Thank you.
Square-Enix already came up with a better "another idea."
I already hate Syrcus Tower and it's still the first week. I was planning on getting an oil but after running it as much as i have and only seeing, and losing the roll, 3 times i gave up and got a pair of caster boots that are mostly useless to me just so i could get something for the week. Every few runs you get lucky and it goes smooth. The other runs.... well... not so much. Just like CT it makes me hate most of the playerbase. You could get an oil every week much easier from hunts than from ST.
So after one week most people have their oils since it wouldn't be on a loot lock out. Then we are right back to hunts because most people are really there for the sands to begin. Nothing gets solved. It gets better for a week or two at best and oils become trivialized to a week of CT runs to get them all. I think it would be ok to drop them from each boss, but the rate should be lowered slightly. It should remain on lockout though so that you don't trivialize them so much. This is 110 gear we are talking about. You shouldn't be able to 110 your entire right side in a week of back to back CT runs.
Take note i included oils and sands...... multiple times actually...
I edited the bold to say "%" drop from bosses. Both oils and sands were already there prior to your post. :)Quote:
Editing it in after I make my post doesn't fix it. You bolded in large letters and only mentioned oils. Anyone can look at the last edited times on our posts to see. My post at 6:19, your edit at 6:20. GG.
You're edit doesn't change anything. Now it takes a week or two to have full i110. It's still a terrible idea whether you said oils or oils and sands.
And just because you like cheating doesnt mean its a bad idea. Personally i'd rather have the player base split between ST and hunts instead of the majority on hunts and causing frustration between the player base, and giving a way for cheaters to obtain items faster. Its one thing for people to use the app to cheat through divebombs in turn 5 and whatever else it does, which is a weekly lock out, its another for them to be able to get more seals per day simply because they cheat. Idc if they get gear from coil easier its still only a certain amount of gear per week, this new cheating is not right since they literally gear faster and get alexandrite and other items.
so youre saying you dont want a more balanced player base (some doing hunts some spamming ST, instead of the mass number doing just hunts) and a greater variety of options?
I think S.T was created that way for v preventing people being to far ahead in the game. There are people who run these all day. If they were to get gear they won't come back to S.T anf stay on hunts since its faster.
S.E did fine pin implementing this measure.
Our people are too far ahead the new people can catch up your that gap as quickly.

I was agreeing there needs to be a better chance at getting oils from ST. As it is you could run ST 100 in a week and not get one. I dont agree to remove the weekly lock out yet but they should be able to drop from every boss and not just a 30% chance from the last boss. All this is leading to is in progress queue spamming by tanks looking for a quick run to the last boss.
IMO they should make the oil/sand/UAT on a separate lock. So you can only get 1 piece of equipment AND 1 of those.
Just here to say this is a great idea. Would also help with people trying to spam in-progress queue
You know, the biggest issue with Hunts is not the people using an app to cheat, nor is it that mobs die so fast, nor is it all the myth and soldiery it drops, nor the Allied Seals used to get Oils/Sand, nor is it the books that drop from S marks.
The biggest issue with Hunts is that standing around doing nothing while you wait for one to pop is boring as hell. You're basically not playing the game. I'm certainly not happy with this "playstyle" having found it's way to FFXIV.
The worst part of ST is group B, the MT refuses to help out his party just because of the big monster in front of them and the other alliances do not help each other.
I wish there was another tank :(, I miss not being monster food.
Then dont do hunts if you dont know how to enjoy them. You should always welcome variety into an MMO. There are -Multiple- people playing it and the more variety the better. You got your ST with only 3 tanks and your faster queues and all that candy instant stuff you could ask for. Why on earth are you complaining??
There are people who like to get away from dungeons and enjoy the scenery of Eorzea and this is the perfect content to do such.
I F#%$ING love it. Just need to get the ..... people from stop doing it so i can enjoy it more. :)
So much salt for endgame players in this OP.
There is nothing wrong with doing endgame. In fact i do end game.
What i dont do, is i dont use FFXIV APP, nor do i complain about SE adding different content to the game simply because it doesnt suit my game style. Nor do i like cheating/cheaters. '
Just so happens that most people who do endgame and endgame only, not only use the FFXIV APP, but also cheat, more often than not are very rude, and think they are better than other people simply because they spend all of their in game time doing just 1 thing that "requires skill" as they put it, and complain out their arse..
I assure you, and anyone else in this game, if you put as much time into getting a Novus weapon, into coil, you could for sure clear turn 9 in a pug party.
Endgame is not hard at all. It just takes time and practice, just like anything else in this game. Period.
Cheater is kinda harsh, don't you think?
I realize your basis of saying that is the rule against the use of 3rd party tools, but you do realize that Yoshi-P himself said, regarding parsers, that people who use them should simply keep it to themselves. People get banned for misusing their tools, or using them publicly, last I checked.
Furthermore, I can't think of any 3rd party tool that does much more than simply make what the game already gives you more presentable - other than bots which are actively being banned because they're typically traceable. I assume you're referring to this radar people speak of. Unless it's simply showing targets in the load distance of your game, wouldn't they have to be traceable similar to bots.
I'd leave the whole judgement on who's cheating to SE.
I imagine he's talking specifically about the FFXIV APP and it's newly popular 'Radar' feature, which appears to show all enemy locations on your map. You can imagine what this does to Hunts.
It's not harsh at all to label that cheating. It's like playing hide and seek using satellite imagery.
Precisely.
