casual players we need daily limit removed.

personally i think most of the new content and such is wonderful.. but the fact that gets me is that party play has been enhanced so much now.. yet all the rewards and sp and what not has been nerfed for casual players whos main source of leveling or making money was leves.. since the parties can now spam the the raids... I think it would be nice if they removed the limit to the number of leves that could be done a day..

They are adding a system where you can obtain a "ticket", where you will be able to partake in leves you may have missed during the week. However, I dunno if they will ever increase the amount of leves you can obtain. SE said from the beginning the last thing they want players doing, is over abusing leves.

I am a casual player and I do not agree.

Because i don't have the time to finish all my leves generally :

In this game, i have to :
- doing my 8 leves (plus mybe some of others in party)
- raids
- visiting
- managing items
- selling and buying
- crafting
- questing and guild tasking
- moving
- doing my macro
- grinding low ranks
....

I don't know what casual mean to you but lol i can have enought time :(

Okay, I've been arguing with people all day about the casual vs hardcore play. You say you're casual, and I believe you, it says you have three things you're leveling none of them however are above 35 even. You'll level all three of those eventually most likely. How long have you been playing exactly? Less than a month, I hope so? I mean in a casual game that's okay to only make that much progress but guess what. These people screaming for it ALL to be geared to the hardcore play. If they get their wish granted, you will never experience the game at all, story content or otherwise. In a hardcore MMORPG they expect you to level SEVERAL jobs, not only to support the one that is your main, but to also because the story battles and some quests will be job specific, and if you don't have that job, you're not doing it until you level it. The crafting? They made gear penalties steeper with the durability, you don't even have to die for things to fall apart. Wanna save gil, or even be able to do things without waiting forever for repairs? Better level ALL the crafts up. So with this casual play you say you have time for, how long do you think it will take before you live up to hardcore player's standards? I mean what you have is fine, if you know someone either in the game real well or off the game who plays.. a real good friend, that won't mind carrying you because they have all the time in the world. Or you can do what half the population of XI did and just manipulate and learn to talk to people so they'll carry you. Yes, I know this game is not XI I've been told that several times now, but it was made FOR casual gamers in the beginning. They're trying to gear it so the benefits of play is far greater than solo/duo play. It's gonna turn this game into strictly hardcore unless they give equal benefits some way to the casual players. If they don't take restrictions of leves, or make them more beneficial SP wise, everyone who wants to build their schedule around those of others are gonna get into a party and grind and leave you in the dust. In the end when you finally reach max level on your main, the "End Game" is going to require you level several other jobs, and you have certain gear you can only get with party play. leveling jobs to support your main was fine as was you could do it quickly, I bet it won't be now though. Don't know what casual is to you LOL but it certainly isn't playing on other jobs/crafts and such for days/weeks or possibly months sometimes more so I can enjoy the game on the job I want.

Cause yanno, the hardcore players won't be happy till they can rub the casual players noses into a pile of crap with the awesome gear they spent more time than you have obtaining. I guess it makes them feel like they're worth while or something, I don't know why that's so important to them.

It'd be nice if they'd give the casual players all the opportunities of the hardcore ones without the heavily focused group play. But I guess an item just isn't as "Prestigious" if someone has another of the same type but different that is just as good. Not sure why they can't fawn over their hard worked for gear the same if equal could be obtained.. takes away their elite fun.

Find someone to carry you, or you'll not get anywhere as you are if the game focuses more on job specific group play as it's trying now. Fastest way to have a friend in any MMORPG is to have EVERYTHING leveled up to max. But those people chasing these guys aren't their friends.. they just like having someone so useful around.

oh yeah, and my bad on thinking you only had three things leveled. Apparently it either doesn't show all your jobs or just the three highest ones. Either way my point remains the same.

