I was also going to ask about this. I don't think it was mentioned or officially acknowledged.
Lag screwed my static out of a T7 clear yesterday. My static all has conflicting schedules, and we can basically only get together twice a week as a true static (i.e. NO PUGS). Yesterday was one of those days. We have been working on this fight slowly for a number of weeks now and we all thought last night was the night.
Our first 3 attempts, we cleared up until archers flawlessly. First Renaud after the archers were all dead (and the floor panels start alternating poison pools), 3 people DC and 2 of us start rubber-banding terribly. At the exact same spot on all 3 of those runs. Then the lag just started picking on random people throughout the rest of our raid. It was totally unplayable. Frozen (IRL) people were freezing people in game. ;-;
I'm at work right now, but I will be terribly disappointed if the 4hr maintenance last night didn't fix this. It's very disheartening when you are pounding your face against content only to be denied success via means you can't control.
I think that they addressed the 90K issue. As far as the lag is concerned its back to the drawing board. I am experiencing lag that appears like real low FPS. This is on Hyperion. I do not know if other servers are having the same problem.
From what i played so far (about 30 minz) the lag is still bad. They really need to fix this, i need to kill Titan EX and cant do it with all this lag.
If there is lag for some people, it's likely on their (SE's) network side the problem is. Be it directly on SE's network, SE's ISP's network or the upstream providers.
I can only say that I have not seen any sign of such lag myself, which indicates that it depends on which path the traffic takes to the datacenter.
Actually... Reading elsewhere it seems there are problems with Level 3 that affects other games as well... Which started some days ago for them too...
i play on PS4 and have been experiencing lag for the first time since playing the game. It started a week or so ago and last between 5 and 40 seconds each time with about a 30 seconds in between lag spikes. It is crazy and completely prevents me from doing any end game events. A reboot of my FIOS router appeared to help at first but not anymore.
maybe they're dedicating servers to that whole e3 stream?
j/k
Yep. I can't craft with macros. Macros keep running when everything freezes. It seems to cycle in lag spikes. One minute everything okay the next everything freezes all over. I went thru this before and replaced my router-modem. It cut down on some of the lag but it's not gone. I get it in dungeons and anywhere I'm in the game. It was there before the patch but it's getting worse.
I think they should bring auto log out back but set it on a 3hr timer. Never 20 minutes!
This is killing myth runs. Could barely do Brayflox yesterday. Everything froze for like 30 seconds. I just spammed cure hoping my tank was alive >_>
Lol it feels great to be lag free 80% of the time after these recent patches.
Usually i'd be the laggiest one out of the group, but not this time! ^^
Now i can watch as ppl struggle thru dungeons and fights just like i have in the past weeks. I know it'll get fixed soon and possibly i'll be the only laggy one again, but hey lol; i should enjoy this while it lasts.
They can't patch it out because the issue is at Level 3 which is a top tier ISP that provides trunk access to regular ISPs. You think SE customer service is bad? I wouldn't want to be the SE rep on the phone with those guys. At that level of the information superhighway there is a near monopoly so they don't really give a crap.
People should give SE a break since this isn't even their fault. If it is not on SE's end, then there isn't much they could do about it. I've play several months in a row without experiencing much lag except rarely for some slight lag. Overall, SE servers have been great so far.
My static beat t7 yesterday after only a total of about 5 hours of trying dating back to last week. No one experienced any lag but we did have one member 90k'd before raid started and one healer dc'd for about 3 minutes during our kill run.
Wether it is SEs fault or not the game is completely unplayable at the present time. They need to address this with their paying customers. Would be a good opener to today's Live Letter. Not holding my breath though. Too much Fluff to pass out. Not enough time for real transparency.
I remember some time back discussion about a L3 bad spot from NYC area to Montreal as being the source of this. I wonder if things don't improve whether SE might consider relocating their NA/EU server location. Might also be an opportunity to create some true EU servers. But then, perhaps the current problem is something else entirely.
I have had 0 lag, on the actual server nor on the instance server, for many weeks. I did, however, see everyone else having issues around me - several DCs in the dungeon I was running, plus people on skype and in my FC that I was talking to also had issues. But for me, not a thing. Nor for one of my IRL friends. We're both British. I expect, then, it's an issue that isn't directly the fault of SE. The only people I do know it was affecting are those who are based in the US.
People seem to forget that networks are pretty fragile, and that information doesn't go direct to the intended servers.
Tried to restart the game. I am now getting a Fatal Direct X failure message. Is the me of the game? any info would be appreciated.
Can't address what is not under their control. It's L3 Communication.
i blame E3.
I must respectfully disagree with you. SE is producing and marketing this product. The ultimate responsibility for it falls on them. They contracted the various network services they do not control themselves. It is up to them to ensure that they are receiving what they contracted for. As paying customers we have a right to know why we are not receiving what we pay for. A simple acknowledgement of the problem would suffice, not the silence we are receiving.
Tupsi Please allow this to act as a response to your post. As I said SE bears the ultimate responsibility to their customers.
What would they say..? This isn't a problem within SE, they do not speak nor represent any other company that isn't a part of Square Enix - In this regard, they can't legally speak of or for Level3.net. When you enter in a contract with other companies, you will notice very quickly no company will openly speak of issues within the business side of things. Not because they don't want to but because they can't. It's common for a reason to never hear about certain things from even open companies like Blizzard.
Yeah my group couldnt clear T9 this sunday (we had to raid only on sunday last week) because of the lag screwing the last phase for everyone.
:(
Net neutrality. It's lagging coz SE didn't pay for fast lane access :)
The problem is all the local ISPs likely contract their backbone access through Level 3 as there's only 2 or 3 actual Tier 1 ISPs. Switching ISPs would prove useless and moving the data center is far for
Financially feasible most likely.
Had zero lag either.
It is somewhat SE's fault. If their servers were a bit more reliable, a small hiccup would not suddenly fully disconnect someone. I have other services that have been affected by the L3 issues, but they're stable enough that I experience some lag and and then recover. In the past few days, I have disconnected more than 10 times. Total disconnection; I get no lag and then suddenly the 90000 error.
I haven't had lag problems today, as opposed to yesterday when they made doing anything near impossible.
thanks for the replies guys, sucks that it doesn't appear to be something thats going to be fixed soon. can anyone experiencing the really bad spikes speak about where they are from? seems its affecting myself and my other west coast friends the worst. im playing from california
I'm kind of hoping that tonight's maintenance will address this. :( I can't even practice titan ex bc the lag's been so bad.
