Challenge log needs a bit of reworking

Dungeons are fine.
Guildhests need to be changed so that you have to do 3 different guildhests and ten total. PVP is fine.
Fates, levequests, disciples of hand and land are fine. I'm thinking maybe fishing should be separated from disciples of land. Wouldn't matter. There would have to be something for big fishing though.
Treasure maps are good.
Beast men quests need to be five different ones and fifteen total. Should increase standing with beast tribe quests.
Add a hunt category.
Chocobo raising might be controversial due to it requiring an FC but deal with it, it's an MMO.
Gardening should be added as well.
Player commendation needs to be changed to ten. Five is really nothing, and there has to be a reward for receiving three commendations as well.
Retainer has to be made a bit easier so that quick exploration counts toward field explorations. Not fair for people who don't have extra retainers.
There should be Up for a Challenge V and VI.
Raiding should be added and it should be 3 raids total. Ct 1 and 2 and both coils.
Lastly maybe this should be a separate log where gardening and Chocobo raising can fit but there should be a free company log which places Gil in FC chest and gives FC credits.

You don't need a FC to kill 100 enemies (max. 10 level lower than you) with your Chocobo companion

Ding ding ding.. If I go to a good spot and it isn't busy I can rack up that many in 10 - 20 minutes at most, if I haven't already hit it doing dailies and such.

Mostly good ideas, but this is the best one.

But it needs to be four commendations. Some of us are so awesome that we get three commendations from a single duty roulette, and if the reward includes exp we'll lose out on that if we're on a level 50 class.

He was talking about Chocobo raising. He literally said it and if that wasn't enough there were context clues of "requiring an FC" that should have given it away. He is saying add a new category of "Chocobo Raising" that would probably entail training a chocobo 10 times.

Receiving commendations would be a bad choice to add. Adding something that you have no control over isn't in the nature of the challenge log. I understand that 3 or even 4 commendations in a week isn't a lot, but there is no way to guarantee that progress throughout the week unlike every other challenge.

Getting HQ fish is something a person has little to no control over (especially at lower levels), but that's one of the challenges.

Explain retainer exploration ventures to me... You need 15 in a week, quick explorations don't count and to send a retainer on 2 takes longer than a day. So, even sending 2 retainers constantly on long explorations, you can't complete this unless you pay for a 3rd. I did it only for extra storage, but making this goal require you to make the extra retainer purchase to complete is really sketchy to me. I agree totally that this needs a fix.

I think the "go hunt for a specific material for one hour" ventures count (the ones that are neither 18h nor random)

For the 15 ventures one, they do not. I'm leveling my 3rd now as a Botanist and her botany runs do not count.

I'm not against the hunt catagory being added... but more to the point, I wish the quick explorations did count toward the Field Exploration total.
Alternatively, lower the amount of field explorations.
I usually send my retainers out once a day to do field explorations with the rest being hunts/gathering/quick exploration. I have only once gotten to 14/15 and that was right before reset. Needless to say, I never got the 15/15. ~_~;;

Agreed. They should make the requirement on that one 14 runs. Sending both (standardly available) retainers out every day would complete it that way.

It can be done, it's just not easy and have little time for error.

Math:
7 * 24 = 168 hours in a week
15 * 18 = 270 hours to complete 15 ventures
270 / 2 = 135 hours with 2 retainers.
33 hours left for "in-between"

So it is possible, just not feasible.

Your math is a little off (on the 270 / 2 line) because you can't split the 15th venture between both of your retainers. You'd have to do 7 on one and 8 on the other, so that should have been the first rather than the last part of the equation. It still comes out to 144 hours needed and 168 available so it's technically possible, but that's only if you're available to be online at all hours of the day and night for the entire week. None of the other challenges require that sort of dedication. In fact, most can be done in a day or two if you focus on them. So I still think they need to change the requirement to 14 runs.

It would be nice to add some kind of award other than exp for those with maxed jobs(can keep the gil reward, though.)

Yeah, I sleep for 8 hours and work for about the same, plus dinner and all that lovely stuff life throws around. The window of time to do this is terribly small, and the timing just doesn't work out since the hour you need to be around to send out your retainers would constantly be changing into the time spaces I have to set aside for sleep or work.

