Would you Frontline?

Since pvp queues aren't the greatest in the game, and pvp in general wasn't big in the last FF. Knowing what the current rewards are. Would you participate in the pvp actively if the myth part of the reward for each 30 min 24v24v24 was comparable to 30 minutes of bray speed running?

Absolutely.

Maybe. I'm not big on pvp, but I'd like to try. :D See how it feels and if I like it I keep going.

I'm not big on PVP but I have hyped Frontlines and I do have to say that I am pretty excited about it. It's going to be fun I think.

And it's a step toward "conquest" systems in FFXI. Except at a faster pace and a more direct approach than a passive.

4v4 pvp is boring but wild pvp like forntlines is a different world, with tomes as rewards i'll do more forntlines than dungeons.

I know it wouldn't really work but I'd love a PvP mode similar to GW2 RvRvR . You can just jump in for a few minutes or a few hours and just have fun. I think any kind of timed events will have issues (like people leaving early if your team is losing etc.).

I think I'd try it. Im not big on arena style pvp that we already have, and I know plenty of people who wanted to pvp but know that pretty much everyone just win-trades atm so it's not worth it. I think Frontlines will be much more popular than wolves den, at least for a while.

It'll be a large scale chaotic place of nothing but death and rage QQ. Of course I'm gonna participate.

I don't think it'll be comparable to 30min of Bray SR though. I mean you're apparently going to get more than just Myth tomes, as there's also pvp exp/marks and Soldiery tomes rewarded.

It really depends on several things. First and foremost being of course it's implementation. But also if it becomes a way to earn tomestones I'd be more inclined to spend some time doing it, if for no other reason than to break up the monotony of dungeon runs. I'm sure people would argue against pve progression in pvp but really getting 72 people together for one of these things is going to be challenging without upping the rewards a bit.

I'd also be more inclined to participate if the rewards and consequences were more apparent outside of the content and outside of a personal gain or loss. If winning helps my nation in some tangible way I'd be more inclined to participate. Too many rewards in this game happen in a personal vacuum. I'd like a reason to be proud of the grand company I'm part of.

That is what I meant when saying comparable to anywhere from 200-300 myth per game along with the other rewards. If then it would be enough to entice PvE players to actively participate. Since 24v24v24=72 Players.

I highly doubt very many matches are going to even last 10 minutes. Larger scale PvP usually goes pretty
quickly. Especially at the rate Yoshi was getting points in the video. The only way a full 30 mins is gonna
go is if people AFK and/or just decide for some reason to not even bother trying to take bases and just beating
eachother senseless.

With that said, I think the rewards will be worth it, and yes I will be PvPing for sure.

I'd prefer it didn't entice that crowd, to be honest. Those are the people that will play the game and find any means to quickly end it, win or lose (assuming loss has some degree of reward to it). If there's an efficient means to a decent end, they'll go straight for it without any regard to content. They are the ones that will rage and point fingers at people illogically. I guarantee it'd entice a player I encountered earlier doing Ifrit HM that, after wiping because DPS didn't take out the nails (no LB used for that matter), blamed the healers under pretense that they couldn't cure fast enough to survive the 1-shot LOL. After being told that the nail this player was attacking didn't go down in time, immediately shifted blame to a low geared MNK... /sigh

So yeah, I'd prefer mouth breathers didn't participate much in competitive aspects of this game. Enticing them with something that is equal to a speed run (which tends to also attract a certain short fused mentally challenged crowd), is not something I'd like to really bring in. PvP because you want to win or to have fun actively participating in (along with any other reasons). Don't do it primarily because you think it's a quick means to rewards (e.g. win-trading players). I promise you they'd AFK their way to tomes/marks/exp if it's an option.

To me it doesn't seem like thats how it works. According to the info given today it seemed like 30 minutes is the match. That you just rake up points throughout the whole 30 minutes from killing mobs,players,capturing and keeping points. Then I'd assume after the 30 minutes. GC with highest point total wins

If there's LB3 and pvp skills then all i have to say is save attunement for meteor lol...?
But imo i rather have a frontlines with little to no objectives cuz honestly ppl are too stupid to co-ordinate plans in a non pre made and non voice chat group.
Ppl will just keep tunnel visioning whoever looks squishy to them. I swear, cuz the influx of new players will make it so derp but hopefully still fun.

Negative. If you look in the video, each GC on the right side of the screen has 0/1000 listed underneath their respective flags.
It's first to 1,000. They only set that 30-minutes so people can't just go in and AFK forever and use up server space. :)

As Yoshi stood by those flags/bases, it started to increase. 10/1000 > 20/1000 > etc.

