Am I The Only One Having Trouble With Atma Drops?

It took me 14 hours of FATE grinds to get only 3 atmas. This is pretty ridiculous they need to increase the drop rates. Now lets say I actually did all these hours of grinding and found all 12 atmas, I get an atma weapon with the same exact stats as my Zenith and I also lose my Zenith sparkles!

Yep, no stat difference, not one. Here's what I feel is a mistake; that's a lot of work to get nothing. I would be happy with a super small difference knowing I'm about to go on quest to upgrade stats - how about 1 weapon damage. Make it something better SE - we've put in work, give us a small reward.

Ok, gotta get books. 1500 myth per book.

1500 per book, 9 books total = 135000 Myth.
13500/50 (total myth per dungeon) = 270 runs
7 minutes per 50 myth run(fastest way we know of currently) x 270 runs = 1890 minutes or nearly 32 HOURS. So to fully upgrade your atma you are looking at roughly 46 hours and that's before counting all the crap you need to do to finish each book.

It's something that takes a while. The book grind in particular. Expect to working on it for a month or two. Novus is the same way.

After seeing so many threads saying the same thing few months ago, that has basically become my response. Yoshi said that as patches progress earlier parts will get easier but thats quite a bit of time. You could have one in the months you take to wait for that(if you so choose to wait). Tome weap, High allagan weap are other routes.

RNG is RNG. 1st atma weap took me about week and a few days, 2nd weap took me less than 2 days. As for myth, get ya popcorn ready you about to endure some bray bray :P. Or you could just do roulette and get a book every few days. Myth has been increased from it and will be increased again in 2.3.

And then....and then....jump for joy cause ya gotta do the novus part and get even more myth lol. I'm doing it for fun on my blm. No rushing, just doing it when I feel like it. Being able to roll on High Allagan staff when it drops though and already having 110 weap on mnk may be playing a part in why im taking it slow xD

I am 3 on 3 so far, (1 per hour) still thinking whether or not I am going to finish it >_<

It's pure RNG and some will get good luck, some will get bad luck. My atmas weren't too bad, apart from Western Thanalan, but the Alexandrite, eugh. Done 350-400 fates and not seen one.

I'm not measuring my arms progress in time, but in total Fates. I got five atmas I'm 1150 Fates. 0.35% drop rate can go fuck itself!

The drop rate is 2.5%. Your luck is just really bad.

Ya I know it is, hence why I hate the quest itself. I'm seeing many less skilled, or more casual players than myself get their atma weapon everyday. This really grinds my gears!

well getting the atma weapon means nothing till you've upgraded it to animus.

I see atma wielders all the time but hardly see animus.

I was stuck farming my last Atma on North Shroud for a week after farming 11 at about a day's pace. May the RNG gods be with you.

Been at it for almost 3 months and still don't have 12.

Yoshi should have to farm atma in order to get his paycheck.

Yoshi said, zodiac weapons are absolute. It's guranteed to be 2nd powerful weapon in the game. Just because of that reason, it's set to be hard to get. However, according to yoshida himself.. they might make it easier to get near future, but not in 3.0. This is just an advice, but don't farm atma's 2 - 3 hours straight, no matter how hard you want to get it. It won't happen so easily. Try changing areas every 40 min or so. Sometimes, give it a rest. There is something about the time.. not just pure drop rates. I might sound crazy, but I got all 12 within 6 hours. But, took me 9 days. While I can't get single atma on my dragoon playing 3 hours straight.

Screw Atma, Screw Novius, I am getting my Upgraded Weathered Weapon instead and High Allagant Weapon :)

1 weapon damage is not a small increase.

That's where Yoshi failed, it's not hard, just time consuming. There's a difference between a quest being hard and it being a boring, mindless, time consuming grind. Getting ATMA requires zero skill. I know they said the quest was supposed to take time, but seeing how people still did it in a few days, they failed. The only thing they succeeded at was frustrating the rest of the player base that gets screwed by the RNG.

Of course, I wouldn't mind it so much if they gave me something entertaining to grind. When I was a fresh 50, I had no problem farming Ifrit HM to get a weapon. Farming level 10 FATEs just sucks. I'm sick of having most of my hotbar being useless.

I've gotten 9 so far and having no luck at all with the last 3. Been grinding in Western La Noscea, Lower La Noscea and Central Thanalan for the past few days and gotten nothing. Did 7 hours just grinding yesterday. All together, adding up the time spent in all three regions, I've been grinding about 12 hours with nothing. My longest time grinding in 1 single place was around 8 hours.

Animus won't be too bad for me as me and a few others enjoy running CT a few times a day if we can, so I can get 150 myth from there and maybe get lucky and get the BRD and BLM gear too.

Thats not too bad tbh.

Just keep at it, and start using it to spirit bond for the novus part.

Is that official drop rate...? It's in line with my experience when I ground for my Curtana/HS Atma, but curious.

Square would never officially say what the drop rate is. The 2.5% comes from a large amount of players pooling their information together. Using the 3000 fate achievement to track how many fates it took.

Took me about 2 weeks of playing to get my atma of the crab. That's too long, especially when it's pay to play

One could look at this two ways: (1) If there were was no atma, there would be no reason for higher level folks to run around beating up on poor, defenseless lady bugs, and people who could use help to beat these fates would not be able to complete. It gives incentive for people to play together. Then of course, the other reason: (2) If it takes you 3 months to get your atma, then there's $45 (USD) you just paid them to keep playing the game. :D I've been lucky with 2 atma drops, and I only did it to play with friends. I was actually more worried about working on my WHM, but since I have my BRD Zenith, what the heck.

I agree that it should be a little more challenging rather than time consuming, that's for sure.

It's a painful process. I got 3 atmas in 2 days and nothing since. At least you know that EVERYONE won't have a Novus weapon unless they decide to nerf the difficulty of the atma drop rate.

Well had taken me over a month for my Bard atma weapon (all 12 atmas) and started grinding right after for my blm, but has been 2 months for my blm and only have 6 atmas.
For the amount of time spent on these silly things i could of had 2 classes up to lvl 50 by now, lol

Lol all I know is I farm for about 2 to 3 hours every other day since its been around and I have yet to see an atma the RNG gods hate my guts lol.

I spent 50 hours farming to get 12 atma. The other healer in my static spent 10 hours. Anther person on my server got all 12 in 5 hours. The rng of atma is just awful. However, I really love my Animus and I'm glad I got it. (Especially considering how 70+ Twintania kills never dropped my cane.)
