Proof of people cheating using radar app

Now I know why people are just "miraculously" showing up at a notorious monster right away...

SE needs to fix this cheating NOW.

This won't change anything. As long as there is no mods that frequent these activities (play with community disguised as a regular player) there is nothing that will be done. The best we can hope for is a patch that changes how they work. Please look forward to it.

I agree OP its pretty said ppl need to cheat in this game to feel awesome or w/e their reasoning.
Hope it gets addressed.

Just make the elite marks as levequest styled hunts for parties. Simple.

Agreed ... The current implimentation feels very 2005ish.

It's garbage like this that has made me say since before 1.0 launched, that add ons need to not be allowed in this game period. Even ones that people will say are 'harmless' or just a 'quality of live improvement'. Allowing any add ons of any type just opens the window to the harmful ones to show up. I know they've always existed in games, but they've been allowed for the most part (except XI it's a bit touchy). They should ban an current and future add ons and drop the banhammer hard on anyone who is found to be using them. I know people will disagree with this, but i'm thinking about what's best for the long term health of the game.

I don't mind when people use Parsers to improve their static. But when they use tools like that, I hope that they will all be caught by SE's ban hammer. It happened to me too last week. Mining and alone for half an hour, only player in that part of the map. Then a hunt mob pops up and not even a minute later, a swarm came from the Horizon riding directly to the position of the mob.

Oh look, it is Sandworm and Dark Ixion all over again...

I haven't logged into 14 for a bit now, but above and all the other threads about this aren't really giving me any motivation to either...

This picture isn't proof of much. If I want to mark locations on a map where monsters tend to show, I can do that too. I've seen about 10 or 12 monsters and not once did anyone show up until the coordinates were shouted by myself or another individual. They do, however tend to show up in the same places. There's a bear that shows up across a particular bridge in North Shroud (Fallguard Float). I saw it in the teaser for patch 2.3 and sure enough, I happened onto it there. I've happened onto a couple of others the same way. This app could work like this. You sign up for the app, you enter your world information, etc. Then you report (in the app) where the monster shows. Now, only those sharing the app with you get the location and you don't shout it to everyone, only the app users. That's how the radar app in the iPhone works. Report a radar gun location, goes into the app.

It's not like it gives an zone-wide scan of monsters, it'll only show them within render distance and to be honest if it only showed up on the radar within that distance you'd no doubt spot it anyway.

I'd hardly say it was "cheating", if so then the Twintania app would be "cheating" as well since it helps people with the fight but I didn't see people moan about that.

Is that app iPhone onry?

I heard a whole hunting linkshell were kicked out if the game for using the app, banned for life too

I've seen a lot of people just hanging out in confirmed locations of these beasties. Last night, a huge pile of people were circling around a giant, black couerle and we had a very civilized countdown to FIRE. Just as they were about to release holy hell on this poor, unsuspecting creature, someone fired the first shot from a hidden location!

Anyway, I digest... The point is that if I was in a linkshell with a group of people and was running an app, I could leave my character sit and wait for a pop of the monster. That would be boring unless I was going to work out, have dinner, go to bed, etc. Now I'm a radar repeater for the rest of the shell. How about I give my access to someone who places me there and the results are the same. I'm still not convinced it works, but I am willing to play devil's advocate and give possibilities. We still pummeled him, and I'm pleased with the tomes I got, but it would seem that there needs to be something done about that. I happened on a creature in the North Shroud (I was doing the Atma in the region) by myself. I shouted and there were only about 8 of us partied when we pulled the trigger. It was fun, because it lasted a while. If you wonder why I happen onto all this stuff, it's because I suck at directions in this game. :D I'm always running down a path that leads nowhere, and that seems to be where some of these creatures pop up. The one in the North Shroud was on a stream that went to a rock wall. Derp and yeah at the same time, I suppose. LOL
