The solution is easy, really. Keep NMs as is, but make the weekly elite mark S-ranks exclusively. If needed, boost the difficulty of the weekly mark even higher, say, SS for that week only. Make it so it literally takes a mob to take it down, at least until the interest dies down. At that point you can patch as needed.

I am happy I am not level 50 yet. That past couple days since 2.3 there has been nothing but RAGE from all level 50's about Naul. I have been soloing my story in Coerthas and the ONLY thing I see is angry people in the chat.

Sorry for hijacking your thread. From what I have seen online I agree with it 100%. Naul is insta-kill right now, and it is causing spite. You HAVE to be at the right spot at the right second to get any credit, they need to increase his stats so it takes a good solid mob 10 minutes to kill him. Of course he would have to have a bajillion HP or defense, but they could always fix it later when the excitement dies down, like you said. -

I so much prefer ffxi's nm system over ffxiv arr. In ffxi nm's only spawned on a certain part of the map. With Naul he can spawn anyware on the entire map. I would take leaping lizzy from ffxi with a 5 minute - 5 hour spawn rate over Naul anyday. Plus ffxi had widescan for beastmasters and rangers. There is nothing of the sort in ffxiv. Everyone can either see something on the map or no one at all in ffxiv.
All nm's in ffxi were at a set location on the map. Although some were abit large area, it was still a certain part of the map. Like on the west side or around a rock or on a beach, for example. FFXIV is just dumb, all over the entire map, that's just dumb. -

I spotted Naul yesterday and shouted to tell everyone. People gathered and everyone waited about 5 minutes later he was zerged down.
I got 3 seals for my efforts and no weekly bonus. (Solo not in a group)
The mobs need five times their HP.
Next time I'm not shouting and I'll just solo kill him.
A couple quick fixes, namely HP boost and it will be a good system. -

The problem really is how people are treating each other. I know i personally found Naul yesterday, in trying to hold for more people to come get the mark we were only able to hold for less than a minute.
What happened after that can only be described as the most violent slaughter of a NM i had ever seen, i mean really the damn thing was dead in less than two seconds. Of course as i was typing out the enemy position i was unable to target the enemy in time and lost my chance. I only got my mark when some seven hours later i chanced on the area and was able to get a piercing talon in and get completion.
As stated above Elite marks need to have higher than average HP pools if for nothing more so more people are able to participate. -

This is why I'm staying away from elite marks. Open world content is way too frutrating to keep up with to be fun.
I hope they'll make them spawnable by map/object and beatable by a full party/alliance, but exclusive like leve mobs are. Cap it weekly (or just the extra rewards), but anyone can get a map. -

I advise NOT go to after the weekly target. It's not like you get a lot more seals/tomes for them anyway. You're better off hunting other B, A, and S rank targets.

Even with LS, by the time you or someone calls for help, giving them the chance to read it, stop what they were doing if they can, teleport, summon mount, get to the <pos> lol
Even within 2 yalms away, if you see it, you need to jump on it else it's gone.
Nothing fun in there, specially after counting we might need about on average hmm.. 10000 allied seals for glamour, minions, alexandrites, books of blood something to convert as sand and oil of time, etc..
I liked the idea, and I understand a bounty hunt is free-for-all; for sure they will take our pleads and adjust, hopefully sooner than next patch. -

Camped out fate + did some kills and a leve for our Animus book all while doing sweeps of the closest known spawn points for Naul. After about 90 minutes of being there we found it. This was all at about 10pm. I feel like people are going out there at prime time seeing it spawn once, raging, leaving, and making angry posts.Quote:

The difference is how it is now everyone gets funneled into 1 zone. Change it to "any S rank" and people would spread themselves among all the zones in the game. "Oh there are already 20 people running around Highlands? Lets go to Western Thanalan guys". Being a S rank would just further ensure the diluted people left int he zones would be able to actually blink before it dies.

I haven't started on doing Hunts yet but from what I heard from my friends, the LS for Hunts are getting very toxic and lotsa hate going on because the monsters are dead too fast.
I would suggest that SE buff the HP of the monsters to scale with the amount of participants like they did with FATEs. -

I'd be ok with them being S rank only if they had the opportunity to spawn multiple times per day. As it is right now, we don't know the exact spawn conditions (rather how often they can spawn) whereas the B rank ones seem to be up at least every hour or so. People have different playing schedules and SE need to account for that, unlike what happens for Behemoth and Odin.

Reason I ask is if it was "kill any S rank" for the weekly then even if they spawned once every 10 hours with there being 13-14 zones there would be one up SOMEWHERE every hour at least. I just avoid setting the goal of doing it so early into the patch. Save myself the trouble and focus on other aspects of the newly introduced content, some of which does involve hunting non-mark elites from time to time. I guarantee that within the next month or so, it'll become a lot easier to hunt down the targeted mark. Part of the reason being that I don't think a lot of people realize that every zone has a B/A/S rank elite in them, and the reward for just killing them greatly outweighs the reward for the mark.

In the long run, A-rank for weekly would be best.
On those you can at least get in a few hits/spells before they're dead, actually giving you a chance to get enough contribution.
In the long run when less people are doing the hunts, A-rank is easier to get people for. Of course, by then it might be more worthwhile to actually go down to B-rank for the weekly.
The daily marks need a buff in how many allied seals you get though... 7 a day, and that's supposed to be for casuals... meaning 5 weeks to get enough seals to buy one book towards sand/oil... rewards here should be increased so that it's possible to buy one book per week. -

Honestly that boss seems like a legit elite NM as it has a good chunk of hp and can technically dish out 5-6k damage with brutal swing even to an unsynced player ( i100 level 50 non tank class ).
Or take it to the next step and make it as strong as odin and behemoth as they literally do require more than a party of 1.

Would need to know the next spawn occurrence of those same ones to get an idea of how often they appear. If you go by the flavor text from the Hunter Heralds, some of them have some potentially creative spawn conditions as well. One mentions it attacks fishermen, another is attracted to the smell of cooking, (Culinarian) but who knows how long it takes for them to reappear once they've shown up.Quote:
