Ninja - Armors to get?

In the interview with Massively Yoshida-san answered this question :

"Massively: Any chance we can find out about what equipment Rogues/Ninjas will wear so we can prepare ahead of time?

Naoki Yoshida, producer: First off, because the class is going to be a melee DPS-type class, that gear that you have for other melee DPS classes and jobs is probably something that you'll want to hold on to. On the other hand, weapons are all going to be new because it's going to be a special type -- the dual wield. While you can use existing gear, the weapons will be all new and players can have fun collecting them. As for the special and Primal weapons, there will be rogue and ninja versions."

So obviously for accessories we will have to get STR ones, but for the armor, do you think they will use the Gloam set (the monk one)?

I assume MNK/NIN will share the same gear, based on the Fuma set alone.

Agreed. Fuma is a dead giveaway in my eyes.

Like mentioned before Monk just makes the most sense.

Are we sure it is going to STR based?
Isn't Rogue traditionally DEX based?

Ninja's have been an AGI class, but the way the stats are set in this game, it will have to be a STR class, because DEX is for range combat.

Agreed. AGI doesn't exist, and DEX is specifically accuracy and ranged weapon damage. My guess is guns will be DEX based, but daggers will be STR based. I also agree that the Fuma gear is an obvious sign for MNK/NIN gear sharing - neither of those jobs are known for wearing heavy armor like a DRG. They'll wear nimbler clothing.

Wait until your NIN calculates dagger attacks by STR, throwing attacks by DEX, and ninjutsu attacks by INT

Depending on how they make it scale that would be quite OP with crafted gear and main stat materia in it.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I thought I read somewhere that RGE(?)/NIN would be DEX based, and ranged attack aside (and armor skin, now that I think about it) DEX would make the most sense. Currently, bards have a monopoly on a whole sect of gear. If rogue is going to be released alone, it only makes sense to create some inter-class competition for this unique 'advantage' that our ranged physical enjoys.

Also, I believe it was stated ninja will not have a throw ability, so... No 9999 shuriken tosses for all the prospective shinobi out there. =P

Thats what some people thought when the first set of new abilities were datamined.
Yoshida however pretty much confirmed that this is wrong and Ninja will be STR based and if we wanna gear it we should look at our current melee drops.
There will be a second class which is a gunner that will be DEX based.
Also dragoons and monks have a monopoly on their gear too, yes they do share accessories but their whole left gear is just for them alone and they both need another class to share it with.
Yes we also want to have another class to gear at the same time as our main. :p
Ninja will mostlikely share their gear with Monk.

Assuming no delays (unlikely), roughly mid Oct to early Nov is most likely.

I would think ahead to future gear since by the time the class is released we'll probably be at ilvl 130-135. Does that also give a hint that the next set of gear will also share jobs and not be exclusive AF gear? Hmm....

Yep, Patch 2.4 will be the patch they raise iLvl but it always a good start if you can pimp your ninja in iLvl 100-110 gear when you ding 50! :)

(While obviously glamouring this wonderful ninja AF!)

I'm sure they will be DEX-based, and they'll just change the tool-tip for DEX...

Also, don't forget that the DRG and BRD (DEX and STR) share the same base armor for CT...just because MNK have Fuma gear doesn't mean NIN won't have a reskinned DEX-based version


Also, there are 2 jobs for every stat...except DEX...making a third STR-based job will just screw over everyone who needs those accessories.

So the ranged class that is planned to come with the Nin is STR right?
Or do we get 2 dex classes? Oh those poor bards that have to fight over their new gear with 2 new dex classes.
It is already pretty much confirmed by Yoshida that Nin will STR by the statement if we want to prepare for Nin we should look into the melee gear.
And by that I highly doubt he meant the lvling stuff which has STR and DEX.

I hope they do set up ninja like that, this way your talent points actually matter some. Instead of put them all in STR you might have to do 18 in STR, 6 in Dex, and 26 in INT.. or something like that.

Of course, after about a month or so, ninja theory crafting will come forth and people will learn that maybe putting all points in XXX gives you +5 more dps then any other split.