Yeah I meant Chocobo raising not fighting alongside companion, but it can go in companion category. And as for receiving commendations, the award can be tiny, maybe just 1000 Gil or little to no exp. I play dragoon and on average I would get 20-25 commendations a week. Now that I play tank on another character I get literally double that a week. 3 commendations are easier to get than crafting 20hq items at low level, especially with doing 10 guildhests, 17 PVP matches, 5 dungeons, and if they added raids to challenge log that's even more chances to get commendations. And people would be giving them out like candy (they already do) if the challenge log boosted it to 10 instead of five.

I do think the retainer one is just way too unrealistic. Should maybe be the other way around. 10 field ventures and 15 total. It's just a slap in the face really because the game shouldn't really have a cash shop.

I agree, it's ridiculous. Those saying it should be 14 are still suggesting that challenge alone should require you to log on every single day, while every other challenge can be done in 2 days at most (beast tribe quests is the only one I can think of that can't be done in a single day even if you carry over your allowances).

Overall pretty good suggestions. I always thought it was odd that giving commendations was a challenge rather than receiving them, lol.

They definitely need to add a hunts category to the challenge log. Especially if they don't plan on raising the amount the daily marks give. It should be something like if you do all your marks for 5 days (25 for the week) then you get 50 bonus seals from the challenge log. That would make doing dailies a little more worth it. As it is daily hunts are pointless.

The guildhest and retainer ones are all out of whack. I'm sure there was an oversight at some point when they made those.

They are actually out of whack. The second guildhest one says complete ten UNIQUE guildhests but I have proven they can be the same and not different ones.

I'd like it if the exp reward for chocobo companions was better, but I guess they've set their minds on easier chocobo leveling being exclusive to people with FC houses for the time being. :(

I've done it every week and I don't pay for any extra retainers. You have to turn your ventures in as close to the time they complete as possible. I have to leave the game going all night so I can remember to get the really early ones, and then stay up late to get the late ones. I've thought about buying another retainer to make it easier and to help burn through these ventures since I'm getting them from beastman dailies about as fast as I can spend them since I'm always doing the 18 hour ventures.

But yeah they should definitely change it. I would say 10 field explorations.

I wanted to add maybe a trials version of roulette to challenge log as well, like completing five trials. This will increase incentive for people to queue for this. It's hard to get into leviathan hard mode even as a tank.

why would you ever get into leviathan HM? xD

it drops nothing, once you clear it ( easily) in the main story, it becames pretty much useless...

That's exactly why. People trying to do it for the first time will wait forever.

there will always be someone who needs to do it, because it's part of the main story..

It would be hard queueing, clearly,but not impossible. and there are other ways to do it, like PF, or asking friends or your FC...

I pull 3 commendations just on my monk several times a day. I would be okay with 7 commendations as a challenge cause that's just crazy.

Wednesday, 6:00 pm: Retainers x2 return from their venture. (4 done) Send them out on the next.
Thursday, 6:00 pm: Retainers x2 return from their venture. (6 done) Send them out on the next.
Friday, 6:00 pm: Retainers x2 return from their venture. (8 done) Send them out on the next.
Saturday, Noon: Retainers x2 return from their venture. (10 done) Send them out on the next.
Sunday, 6:00 am: Retainers x2 return rom their venture. (12 done) Send them out on the next.
Monday, Midnight: Retainers x2 return from their venture. (14 done) Send them out on the next.
Monday, 6:00 pm: Retainers x2 return from their venture. (16 done - challenge complete!) Send them out on the next.

Abuse the freer weekend hours to get extra Retainer ventures in, and you can accomplish this achievement. If you HAVE freer weekend hours, which many don't...

Choco stables are a gimic of sorts, once per hour for something like 1/500th of a level. Finishing both challenge log entries gets you 15% of a given level. :)

I would be okay with leaving retainers the way it is if a free company buff became available that reduces the time retainers spend on field expeditions by 2 hours or so. Would be much more manageable.
