Roulette class bonus 'broken' during off peak hours

the roulette class bonus seem to be based on the 'average wait time', however the 'average wait time' doesn't reflect how many players of each class category are currently on queue at all during off peak hours. e.g. many groups might actually be waiting for DPS while the roulette indicates that Tanks are in need, hence 'broken'

I do agree that there seems to be some weirdness with the class bonus. I'll queue up on a healer bonus and wait 7 minutes in the queue. Same on tank - 5 minutes or so. Guess those classes weren't "really" needed.

Then again, the entire queue system could use some serious tweaks to lower times and fix problems with finishing dungeons after members leave so...

If you are waiting for a DPS in a duty roullette...... the 1st DPS was probably first in queue for a specific dungeon..... thats all it is.

Lets say I was a Bard.... queued for Sunken Temple.

You queue in roullette and get put in my group
The Healer gets popped in that group...

and now your waiting for a random DPS to join it...... Thing is, you 3 are locked into a specific dungeon waiting for a queue.... i dont think it has anything to do with the average queue times, its the fact that if you are waiting for a DPS in a roullette, its more the fact that they waited their turn.... the next DPS that queues Sunken Temple is probably getting an insta queue..... it happens.

My point is what is 'in need' would suggest that if I queue the 'in need' role, I'm likely to get the shortest queue, but that's clearly not the case. the REAL role 'in need' has to be figured out via trial and error i.e. if I see this roulette says role in need is 'Tank', and I queue as a tank, but after 1 min or so I receive no queue update at all, suggesting this roulette I am queuing doesn't really need tank. Now I'll withdraw, change to healer, and requeue for the same roulette. still no update after 1 min in queue, so I withdraw again and change to DPS for yet another requeue. and guess what? I get a pop within 30 seconds. even if it doesn't pop, I will get a near-full queue update showing the party only need 1 or 2 more player to form.

it works like this every single time, you never know what's the REAL role 'in need' until you do the trial and error method described above. that's why I said the system is 'broken' because I don't think it works as intended

of course, I believe this probably only happens often during off peak hours, and they probably won't 'fix' it, but I'll still just bring it up if nobody else bothered

So you would rather jump OUT of queue.... to test another role and see if you get an insta-queue? Sounds like you cant find something to do to wait 3 mins for a dungeon pop...

Dont see a problem with the system as it is..... I think your just impatient

Actually, I am 30 years old, and hold a job where I work 60 hours a week. Not bragging, but I am not a teenager.... nor do I have a teenage mentality.

The "broken" aspect that you mentioned is so insignificant that it shouldnt even be addressed. The fact that SE even gives "Adventurer in Need" bonuses is a luxury. If you chose to queue as the role in need, then go ahead and get the bonus. If not, its not for you.

The Adventurer in need changes from time to time. Maybe hourly? maybe every 3 hours? Not quite sure. But since the award is only awarded once per day, there really isnt much of a reason to exploit the queue, you wont receive the extra award.

Your argument is that the roullette "role bonus" doesnt change in real time to reflect which role is needed at that specific moment. Gee, golly! Do you need your bonuses spoon fed to you? Instant queue, and a bonus for it too? Brother I would honestly say..... R-E-L-A-X!!

The roullette is probably calculating which role is needed over the path of ALL THE SERVERS, at a specific interval, and responding by putting a bonus into place to curb the back up from the calculation of the period before..... just like FATE difficulty scales to the last instance of the FATE with population.... its not an exact science, but it serves its purpose. More than likely, whichever roullette it is, its going to need a healer or a tank, since the DPS population is way too saturated. Sorry for the obvious slap in the face.

And my earlier comment still holds true. Why would you willingly jump out of queue, to change roles, and re-queue to TEST the wait time. You'll find more success just staying in queue, and finding something else to do while waiting.... thing levequests, crafting, beastmen... anything.... So really, the only explanation and rebuttal to your original post is......

1.) DONT BE LAZY
2.) STOP ASKING SE TO HAND YOU BONUSES ON A LOLLIPOP
3.) FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO WHILE QUEUING
4.) ROLL AS A TANK (or as a healer nowadays) AND YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE WILL IMPROVE
5.) FIND A NEW GAME

your "broken" status is that bonus awards are not updated in real time...... I think that belongs at the very bottom of a long list of priorities. Yes, your right, its a minor flaw in the game....But there are way more important issues for the game masters to still consider.... like RMT farmers, atma (everything about it), Austrailian PINGs, PS3 lag issues, new content, and overhauling the market board.

