Agreed, all this weather / time of day crap is not enjoyable at all.
For fishing I think it makes things a bit more fun by changing things up every so often, as different fish appear with the different weather patterns and times of day. For the whole sightseeing thing...if certain types of weather happened more often it might be a bit more enjoyable.

What needs to be implimented is just a weather prediction system.
You ask for the weather report for each area for lets say, the next 5 days. And you will recibe a chart of possible weathers for said area, so you can do a bit of planning before traveling to maps expecting the weather to be just fine. The system could implement alarms and it could have a nice filter system so you know for example, which areas have chances to have fog, and so on.
Of course, the simple thing to do would be to ask SE to just remove the weather condition of the sightseeing and fishing just leaving the time condition which is previsible for players.
Is hard to belive how wrong an exploration feature can go...
Weather NPC's are due to be introduced in 2.3 I think? They're late. I honestly cannot fathom how they released the Sightseeing Log without the weather NPC's in place.Quote:

Let me make it simple. Soon there'll be weather forecaster NPC's that will tell you the upcoming weather for a zone. It was mentioned in the Q&A at the Tokyo FATE event.

This makes me a lot happier than it should.
I actually enjoy some of the simpler tasks the most in this game, but sight seeing was so frustrating.
So often I would get to the zone with the right weather, but be there too late. And then when the time changes to the next day, the weather changes, so you have the right time, but the wrong weather.
This won't make it a whole lot easier, but it'll make it possible. Huzzah!
I'd be glad enough to open the map and see the current weather. If I'm supposed to talk to some NPC, all that does is make me go somewhere else I don't need to be instead.

I'm at 78/80 ss logs * just started 5 days ago or so.
All i can say is that it's very costly if you want to maximize your efficiency in sightseeing.
I would cycle thru every zone with the current time frame taken into account everytime it's 12:05am,8:05am and 4:05 pm
If it's not the correct weather then i go on to next area. It costs me 3-5k gil for each rotation as an alternative to just guessing.
I went thru 100k gil already just from SS log teleports.
So i really do encourage that se get on with the weather npc already.
If you ain't got the dough and atma grinding patience then SS isn't for you.
