable…
This is why I suggest you find a way to remove the 300 points limit.
Especially for those of us who favored crafting to fighting classes.

I agree with this, I would like the option to be good at EVERYTHING, just like we have with multiclassing, if we put in the time, effort and gil.

I also agree the amount of work it would take to max all would prevent any notion of abuse ...how can we create the mats for the new primal weapons for ALL our characters with only 3 classes able to desynth reliably

Desynthesizing is not even close as costly or time consuming as it is rewarding (if done smart at least) and having every single job at 100 could make some people very rich in a rather bad way.Quote:

And if you don't remove, please make it at least so that you don't loose your values if you are below the 300 cap. It takes ages to get the materials and to bind Ilevel 55 and 70 items. I don't wanna loose that progress when I start a second or third crafter.

While I was initially not much happy about having desynth level total limited to 300 I actually think it should stay that way, the only grip with that is that if you have more than 3 DoHs at 30+ lvl you're loosing up to 5 points from the total so this should be either amended to have total limited to 305 or to not count in those classes which never ever desynthed anything. The same way I was not happy about "randomly" loosing the 0.01 points but that just prolongs the leveling and could be overcomed in the end as well.
tl;dr: Please fix the "305 issue"! -

I'm not at all interested in creating other crafter characters for desynth and then begging my friends to help me shuffle items between them. No thanks.
The new system is a departure from the current standard of multiclassing, and it's not good. Unity is the first rule of design. -

Desynth is "expensive" only for those lazy ones who must have everything now and decides to buy everything rather that gather and craft yourself. I've not spent a single gil on desynth leveling and will not buy anything I can make or obtain myself.

That's the imperfection generated by using the desynthesis skill after you've finished leveling them... and result of having to skill up the losing 0.01 somewhere rather than the one you are desyn'ing again.