Lanceton, is that a more appropriate response? Or would you like me to elaborate further. Your point is moot. Stick to your queue, find something to do, and be happy. Want faster queues, be a tank.... if not, suffer in the abysmal life of a DPS

You may not be a teenager, but you still find the need to validate yourself? Kind of contradicts your premise. Anyway, dps que time always blucks, I'm waiting for Crystal Tower and the Average Wait Time is more than 30 minutes. Now who really wants to wait that long? Beside the "AWT" is being kind, a dps could possibly wait anywhere from 1hr to never getting in at all. It is true, tanks and healers have a better wait time, but why should someone have to be either just to do dungeons? What you get is tanks and healer that suck completely.

The average wait time on the Duty finder is in reference to the average wait time of all characters... there has been mention of breaking it down into the 3 different roles already by one of the game managers on one of the other threads....

I think they mentioned that as a future fix they were planning on doing.... I think it was stated that the average wait time would be reflective of your role. They were working on writing the coding for it. And the hold up was based on the roles themselves (Yoshi has been hinting at installing a "Support" role, and breaking up the trinity...... and depending on which classes get added/shifted over to this role. Assuming the Bard will become a support role at some point plus an additional class).


The topic of average wait time being broken HAS been addressed by the dev team.

The topic the original poster brought up is that the "Adventurer in Need" bonus is not reflected in real time to each roullette. And since that is "broken" he feels that it needs to be fixed because queuing in as the adventurer in need role does not result in a quicker queue each time. Hence he mentioned playing the test and requeue to figure out which role is actually needed at the time. (That was the point i was rebutting). Two completely different issues

THe wait times ARE broken down by role now. Queue for the same dungeon on various roles (including ranged DPS vs melee) and you'll see your average wait time change. As for the "Adventurer In Need' bonus...it is indeed only calculated every 30 mins-1hr or some such. It isn't calculated on the fly. This is to avoid situations (especially if DPS is "In Need") where the role bonus changes on you before you can do the dungeon. Even at peak times you can get situations where the "In Need" Bonus causes a rather rapid increase of the role but the role in need won't change until the next update period comes around. Lodestone works the same way.

Many times when it said tanks in need, i queued as tank no content, but i queued as healer i got instant queue.
Same thing happens vice versa, I think the "in need" need to be updated more frequently.
Otherwise some people may be misleaded.

To be honest, in the past week my queue times as melee have been faster than my healer (Both 50 for EX/HL roulettes)

As far as I know, the roulette bonus doesn't update instantly based on missing classes. If I were to hazard a guess, it's only updated once every 10 minutes.

What I do during off-peak hours is register as the needed class, but re-check every other minute for update. Once it updates, change to the new needed class, register and enter, usually instant.

what happens during the off-peak hours will be something like this:
roulette says "tank" is in need
but actually there are only 2 tanks, 0 healer, 2 dps queuing for the content
now if I am to queue for the content, and I see it says "tank" is in need, so I queue as a tank, so do another 3 players who wish to do the roulette
now we end up with 3 teams consist of
2 tanks 0 healer 2 dps
2 tanks 0 healer 0 dps
2 tanks 0 healer 0 dps
if the 'in need' indicator updates instantly, we would have gotten one team ready to pop right away, but instead we got 3 teams waiting forever
theoretically this would lengthen the average wait time for all players peak or off-peak alike, just the impact is far more noticeable during peak hours.

The only time it needs to be fixed is when it says DPS is in need... cuz yeah lol. I've queued when it had that before as BLM and hit a 30m queue when I am sure Tank would have been instant.

Also SkyHighDN your post says the reward is once per day? Thats just for the seals. The Tank/Healer/DPS in need 4500 gil you can repeat all day long if you want. (I repeat Trial Roulette for the 2700 a lot right now because its quick, entertaining, and I'm probably bored)

Not broken, DPS are by far lowest priority to be listed as "in need". The only times it really says DPS are when there's practically nobody in queue. A group needing 1 DPS 1 tank 1 healer will put the role bonus to tank; that's just common sense based off the # of people playing these jobs. Plenty of DPS so even when they're "in need" they're not as "in need" of the roles people don't take to roulettes as much.

And why are you sure of that? I've tried it, doesn't work, again DPS only pops up at the rarest of times generally late at night. Also right after a maintenance. It only lists the role most in need, doesn't mean a party is 7/8 waiting on you.

I love when they have "in need Healers" you got healer and you're in queue for over 20 minutes... That was afternoon JST on Tonberry.

The queue has been broken for a while, it doesn't display everyone in your party for ages. You're a single healer in queue for over 20 minutes and then you instantly get a group >.>.

I was doing that for a while too. They stopped that. The gil reward is only received once now