80% people that play MMORPG are casual, 15% regular player and 5% is hardcore

Yeah, they do need new people. You said 80% are casual, I find it hard to believe they told the truth in these statistics because with what I am seeing on the forums is maybe 80% 15% casual and 5% hardcore. I mean what are the terms of hardcore and casual? I talk about casual as in, you get on do what you want, accomplish something. Somedays you stay on 5 or more hours, others maybe 1 or 2... casual meaning you play when you feel like it is what I meant. If you're playing for 6-7 hours or more straight a day, that isn't casual that may be regular, and if you're just playing from the time you wake to the time you sleep you probably have mental problems of some sort. I knew a guy who thought that getting fame for something in wow when it first came out was "easy" cause he did it in a week, granted I lived with him and he didn't post how he worked for 16 hours straight everyday or more that week to do it, that isn't casual. A casual player may have maybe taken a month to do the same thing. Now that I clarified what casual and hardcore means, did you mean they need new people from the 80% casual ones you say exist, or to up the 5%? Cause if it weren't for the hardcore players FFXI wouldn't have survived as it did. It had a smaller, MUCH smaller following than WoW, I played both but did not like wow's community in terms that people were never nice so went to FFXI to be with friends. The people in FFXI claimed to work or do things, yet seemed to be on all day everyday, not bazaaring just on playing or doing something, even if it was sitting in town with their pretty gear and laughing at anyone who asked for help for 7 hours or so. FFXI's whole design was for people like that to feel better than they should have about their accomplishments. I've read studies on gaming and how it was beneficial. They said all of it was, even MMORPGs, according to having the skills needed in the world. But if they took one of these hard core players that had all the skills and problem solving capability, and put them in a work place. They couldn't do it, they'd flip due to inexperience with real social interaction, or they were litterally having PHYSICAL withdrawls from not being on the game. In a sense games like FFXI give some kind of euphoria or that wouldn't happen. But these "Casual gamers" as they claim to be, they tend to not want to admit they spend more time on a game online than they do, so it makes me wonder how accurate those statements are as well. I find it hard to believe 80% of the people on these forums are casual.

I do agree on some point about what you said about the hardcore in final fantasy online so maybe i should have said : "final fantasy onlines causal player" lol
and i do agree that the game still need some adjustment (especially on SP).

But what i wanted to say it is that if you are a "final fantasy onlines causal player" (FFOCP for short), you have clearly enough interesting things to do before the leves are reseted.
During the short amount of time i played as a FFOCP, I know that with all the things to do (and that i listed) i am not limited be the leves timer reset.

For the part a little off topics about hardcore play on final fantasy, i think you asking the impossible : if you want your super unique armor, you have to hardcore play : this actually seems normal for me no ?

Super unique armor? Yeah, maybe you should play hardcore... but I think it should only vary in LOOKs, not functionality. Sure let it look super awesome to make it desirable so the hardcore people can have something to make themselves feel better with since no one outside the game is gonna care. But stat wise it should be just as functional as any casual piece of equipment. You say you like story? Good luck with some story combat events because SE likes to make it so if you don't have a tweaked out character or a certain class you're not doing it.

As far as the eye rolling, and me missing the point. What happens when you have a day where you can blow it relaxing on the game? You're limited to the leve timer and can't take advantage of that, but I guess with your desire to craft and gather that's okay. I'm not always in the mood to craft, that much is for certain. And it doesn't take but an hour for me to get leves done, leaving two hours (If I played three even) that day for grinding on mobs, cause as I said... not a fan of the crafting grind, then again they have limitations on those leves too to rank up on too so.In the end if you're efficient enough at it all the things you stated, save for the instanced raids (which is party play) you may barely consume up to two hours of game play.

You have an LS to help? Great, wait till they demand you have certain gear or classes to do tougher stuff... yeah you'll get there eventually with the casual play, by the time you do all the others have everything from something and they don't do it no more. People in groups like that rarely ever go out of their way for just one member, and if yours does-appreciate and keep that LS it's one in a million. I was fortunate my LS on XI took good care of me, but I declined many things because I knew sometimes others worked harder for it, but I am a rarity too, most people in general will take and take and TAKE everything they can with greed and not care who they step on because it's "Nothing personal, just a game!" However the way they talk to and treat others who don't have this, it turns a game into a rat race JOB. That is what I hope to not see. So yeah, make em look as shiny and pretty as they want. but stat wise don't give them an advantage to deny you for something as small and dumb as the occasional raid instance/SP party because they only want the best of the best.

I agree with OP. Another option would be to expand to more than just 8 per day or to have 8 per job. (E.g. 8 for Lancer, 8 for Archer, etc)

I agree. When I first started I as shocked people said there wasn't stuff to do. That is flat out false. Between doing all the leves, selling stuff in wards, and any quests or missions, you would need a solid 8 hours of gameplay. I guess you could argue it is not 'fun' but there are things to do. Personally, I work 10 hours a day and at max get 3 hours to play. I barely can knock out 5-7 leves and sell stuff in that time. I am a little sad to see the leve SP nerf bc it was easy for me on work days to come home and do my leves and feel like I am actually progressing. Unfortunately, it seems it is an either or system in which everyone will do one or other so they had to nerf leves to get people to party up. I hope in the future they consider restoring the amount of SP leves reward but lowering the number (say 4) and making them a little more diverse/fun/challenging in nature.

I want ti see a reduction of limits leves to 6 but a reduction reset to 24 hours.

PLEASE SE make it simple. Not easy. But yes simple.

