New Jobs for Existing Classes (My wish list)

Archer > Ranger (pure ranged DD)

Conjurer > Sage (DD, with access to spells like Banish/Banish 2/Dia etc)
Conjurer Alternative > Green Mage (Support/DD, could use the spell Leap to help people in battles like Titan)

Thaumaturge > Time Mage (Ranged DD/Support, similar to BRD)

Warrior > Berserker (Dual Wield axes, DD/Off Tank)

Pugilist > Geomancer (The groundwork is oddly already present, they can invoke 2 primary elements as toggles. DD/Support)
Pugilist Alternative > Beast Master (Creates spiritual bonds with beasts, DD/Off Tank)

Gladiator > Dark Knight (Just give a greatsword or hand/half sword, take away shield. DD/Off Tank)

Lancer > Temple Knight (Tank/DD)
Lancer Alternative > Dark Knight (Uses a Glaive weapon, a like a double sword, or just a greatsword, Suppression Tank/DD, the DRK on FF2 used a spear)

Love the idea of dual wield axes, sounds badass.

Beastmaster? But.. pug.. pu... pup. Puppetmaster.

I've only really thought out one, but here's my wish list;

Marauder => Dark Knight;

Thaumaturge Sub, with access to Fire/Blizzard, as well as Lancer sub.

JA1: Stance, increases damage taken by X%, converts enmity into magic potency (more enmity, higher nukes damage). (Name: Dark Covenant?)
JA2: Spell, restores HP proportional to damage. (Name: Drain, obviously)
JA3: Ability, sacrifice HP to sharply increase magic potency. (Name: Last Resort, Souleater?)
JA4: Ability, weapon skill which restores MP proportional to damage, comes off the Heavy Swing > Maim combo. (Name: Storm's Fury?)
JA5: Spell, powerful dark elemental damage, on par with things like Flare and Holy. (Name: Dark Flare?)

Still uses Great Axes, with the designs being similar to a Headsman Axe to give it that dark feeling. Basically, you build enmity with Marauders enmity combo, and convert that into being able to do powerful magic damage on a melee Job, making it a high risk Job to play.

Pugilist => Dancer. Counter/Evasion Tank, with self healing capabilities. The Forms effectively become dance related, rather than martial stances. Dance abilities would change effect depending on the Form you're currently in, making combos slower paced than Monk.

Lancer => Templar. Melee Support, somewhat similar to how Bard is.

Conjurer => Geomancer. Just change the Cure spells into Water, make its Relic a Wand/Shield combo, and it's ultimate spell should be Quake to match Black Mages Flare.

Archer => Ranger. No brainer.

Gladiator => Runic Knight. Counter Tank. Runic allows the Job to absorb an incoming attack and turn it against your enemy, pop Runic before a bomb explodes and you can skip dodging and throw some damage back at the bomb.

Thaumaturge => Necromancer. Healer/Support. A Raise spell with a twist, it's temporary. Rather than healing allies, it instead takes HP from one party member, and gives it to another. Relic would be a Scepter/Shield combo, seeing as Scepters seem to relate more to the undead (see: Haukke Manor bosses weapons).

Some don't really work well with the Class abilities, but nor does Bard really, so whatever. All would still use their existing weapon types, because I don't really see them changing that to be honest.

Oh, and since we know they're coming;

Musketeer => Corsair (DPS), Orator (Support). Corsair, Duh. Orator from Tactics, just fits with Guns, if not that Chemist.
Dagger Class => Thief (Support), Ninja (DPS). Thief has always been Support, Stealing to get your party better gear, or potions to heal with. Hard concept to work into a MMO Job, but doable. Ninja is not a Tank. It has never been a Tank. It will never be a Tank.

Bonus round; New Ishgard Classes!

Fencer => Red Mage.
Tamer => Beastmaster.
Astronomer => Time Mage.

Fencer and Astronomer seem likely to me, given what we've seen so far. Ishgard has Knights, and they use Astronomy to help fight the Dragons, I forget exactly how, but it was very time related. Tamer is just something left over from 1.0 that was related to Ishgard.

