pld novus sword 31 parry 22 acc

hi,

how do your guys plan to meld ur sword? as i believe we are aiming acc cap w/ food of 520 .
i am going for 31 parry and 22 acc what your guys think? since our bis seem heavy parry build. for det/criti i think its kind of useless if you have a good grp for scob.
and plans for future such as 2.4? new tier ilv

Acc for T9, is 515-516 not 520. 31 parry 22Acc look good if you going for Parry BiS. I prolly going for Max Acc and then either Crit or DET.

the party where you said, "for det/criti i think its kind of useless if you have a good grp for scob." it also apply to Parry. with good Group (aka awesome healer) 2ndary stat won't have that much effect.

I have Crit/Det set right now and tanking T9 without any issue. ( we learning the Drive Bomb now, the one in final phase.)

Parry help if you really under gear the content. once you gear enough for the content (for T9 it around avg. ilv 105) it less notice able.

anyway back to the topic ;P, I prefer max melding Acc first so I have more room to pick my armor with out worry about acc cap.

Just out of curiosity what is your Parry rate at Remn? Can you get the full benefits from Poppotto Pancakes (600 base parry)? Do you even eat pancakes? lol I'm assuming since ur in DPS BiS that you would eat Black Truffle Rissotto?

I'm parry is around 500-520 ish I think (I will check once I got back home), I'm eating Button in Blanket, since I'm broke lol. my HP with food and party is around 7947. I'm also lalafel ;P

the way i see it, the high allagan blade has crit on it, so why make another dps weapon that is inferior in ilvl and WD? My novus will be parry and accuracy, it will be my reliable, safe weapon I guess. You need a ton of det/crit to really make a substantial dps increase, and it just never seems worth it to me in exchange for mitigation, which is our job to do, mitigate damage. Parry takes a lot as well, but again, I just figure my relic will be my backup, safe, go to weapon. the extra det from the burtgang wouldn't be better than the WD the t9 blade gives, so this way, you have your novus with parry and accuracy, until you get the t9 weapon. you'll lose your 31 parry with t9, but this way you'll have both a mitigation weapon, and a dps weapon at some point.

just check my parry is 496.
@Kimura410, yes allagan is batter now but Novas is upgradeable in the future. so it will be higher than current High allagan in the future.

what I don't like about parry is that it doesn't do jack about magic damage. and between my 500 parry and BiS parry which is around 650?? I GUESS,?? it about 12-13% chance different, I think (last time I check it 13-14 parry to 1 % chance.

I also don't feel like farming Novas soon, still burn out form animus. lol

tbh, the current state of the game , if you have around iLV 105 avg. you can tank T9 in any combination of 2nd stat (given that you have cap acc).

to me parry is only good for when you really under gear the content.
I might change to parry set when they push out Brutal Coil but for now I will enjoin my 590-600ish RoH CRIT ;)

What are your current stats to obtain high numbers on RoH? Also what are you choosing to meld on your Shield/Curtana?

I'm not planning on doing Novas atm will prolly start soon.

I got about 550-590 CRIT when I pop FoF with no STR pot prolly goes over 600 with Str Pot in Sword Oath, in shield oath I got around 500 CRIT w/ FoF no Pot

I have ilv 110 Burtgang. avg ilv104. I'm not optimizing my build yet as I have to keep my acc at 516. still waiting on HA pant, Belt, ring, and Body T_T. so my stat is everywhere atm. (for now I mainly avoid SS, keep my acc, and have a good mis of Parry/DET/CRIT)

the main thing I will meld is ACC on both sword and shield, so I have more choice on my armor.

I'm doing something similar, but with 22 det instead of 22 accuracy. I'll put the acc secondary on my shield instead (parry primary of course); honestly 9 on shield should be enough combined with the other gear I'm eyeing. Figure it's always nice to throw some extra damage on there, especially since I run a FoF+Bloodbath macro.

From what i can see, the only way to achieve 600 base parry atm would be to cap it on the weapon/shield and get the required H.A Drops (Gloves, Boots, Earing, Bracelet). This would put us at 630+ Parry. Perhaps a hidden threshold if you will.