Casually speaking, I don't even finish the eight regional leves and eight local leves in the 36 hour window. I wouldn't be able to take advantage of a raised limit anyway, haha. Having non-consecutive hours for gaming availability during the week limits my ability to anchor down with an SP party or assemble a party for the dungeon and still do the dungeon.

I figure, if someone has more consecutive hours where they can knock out all the leves in a sitting, then they can say, "Forget leves today, it's dungeon time!" And then have fun getting lost and slain by scantily clad lalafell bandits deep in a dungeon somewhere.

Why should they have to nerf SP so it's more tempting to party? To force people who don't want to to get one? They shouldn't have nerfed SP. Yes, give the party players the party play they desire with areas where a party is needed. But don't take away a solo/duo or even trio players ability to make good progress either. Partying should be an option not an obligation.

This casual player stuff just blows my mind! This nonsense has plagued WoW for years. I can make a list of solo player RPG games that you can play and not have this issue of time constraints that you all love to cry about. If you are SO damn busy why are you trying to get involved in an MMO?

I played ffxi for 5 years and I don't remember this casual content demand that is invading this game -.- If you don't like the way the game is played then leave. (to me, casual content should be a 4-5 hour dynamis type event) I hated this game with a searing passion when it was released and I left as well, I'm back after 1.18 and to me its pretty close to what I had wished it had been on release.

News Flash : MMOs are NOT casual games, and they should not be forced into being casual. Take a good look at WoW in 2005-6 and a look at WoW in 2010-2011, you can also look at what this game was when they tried to make it "casual" it was a grotesque fetus that should of been aborted 8 months before delivery. I rest my case.

No offense but this MMO is not catered to you. Gaming in general is more causal with the shear growth of gaming platforms and the aging of early gaming generations. Hardcore games are a relic of the past. However, that doesn't mean hardcore content shouldn't exist. But this MMO, and most MMOs in existence, are more casual then ever.

No offense but this game is catered to me :) The constant whining and crying from casual babies since 1.18 has proven so.

Next on the list, double or triple SP per rank and keep solo xp low.

LOL! Leves were ruining the games leveling system and the economy as it was. If you're so casual you shouldn't want to do 100 leves a day.

wall of text is hurting my eyes... dev's did say (somewhere) that in 1.18 the SP might get bad but they going to start fixing those and 1.19 and further updates should help out the casual players. And the ticket system I think was for 1.19 also should help out on this part.

Is this the thought process behind this idea:

A) remove the cap

B) the SP magically stays the same as before, making it possible to earn as much as 10x or more SP than before in a matter of 36 hours.

Instead of

A) remove the cap

B) the dev team adjusts the rate of SP gain to reflect the removal of maximum leves, making you earn roughly the same amount of gil and SP over the course of 36 hours.

Now let's analyze what this means: you are essentially doing more work for less gain. In general, a player isn't going to get anymore SP than what the developers intend.

The irony of this suggestion is in the thread title. This sort of change essentially benefits the hardcore (who can work beyond the 'intended' # of leves in 36 hours) while the casual is left working more to attain the same benefits.

Now, you might say 'they can keep the rate of SP similar to what it is now" (essentially raising the average # of SP players can attain in a matter of 36 hours). In that case, here's another suggestion to think about.

A) limit isn't removed, stays at eight

B) the amount of SP per leve is raised.

You need to work just as much as before, yet get the same benefits as with the previous suggestion.

I could go on about how hilarious these kind of suggestions are (my favorite is the rested bonus vs fatigue) but this is enough for now.

How does it effect you if someone is able to partake in more than the current alloted leve issuance? It's fine that you don't normally finish your 8 leves in a 36 hour period, but I on the other hand, finish all 8 in a matter of a few hours.

The reset timer is a huge hinderance to solo/casual players who want to advance at a steady rate w/o the "camp and grind" game play. With the adjustments made in 1.18 the link bonus is nearly non-existent, and the fact that you only get said bonus by completing the leve. Its hard to "abuse" the system now.

The timers also dictate which class I rank up, I have to choose every 36 hours how far I can advance each job at a reasonable rate, on my own time. For instance:
I logged in yesterday picked up 5 leves for my lnc and 3 for my con. I did all 8 over the course of a few hours. I log in today with only a hour to play before i have to get on with RL duties, I basically have nothing to do. I can grind on mobs for a hour and get a few k sp on my con. But what I'd really like to do i pick some leves , head out to the camp and do that for the next hour. That how leves should function. They should be available on whenever you want. Not on a long reset timer.

If anything have the leves on a 1 or 2 hr reset, or even better have them issued on demand and have the rewards reset every 36 hours for repeat leves.