I actually want this to happen:

Shaman (new Class) - A mystic who has spent time amongst the beast tribes of Eorzea, and has gained an understanding of primal magic. (Possible weapons: Scimitar, Whip, Kamas, Maces, something that gives kind of a wayfaring dervish theme)

Branches into Blue Mage and Beast Master (instead of my PGL idea), but I doubt this will ever happen.

The reason I want this is because the 2 can mesh. I'm thinking a mixture of Strago Magus from FFVI and Gau also from FFVI, with a throw in of a pet as BST.

It would also explain why the user is able to overpower a large amount of beasts out in Eorzea as a BST, using esoteric primal magic.

"Primal Magic" would be a precursor to Blue Magic, and the users of the Class would need to learn the abilities/spells through gameplay from 1-30, and partially from their soulstones thereafter.

I could see these guys coming from the Sagoli Desert area, maybe some Miqo'tes start it out and give it to the city states, have the job quests however reside in the Forgotten Springs

I hope they release ranger and fix bard. We need actual support classes in the game. It would open the door to a lot of classes without pigeon-holing them into being a DD/Tank/Healer even though they don't particularly fit a single role.

To explain my label for Roles:

DD / Off Tank - 2nd tank alternative for groups that need higher DD and a tank to grab/distract lesser adds, not meant as a replacement to 1 of 2 tanks but some groups could swing it either way. Has access to Damage Limit Break

Tank / DD - Similar to Warrior as it is now.

Suppression Tank / DD - A new main tank type to FFXIV, one that debuffs an enemy heavily rather than has natural mitigation abilities and deals an unusual amount of damage/has access to Damage Limit Break

Personally, I hope they change a lot of the abilities depending on Job.

For Bard, I'd hope to see Raging Strikes and Misery's End turned into Songs, a HP recovery Song and something else. Bloodletter should restore MP while on Bard, giving you a way to keep Songs up for longer. Barrage would be nice if it allowed you to play two Songs (three with the trait) at once. That way the Job would definitely feel more like Bard, assuming the songs are even useful. Ranger can work mostly as Archer does currently, just change Swiftsong to something which combos off Heavy Shot, to allow one of its Job Abilities to combo off that.

Main boost I'm still waiting for on Bard is the ability to see my goddamned Monk and Warriors TP in the party list. I have absolutely no idea why we're still stuck with XIs archaic lack of a TP meter for party members...

I've always suspected that the dagger-type *class* will be something along the lines of "Scout," and the jobs will come off of that, being Thief AND Ninja. Both Thief and Ninja have been main jobs in several FF games, and I would expect the same to be here.

Based off the story's cut-scenes, Thancred appears to be a Thief, and the lady seems to be a Ninja.

I would expect both to make an appearance.

As much as I agree and I really do, I still wouldn't rule dancer out, they've added the three quests where you discover the dancer profession, so is still a possibility, though yours is more likely right

Geomancer/Elementalist from Conjurer. I think it'd be cool to have a magic tank. Seems like it should be based on a kind of shielding mechanic. It would also do some self and party heals with big enmity modifiers on them (party heals sort of being the equivalent to the strength down and damage down debuffs Pal/war have)

Berserker/Viking from Marauder. DPS which can use the non-job-specific tank armor. Still uses a wrath expenditure mechanic, perhaps uses enmity somehow...but it has to still be able to go all out without risking pulling from a decent tank...all the other classes can in my experience. Unless it just deals crazy insane damage as a trade off.

Samurai as a counter-based tank.
Similar to War it would have an enmity combo and also a couple utility combos. Instead of debuffing the enemy they'd add to counter damage and counter damage reduction.
It feels like it should come from Dragoon, given they have Keen Furry...but man that'd be kinda hard to figure out.
It could come from the new dagger class, as it seems likely to be eastern themed. It seems easier to build a dual-job class from the ground up (like arcanist)
Or, perhaps it comes from a "sword master" class (Yay Bravely Default!) that branches to dark knight or RDM or spell/rune fencer too.

