I keep avoiding Aoe(s) from Boss(es) but still get hit.

I have got fiber and my ping is 15ms.

This has happened to me multiple times in different occasions in different times and days where I was out of sight aka not inside the shape of the enemy's Aoe but I still get damage and/or dots on me.

Basically I am talking about the last second escape and somehow this issue pinpoints to me as there is this "lag-input" from the game and from my side I need to be 1 second faster so that lag input does not effect me. What that means is that I will not be able to avoid anything the last second due to that.

Anyone else has noticed this?

Try using a GPN (Gamers Private Network) :)

It's a common issue that has been around since beta, they have fixed it to a better state, but in order to avoid the dmg of a monster AoE attack you have to be out of the AoE zone before the casting bar reaches 50%, I remember reading something like that around here but in order to be sure don't wait to the last second before moving away from the boss AoE zone and you shouldn't have any problems.

I have DSL at 40mbs and I have had zero problems with dodging AE's since launch (Tank/DPS/Healer).
The exception is when the server itself has hiccups every once in a great while.

In this game you cannot dodge reactively, you have to predict when to dodge and start moving before it starts casting. The outcome of a terrible design choice :P

Fortunately most notorious battles are scripted so once you learn or get a hint of the rotation you can act before stuff happens.

I hate to be this way, Screen shot your ping to the sever you are logged into. I have a hard time believing your having lag at 15ms when I don't have a problem
at my avg ping of 150ms. so I'm gonna call BS or you have a very slow graphics card or processor and stuff is showing up on your screen late. At work I have that
problem because my work rig isn't made for gaming and I have a 10ms ping at work but the computer can't handle the game very well. So stuff doesn't show up on time.
my home computer that isn't top of the line as far as graphic but has more then enough to power this game doesn't have problems doing so over a 125ms cellular connection.

Heck yesterday i swear someone in Syrcus Tower moved at same time as me, i got hit and they did not

Unless your both sitting in the datacenter. It appears to you that you both moved at the sametime. I can assure you that anybody
that seems to be in sync with you is actually moving before you are. As a tank I get to be stationery for long parts of fights. I can tell
who's going to make it out based on their movements before the aoe's pop on the screen.

This is a blatant lie, though. To this day, I have not encountered a single boss that required me to dodge pre-emptively.

The only time I had to predict the AoEs was when I was playing on a Japanese server from US. Now that I am on a US server I can usually wait a second or two after the AoE shows up and still make it out. Running 10MBPS DSL. Average ping to server is around 200ms.

MBPS means nothing to gaming. Thats just a measure of how much data you can transfer at a given time frame. How BIG your pipe is per say.
Ping time is what your looking for and nothing else. As long as your < 500ms this game should be hard to you.

I have not experienced this even once, I very often wait long before getting out of AOEs. I almost never get out prior to 50%.

the biggest thing I have found is if I'm getting a little on the slow side, Stop attacking when you dodge. if you try to squeeze an
attack in while your moving out, the server is recording your position inside the aoe. So if I notice I got hit moving out, I stop swinging
on dodges afterward. If I get out, then I know i'm lagging a little and pay attention a little more.

I have a hard time believing a 15ms ping is unplayable. Especially when I play with no problem at 150ms. There is a myriad of things that could be wrong,
including how he came up with his 15ms ping to begin with. There are a bunch of players on these forms that has a large amount of networking knowledge
that could help, Myself included. It's not white knighting to tell people they are flat ass wrong on there assumptions on how the internet works and who's
the cause of their connection problems. Let the other thread on the front page saying it's SE's problem that their FIOS connection is hitting a bad node on level 3.

Myself and others could help, but saying numbers with no proof with get you no where with us.

That was for the op who stated several times they got hit when they waited till "the last second". Also check your ISP, some of them see the FFXIV client as a "torrent" style program then limit the bandwidth (iirc). This has been an ongoing issue for some time. I have never had the problem myself but I know it exists although it has become less of an issue than it was in the past, it is still not eradicated. Also try playing off "peak server times" and see if you still have the same issue. Sorry for the "less than helpful" response before. it was a little tongue in cheek.

OP, yes. we've all noticed it. You're brand new, it didn't just show up when you started. ;)

There is a DEV post around here somewhere from about a year ago now about the issues of AOEs and moving out of the way. They explained the slight delay all MMOs have and that it's been addressed.

You'll also find that in instanced fights and areas, this "lag" is actually a lot less and you can dodge things much easier.

Not so much refusing to dodge. There are times people legitimately have lag. I have lag from time to time.
sometime even fios has lag. Even when I do have lag. I don't come here to rage about it because I understand what causes my lag.
and understand this difference on what is SE's problem and what is my problem.

Yes you can - You can even evade and run back into AoE's and not get hit, this depends purely on your connection though.

Server to Client reaction and vice versa will always be a problem. Its like having a wireless keyboard that delays because miscommunication with its adapter in the computer. Just live with it. SE has done a great job since Release to improve this on their end. Now its a problem that you take up with you ISP.

If you can time a jump, you can avoid aoe. Bonus points if you can hit dash in mid air & an insta cast before you land. Try it! @.@

I was just getting extremely paranoid about it because this is the first time I experience something like this in an MMO, this sort of "forceful lag" so I thought I was imagining things. You know how in your screen you'll always be the first to move out and everyone else is behind? That is what it shows on everyone's screen, everyone is shown as being ahead of others but in reality you are all moving out at the same time. If you see that you're moving at the same time as everyone else you're actually behind them according to the server and most probably you'll get hit.

Titan EX plumes cannot be outrun based on visual ques if you have at least a tiny bit of lag.

Sometimes the animation does not match exactly with the cast bar. Rather than attempt to predict how long you have based on the animation watch the cast bar instead.
