Commendation Rewards

Was just wondering if there are any plans for some new rewards for commendations?

Considering the grand majority of people that have them all already boosted and cheated their way up -- I sure hope not.

not really sure how you cheat with commendations since you can't control your group but most the senior members in our FC are about to get theirs or has it already and no one has "cheated, as well as everyone else on cactuar I know with one didn't cheat we are all just on our novious weapons. I would like to see some new rewards.

I'm not 100% sold that half the gold magitek mounts I saw a couple weeks in of that patch were legit

I think it's more or less psychological. People will do low level runs on either a tank or healer class and chat a little bit at the start, something like that. So they're more recognizable when it comes time to give out commendations.

It still takes a while but you could have 4 people all queue up for the 1st guildhest and only select a less used language. Odds are they'd be group together and ensure they always get commendations.

Commendation system was implemented with that same patch and the achievements?

I got mine legit. I tank and play a lot. That's all there is to it. Playing PvP is a pretty fast way to get commendations too by the way. Plus, now that parties can give out commendations to other players, if you're 1 person queuing into a group of 3 or 7 preformed (more likely to happen if you're a tank) then you're the only one they CAN commend, so it's like SCORE! But I had 600 or so commendations before the last patch so I never got that benefit. It should be even easier now and challenge log rewards people giving out commendations so...

You won't get that many if you do lots of preformed groups but if you queue for a lot of random things by yourself like I do (especially in a needed role) it's really pretty fast anyway. New rewards are a bit overdue in my opinion (that is if SE intends commendations to mean anything on an ongoing basis - they may not, it may have been just a one time deal).

ahh didn't think of guildheist. I am not saying their are not any being obtained by bad methods. however to put a blanket and say the majority has, is just poor form and insulting to many wonderful and helpful players I know. I constantly get 2-3 commendations on blm and I don't leave last, while other people i know almost never get commendations on blm/dps. To me I have been avoiding tanking on dungeons because I feel like it's more rewarding to get the commendations on dps/blm and I want my mount first.

I don't want any more rewards unless they reset everyone to zero and disable commendations in trials, coil, and guildhests. Guildhests especially.

I have 874 commendations and I got them in a legit way. I don't do PvP, but every roulette everyday. I would really love to have more rewards with that system.

Kind of understand Guildhests (although still disagree) but not having commendations in Trials and Coil is just stupid.

Spamming Guildhests for a while as a tank/healer and you could get all the items in a weekend if you work at it.

But you have to actually, you know, be good at your job in some of them. Of course getting commendations for those first few Guildhests which could be solo'd is silly. But even at the stage where most people are over geared, if I'm carrying people through Titan and someone deems that commendation worthy I'd be inclined to agree. As for Coil, the turns vary too wildly for an opinion. Can you get them for Turn 3? Lol. If so, of course that should be a no no. Turn 5 though? I'd say that would be commendation worthy if you were one of the brighter stars of the attempt and actually managed to get a kill.

Sorry, I don't know if I'm missing something here. I don't know how this is an issue. The commendations rewards don't even break the game's balance. They don't offer any advantage or anything...

I would rather they not add more commendation rewards. I dislike popularity contests in games, and even moreso when there are unique rewards attached to them.

I can't imagine too many people actually bothered to do this, but queue for German only in a single Guildhest and you will be pretty much guaranteed to get each other as party members.

I don't play that often but I just got to 500. If you play as a tank or healer you'll get a lot.

Commendations are a joke. A Commendation will always be given to a Free Company member or a significant other in RL. Commendations are supposed to be given out to the most outstanding member of your group, basically given out as a medal to players that performed superbly in a party. That’s what there for, that’s why they are called commendations.

Instead commendations are given out to friends and FC members, like it’s something to be expected from their in group. What is it with this group mentality? Can this community stop throwing around commendations like candy? And you know, actually give to people that earned it?