Since Poppotto pancakes are essentially the only 3star food which we can achieve the max benefits from currently, i personally think this is sign that SE wants us to prioritize Parry as Tanks.

I'm going to go as close to 50/50 on Parry/Accuracy as I can. This would mean 26 Acc/27 Parry on the Sword and 11/11 on the Shield. This is because I'm a fan of balancing things like this and it minimizes infusions of grade IV Materia... or at the very least Grade IV Infusions that don't have a 100% chance of succeeding.

S-E also wants every class in the world to prioritize SS if you go by the numbers they're putting on the gear.

Doesn't mean SS is any better, and it doesn't mean parry is any better if Pancakes only max parry when you stack it to the exclusion of everything else.

I'm not sure what your point is regarding the Parry/Pancakes. But its either your for Parry or against it. You sound like your on the against it side of the fence which is fine. All i'm saying is if you are a tank that value's parry the most you can get is approx 603+ with our current gear choices. I just found it ironic that the minimim stat requirement to achieve full benefits from the only useful 3star food in the game was 600 Parry. Personally i dont think that its random that SE did this. Mitigation is Mitigation. As a tank you can never have too much of it.

Since your on the topic of SS take a look at Roast Canard. At the moment this is the best DPS food in the 3star tier which is also the 2nd most usefull food out of them since you can almost achieve full benefits by getting 600 Skill Speed. BRD and DRG seem to be the only classes that can come close however.

Why do you think there is no direct upgrade to Buttons in a blanket and Black Truffle Rissotto? Instead they add a new food with SkS, VIT, DET. Also i've read that Skill Speed has almost the same stat wieghts as Crit does at the expense of TP management. Infact SS can actually provide a bigger boost in DPS.

Why sould SE prioritize speed in this way? This also leads me to belive that there is some kind of Hidden bennefit to Skill Speed that none of us are acknowledging. However i dont plan on melding any SS to my relic as i'm personally prioritizing Parry/Acc.

Chipping away at Novus slowly. Doing Determination + Accuracy on sword and Determination + Crit on shield. It's what I want for my ideal gear setup. I'm not a big fan of over-stacking parry on PLD. If I was doing Bravura for WAR, I'd definitely do parry though.

My point on the parry and pancakes is to not judge any stat by incidental numbers such as that. Pancakes also max their accuracy at 600. Does that mean we should aim for 600 acc even though the current max required for any content in the game isn't even at 520? We should only judge a stat by it's actual numbers and the returns we can get. So far for parry results have been inconclusive. I'm not even saying don't stack parry. I'm saying pancakes should not be your justification for doing so, because food is in no way a secret coded message from S-E about what stats are the best. It's an item, and itemized for a whole variety of reasons beyond being optimal. Look at sachertorte. Look at classes that value Speed so lowly getting tons of it on Soldiery gear.

My reasons are solely for Mitigation and prefering Tower Sheilds as some of the other choices devalue parry. Again i just found it ironic, in a way its just another reason for me personally to stack parry, incidental or not.

Also mixed with my annoyance that SE realeases 3Star Food which are nearly impossible to reach full benefits. While i dont understand their reasons, all i can do is appreciate the fact that as Tanks we're the only class that can benefit from them.

it mostly come down to personal preference. Go Parry or CRIT/DET will not break you as a tank. either way you can tank T9 just find with proper CD usage. (altho, Brutal coil is different story. but they not in yet, maybe parry will be prefer stat when it got implement. ;D

The thing about Parry is that it won't be responsible for a huge decrease in "total" damage throughout a fight. Stacking it just increases the likelihood that you'll survive a "Whoops" moment or a deadly spike attack like Death Sentence(Or whatever the T9 equivalent is :P). I'm glad I have high parry whenever I parry an attack such that I'll die in two more hits instead of just one. More time for the healers to come to the rescue!

It's not exactly necessary, per se, but it's helpful. Besides, it's the only stat Tanks have for raw mitigation, so we've gotta take what we can get!