Scions are always base classes. That's not too big a deal, but that means he either won't be a thief or some people will be disappointed (OH no!)

Also a very LONG shot but I would love summoner to get high summoner job, where instead of summoning an egi, they actually become the embodiment of a primal, I'd love to run around outside ul'dah as titan geo crushing lady birds

Just a small correction, XI was way less restrictive than ARR, this game uses the holly trinity in it's most pure form, i doesn't allow class and pty customization. support jobs could alleviate this restriction a bit but knowing Yoshi as we know him, he will provably make a new party list.

And for me

Fencer > Blue Mage/Red Mage

That would cover my fav jobs in a single class.

I made a similar idea to that stemming from the Flayer class (in my sig).

My job wishlist is in my signature. Scout -> THF+NIN is another idea I had been working on but it seems kinda pointless to post the idea now with a possible reveal of the actual class today :P

But basically:

Fencer (DPS) -> Red Mage (DPS/Support) & Mystic Knight (Tank)
Flayer (DPS) -> Blue Mage (DPS) & Beastmaster (DPS/Support off tank)

To be honest, unless they allow u to use attributes separately, no more like arcanist. I chose arcanist b/c I wanted to be a scholar and summoner. But it isnt feasible, unless I just want a healer for dungeons etc.

Either change the price to reset attributes, or dont do it again. It just penalizes u for choosing it. Now I hav to be a white mage.

Great suggestion for green mage (my favourite job in FF) and Time mage coming from THM would give me a reason to take up that class again. As long as Time Mage is not based on rotations:/

If they add new jobs to existing classes, it probably wont be the same roles.
For PGL, it's probably going to be a tank, since they got fist of earth, and featherfoot, and can cross-class defensive/aggro skills. Mantra, and second wind to help heals, something similar to what war does.
They got some AOE combos even. Downside being you couldn't utilize position based combos, so your damage would be default be gimped.
There could be a healer class also, that use mantra to boost healing, and maybe something that supports second wind, making it AOE. Could add Fist of Water, which increase healing potency.
Would be interesting to do tp based fighting, and use mp for heals. That way they wouldn't need any MP recovery skills like WHM/SCH.

GLD would be kind of OP as anything else, cause they have lots of defensive buffs. It would have to use clothing, to minimize base def, so the buffs dont make you a tank. Also they got vit trait, which would give them more hp, but less atk, than other DD.
They would need to add more damage oriented skills to GLD, with increase in lv cap, some new 3rd hit to riot combo, or a completely new one.

BRD is already DD, so i dont think they will add ranger. If they give some combo to ranger, it would be to strong, if they dont, it won't be any different than BRD.
Unless they turn bard into support-healer or caster, and give it mnd or int gear, to nerf dps; And Ranger becomes dex-dps.

Two new classes have been announced, which most should know.

Gunner Class:
Now they say this isn't going to play the way we think, so I don't know what to do about this. As long as it's guns, I'm happy... been waiting for Musketeer since it was announced back in Alpha 0f 1.0, and was the whole reason I wanted to play. I think BLU could come off this, as well as Corsair, Gunner etc... would be interesting to see.

Dagger Class:
It seems to me this is pretty much set, and that all signs point to Ninja and Thief, though I think Dancer and Blue Mage would also be good choices to come straight off this. But as you see above I have also put where BLU and DNC would work as well. :)

My personal wish:

Gunner Class > Alchemist Job

using 2handed rifles, being an healer job that uses potions and vials graphically for his spells (no consumable items)

How could you make it viable instead of a whm or a sch?

Give him the basic heal spell (cure1, physicks)
Give him a basic aoe spell (medica1 like)
Give him buffs that improve received healings, mitigate damage, lower boss damage, improva party damage etc...

He would be auto attacking the boss while he use his skills, so he could give a minimal dps boost himself.

I'd personally love to play a class like this if executed well, otherwise well, I'm a sch! Best healer of any mmorpgs, first pet class healers, tons of options/tactical skills. No reason not to play one if you love healers ;P