If I'm mistaken, that's pretty ridiculous to force people to have 30-minute matches or get nothing. I'm 99% sure it's first to 1000.

In the live letter there was a limit in the points every team could get, xxxx/1000, but we don't know if 1k is some kind of min or the quantity that marks the end of the match.

Objectives are also there to sort of give a sort of leverage to players that may not be part of a team that is coordinated or may be lower in gear. It's an immediate win for better geared players if it were simply a deathmatch that ignores organization, regardless of how skilled/coordinated the undergeared players may be. At least with objectives, those under geared players would have a shot if the opposing teams ignored the goals of the map. Of course, if the better geared teams did pay attention to the objectives, then the undergeared players would likely still lose, but that'd essentially be the same outcome from the deathmatch. The difference is, again, that they at least have a shot at victory.

Just watched the video part you were saying. Points started raking in @58:43 and at 59:43 the counter still running was @31/1000 so 31 points per minute that a flag stays in control of a group. No idea how many capture points there are nor the points of getting killing a person/mob. But I don't the points will be enough to end a game in 10 minutes. Unless the points gotten from those 2 are much bigger. Since 1 Capture Point alone for 30 minutes would only give 930/1000

Ah. Well, from what I've experienced in other MMOs 10 minutes~ is about the average, that's why I used that number. :)

But yes, it will depend on how many points monster/players give.

Hell yes, my AOE heals and Holy spam will be glorious.

I'm a healer and I read that most healers are dead in XIV PVP in 2 to 5 seconds once engaged. So, nope, not interested in dying that fast, even Titan EX lets me live longer than that.

Indeed I would! I am very much eager to jump into Frontlines even though I have little experience with the Wolves Den.

Part of the appeal of chaotic large-scale PvP has over purely organized play is that otherwise focus targeted players normally have a higher survival chance. There's so much going on that people generally either don't pay attention (unless it's an organized group... which it usually won't be) or they just won't have the backup to do what needs to be done.

Nope. Not interested in the slightest. The jobs simply aren't designed for PvP, and that's that.

They've added a handful of PvP exclusive skills, but none of them even the playing field in any sense and some even seem entirely pointless. There is literally nothing which could entice me to start doing PvP save for forcing it onto us through some arbitrary Zodiac weapon requirement. Of course, if they ever did that I might just have to strangle an SE exec...

It's actually even slower then what I mentioned above. The video actually goes from 58:43 to 1:00:45. From 58:43 to 59:43 (1 Minute) they got 31 points from the flag. from 59:43 to 1:00:43 (Another minute) they were at 51 points. So it seems even the Flag point rate decreases over time.

It's important to remember that killing players will also add to your points. I'm fairly certain that will be a rather significant part of a teams win in an average match.

Of course I would Frontlines.

I was excited for this battleground even before announcing the reward of tomes. Regardless I'll still be there.

Ya I mentioned earlier when going against the 10 minute match idea. That it really depends on how many flags there are and how many points killing players and mobs rewards

I'm hoping it's good. I hate arena style PvP. I prefer larger teams.

Has se ever considered that a team can just keep zerging down the other parties till it becomes like league of legends ACE?
Then just proceed to manderville along till they win.
I mean the possibilities of being able to troll in frontlines is surprising given with the current info.
Hopefully the Mobs will actually be as strong as coil mobs ( dark matter golems ? ) :D
Cuz if they were just regular pve mobs then they'd be just like minions :/

The PVP experience is the reward itself. Sadly, PVP in this game is pretty poor/bad in general, due to the internal delay and animation delays.

Yeah, I guess until we know more it's impossible to tell. The 8v8v8 will go slower I'm sure, because the points for defeating opponents
will be much slower than a 24v24v24. Unless they have it set up to where bases are worth a different amount based on participants.

But even if defeating an opponent only yielded 1 point, you've got 72 people constantly respawning and defeating each other. I'm sure
the points will rack up decently quick unless all 3 teams are extremely healer heavy and just won't die lol.

Considering I'm getting sick of pretty much everything else in this game because of the insanely monotonous repetition - sure, why not?

Please SE, give me a reason to justify paying my subscription every month.

Frontlines looks like my type of PvP, honestly. Arena-style PvP is something I have never been a big fan of. My ideal PvP scenario is putting a lot of people into a huge battlefield and going at it...which looks to be the case with Frontlines. Adding objectives was a nice touch, though. So yeah, I'll definitely be participating.

I'll go there once to look around the place and see what it looks like. If it's the easiest and quickest way to get marks and buy the swan gear, then yeah. But I don't even understand how PvP works and I'm not interested in battling others, so... I'll do it very sporadically, if at all.