Also, while i know people use it for turn 5, because i can hear it in voice chat whenever i use it for coil, most wouldnt consider it cheating. But literally it counts down until divebombs occur and also calls out twister. That completely takes away from the players need to pay attention for those mechanics and does that work for you.
Not sure what else you can call using a machine to do some of what the game expects you to do as a player.
If people called out marks and didn't pull early, there wouldn't be an issue. That's what Hunt Linkshells are for.
No oil/sands should be a weekly lock if you get it, some of us that have terrible luck with rng still have not and may never receive it so why are some of you so darn greedy.
Maybe i misread what you have said but to have no lock, the same people can always get oil/sands over and over again and tough luck for the rest of us
Do you not remember that this was a drop in coil. Myself i am liking St and there is nothing enjoyable at all about hunts, not the Elite ones anyway
See, the problem with your argument is that you could already enjoy the scenery before hunts came along (I know that I did).
I don't want content promoting crap gameplay just for the sakes of variety.
Yes, because running circles around a zone(s) is a dramatic improvement to what I described! I guess we just have different definitions of boring.
not sure if troll thread
This is a good idea. Well thought out and reasonable. Let's hope SE realizes it too
I hope you realize that unrestricted oil/sand from ST at this point in time would mean the drop rate for them would be lowered to Leviathan Mirror level.
Hunts are a different issue which should be addressed on its own.
So whats your point? You basically didnt even say anything at all whatsoever.
Also video games arent scientific quandaries in need of analytical resolutions.
The only reason you'd be so butt hurt is because you in fact also use FFXIV app to clear content. Its fine and dandy that you do. I have no qualms over that.
What i do have issues with is the fact there are too many people like you doing hunts, posted up in zones, using your radars and almost removing the opportunity for it to be fun and exciting.
I understand the issue mostly resides on over populated servers, but it still would be nice for there to be more variety for "endgamers" to get oils and sands from Syrcus instead of spamming and hoarding hunts. If you cant open your mind to depth and richness in gameplay then RPG's and most certainly MMORPG's probably arent your forte.
Explain to me why on earth youre just standing around waiting for a hunt to pop?
If youre doing this its because youre a "post" player in a hunt linkshell with radar and waiting till your LS's announce a located mob, and converge.
Which is sure.. efficient but certainly not fun.
I'm sure hunts were not implemented for players who play in such a manner. Its meant for those who normally scour the lands naturally in gameplay such as doing treasure maps, who gather, or simply abide in the open world by some other means, and of course hunting normally (i.e. chatting with the scholar NPC's to deduce locations or searching an area.)
Not for people who log in for short periods, use hacks and cheats, and utilize all available methods and resources to obtain top tier gear and then sign onto FFXIV forums and complain their arse's off that they are bored or that it takes too long to do something. My personal only complaint was it was too cumbersome to obtain mythology tomes and not in a matter of weeks after i felt bogged down from farming tomes in relation to how many more i needed (because i actually would like to obtain all 9 zodiac weapons) the patch came and now i'm swimming in mythology.
So seriously just because its not all wham bam thank you ma'am content doesnt mean its not enjoyed by -other- people and its very much welcomed.
The only issue with hunts that i can foresee aside from what I mentioned already about "endgamers" is the fact that 2 of the daily hunts are on FATEs which still arent quite balanced with their spawn time.
Thats it. Period.
As a matter of fact, i have no desire to buy oils or sands from the Hunt merchant. I'd like at least 2-3 alexandrites per week from hunts because i'd like all 9 zodiac weapons.
If removing Oils and Sands from the merchant balanced the player base by all means i'm 100% for removing the option. Again, i have zero desire to purchase an oil or sand from the merchant.
Currently, the Hunt (as great as it is doing it the way it was intended), is just too good of a means to obtain logs. Even if ST had a 100% chance for Xande to drop it, Hunts would still be spammed the way it is. It's just way too efficient of a means due to lax attitudes about players cheating the system (i.e. app radar) and the fact that everyone involved benefits equally. As much as it hurts to say it, they just shouldn't have the logs be part of the reward for hunts... at least not until the next tier of endgame comes about. Will hunts still be done by a ton of people? Of course it will, but it'll hopefully be less-so.
Fair enough I misread you. I approve of this amended post.
But Welsper is right. Until they make the books not drop or as you said remove sands/oils from the merchant all together. People will continue to do them. Doing 14 S ranks for a sand would still be quite easy (as so far servers tend to spawn them all back to back then wait a few days) but the A/Bs I doubt people would swarm near as much when they were getting 20 seals and needed 750.
So if I read this thread correctly... Everyone is holding out for sands... So I can basically win all the gear I want?
Stupid, stupid idea to have unrestricted lots on sands and oils. Here's why.
They're coveted items which are usable by ANYONE. This means that the world and her mother will be lotting on these things every single time they drop. Good luck getting anything when you're rolling against your entire team on every single run.
At least making them part of the lockout ensures that those who run CT for the sands can only get 1 per week, so they can't monopolize it by sheer RNG luck. Keep the system as is, or if you absolutely MUST lock it somehow, then put it on its own separate loot lock. But keep the 1 per week guys. It makes logical sense.
Pretty clearly a troll thread. He made a thread about how hunts are totally fine and mentions how great they are multiple times in this thread. And also named this thread after another thread talking about how bad hunts are. It's pretty clear he's just upset that people on the forums largely think hunts need to be changed because he likes them and only cares about himself, so he's lashing out at ST which is fine the way it is and actually fixes a lot of the problems CT had like people quitting because bone dragon didn't drop their gloves.