You do know that if you do it with your FC or friend, you usually team up before the fight, and anyone who teamed up with each other actually can't vote for each other? So...your argument is not valid. :)

I seriously doubt most commendations are given to friends and FC mates, given that unless you're actually grinding them and queuing for it on purpose, you won't be playing with anyone you know.

Also, if I might point out, the actual text in the commendation window put in there by Square Enix says: "Commend the player who left a positive impression upon you."

Whatever you think that is, is up to you, but I don't always commend the "best" player. I actually usually commend nice, funny and chatty people. ^.^

Spamming Titan HM as healer to help people get their relics, while solo sch healing because secondary healers usually get pushed out, together with few of the DPSers, and voila. There you get like 5 commends a run usually. Did that for my achievements.

Also, this thread isn't about how to get commendations. I think everyone has already figured out how to get them fast, if you want to.

OP was asking for more rewards. I'm like, sure, but I don't care, and it kind of doesn't seem like there should be any in the first place. That's not in the spirit of commendations really.

Well commendations were put in to get people to be nicer to each other in dungeons, and they accomplished that really well; at least initially there was noticeably more positive interaction between people. You just have to hang the carrot, even if it's a really small one, and players will march towards it.

I have nearly 700. Never cheated. Role a healer and don't be awful.

seriously, if you are not near or do no have the 500 commendations yet don't be angry at everyone else. the Amount of dungeons you have done vrs the amount they have done. You might want to realize; you aren't so great at your job. I hear so many people complain about not getting commendations on dps but the only dps I don't get commendations on are the ones I know that I'm not so good at.

I got 50 today just by healing HM primals. Don't be bad and you won't have anything to complain about.

Theres no need to do this, you could get 500 Recomm in a week if u would love to farm the second guildhest a whole day, as a tank or healer.

So far I didn't do much solo content, took a break from it, as I was disappointed about the behavior of randoms, preferring to play with mates from FC and LS.

That said I am sitting on 310 right now, I would have maxed it otherwise, all legit, no PvP.

I wanted to have that barding, only to see that it's only the head gear.. now I'm happy my Chocobo is close to Rank 10, will have decent gear, and ready to be trained (seems nice!)

and that gold mecha eww...

So I'm in no rush, unless if I remember they mentionned doing some stuff which will require the mecha. We still have the one from our main story, and unless we can dye that.. shrugs

Hello Mr.Dps who never gets commendations, play healer or tank Nd you can roll around in them all day after a week or two of some hard work

I think there could be more commendation rewards. i don't even have 200 myself. but even if its just a title or minion for getting like 1000 or something i think it would be cool.

The game could use more titles for certain achievements.

Not even, you can get plenty of commendations as DPS if you're good.

I have like 190~ however, I never really do dungeons with randoms. I didn't do roulettes prior to the patch changes. I would just group with my friends whenever I needed spare soldiery after clearing coil 2. The commendation system isn't bad.

I don't care how good you are as a dps, you may get more than an unexceptional one, but a great dps will never get as many as a mediocre tank or healer. Even when I'm tanking and screw up badly causing a wipe I'll still get commendations just because I'm tanking and for no other reason.

I got all 3 comms as my Bard once. I nearly fell out of my chair.

I usually get no coms on healer or tank unless its titan xD

You may have been running with 3 people who were in a grp and could only give it to you. I know I've done that running with friends before.

This hasn't been the case in my own experience. My average number of commends is 2 on BLM (my main), and 1 on PLD (although that could say a lot about my tanking). In fact, I'm much more likely to get all 3 commends on BLM than any other job/role, and it's not really uncommon either. When I get 2, I usually assume the tank didn't commend me in the case that I kept pulling agro off them, and that's why I'm really not looking forward to a BLM buff. They might as well change our icon from red to blue when that happens.

Exactly. I said it when it was first introduced and I'll say it again; whether people are actually being nice or if they're just pretending to get a commendation, as long as they are making the run pleasant I'll count that as a success for the commendation system.
