FATE
Beastmen dailies
Chocobo leveling
Battle Leve at max stars
Dungeons
You can also buy from the calamity npc another meteor ring to equip two of them (if you did the sidequests at bronze lake after titan mainstory to earn the first ring)
Depends on what tier of materia you're aiming for. If you're aiming for III or IV materia, your fastest approach is to grab a group and just destroy everything in the area that is 48+. There are several areas like that. Otherwise, you could always find some friends to grind lv50 dungeons with a lot of trash mobs in a small area that aren't too bad to kill quickly (even in just the i55 gear), this being places like Brayflox. Depending if it's lv45-49 gear, AV or DD would probably work much more efficiently. However, if you're looking to just solo, then you really only have the option of going to beastmen strongholds, south shroud elementals, Garlean strongholds, or places like North Thanalan. Beastmen daily quests are decent depending on how far you are with them and what level of gear you're binding.
Now if it's low tier (like t1 materia), your options are a lot greater as you can easily find certain areas to AoE groups of mobs quickly.
If speed is not your object, FATE grinding in areas appropriate to your item level is probably the best way to go, as you'll have that small chance of getting an Alexandrite while you're working. Don't rely on it, but think of it as a nice surprise if it happens.
If you want speed, Crystal Tower is an excellent place to spiritbind(if you have a good group), and I hear that Turn 3 of Coil is also beautiful.
On other notes, make sure to have Spiritbind Potions handy, the Spiritbinding FC buff if you can, and Spiritbind Speed increasing gear anywhere you're willing to sacrifice a slot for.
If you can get yourself a party that isn't godawful, turn 4 is the best place in the game for spiritbonding.
Other option is taking a party to urths gift, southeast of quarrymill, as stated above have any spirit bond boosting gear you can have/sacrifice, and grab a few spiritbond potions from GC.
With a decent party I've been able to spiritbond a full set of crafter lvl 50 partisans gear, and accessories wearing only white mage staff in about 40 mins to an hour.
(oh, grinding on water sprites there, close area, fast respawn times).
It takes less than 30m to fully spiritbond an entire set of ilvl45+ gear solo (on BRD). Just find somewhere where there are plenty of lvl 45+ mobs and go to town. Using meteor rings is foolish as you've just reduced the # of gear slots available for SB by two.
Good time as any to get the map feat for coil 3.
Urths gift, South Shroud.
I did some spirit bonding in the South Shroud was pretty fast. My question is why do people talk about putting material on the gear you are trying to Spirit Bond?
Wanderer's Palace and Amdapor Keep are ok for a change of scenery from SB'ing Urth's Gift, etc. all day as long as the rest of your party doesn't object. I find if I keep my SB gear to accessories only and appropriate for my job (such as str for melee dps, int for mage, etc) few people object. Also aim for an ilvl over 70 if you do this and your damage won't suffer too drastically to slow the party down much, as the mobs are easy. It's not the most efficient or best but it can be fun (sometimes).
Hmm ok dunno if it would be worth it maybe for trying to get T4 materias. But elemental resist materias did fall in price again. Thanks for the info though.
crystal tower and T3
The other thing about melding something you will SB is it's supposed to up the chance of a higher grade. So if you're trying to get IV materia, using trash materia on those items can help a little. Plus it makes bonding the higher level items take less time.
Some people like to use the +spiritbond ring and other items like that, while most I know just go all out and just put gear in every slot to spiritbond. The potions are basically a "why not" situation.
Some popular jobs to spiritbond on are white mage and bard. Holy is your friend if whm'ing it up. Bard is kind of nice too, but if you are going alone, you'll probably have a easier time as a white mage. Really any job is fine, except I'd imaging going as a tank is slower if you are alone.
It's probably best to use your best weapon as your only "normal" gear. If you want to go all out and use a weapon that you can break for materia too that is also a option but, in my experience it's faster to just use the nicest weapon you have on hand. Also, bring some dark matter to repair your weapon if you can, or just bring a spare weapon because it will eventually break if you go at it for a long bit.
If you can craft your own i70's the mats for some are pretty cheap, and better to guarantee your t4's rather than rely on a 10% rate from 45-55's. Just keep in mind your options for sb are limited to coil, ct, lvl 50 dungeons other than wp/ak.
i find CM to be the eaiest place to spirit bind. as a lot of the mobs get killed by cannons effortlsy and its part of the daily roulet for main scenario. i usually just put any crafting gear left overs and go spirit bind there in duty finder. and sometimes i take the partica set.i do it as a healer ( sch ) and i have no healing issues even without any extra MND stat from the healing gear cause its just so easy its designed for level 45 gear.
If you put two meteor survivor rings on, that's about a 30% boost to 9 slots, while losing 2 slots, assuming you keep your main weapon. Spiritbond +1 gear is not worth it, you lose more than you gain, and Spiritbond +2 is a push in most cases.
Use HQ gear. Put cheap elemental materia in the 100% slots. Kill stuff that dies fast to you in crappy gear.
wear hq jewelry with one junk materia melded on each and head to bray hm (or any expert roulette).
get your soldiery, myth, and materia all in one fell swoop.
bray takes 3 runs, hali & amdipoor 2.5 ish. this is without any extra +?? SB
Never join any dungeons/raids with spiritbinding gear...you waste other peoples time and I, for my part, would BL you.
And only using accessories is a waste of time.
Fastest way to SB is using HQ gear with 1-2 melds and the GC buff, killing mobs lvl48+.
And equip ALL slots with gear to SB.
EDIT: I've tried using alot of Spiritbond+ items and the effect was so small that I didn't really notice and difference.
And ilvl 50 items won't give better results than ilvl 45+. The only difference is that ilvl45 items will SB faster than ilvl50.
I'm sorry but I can understand a little what Kyana is saying. Maybe not as far as BLing someone for it, but I really hesitate as a healer to jump into Brayflox or any other lvl 50 dungeon without my healers accessories on, or even replacing 1 armor piece for an item i'm trying to SB.
I'll SB on my own time, not on the time of my fellow players in a dungeon, where I'm there to do my job and help them complete it, as they are with me.
your opinion, which i find wrong!
i can run any dungeon with any sort of jewelry and preform.
i go into DR with 2 objectives.
1. maximize my outcomes
2. prevent others from forcing me into runs i didn't sign up for.
can i SR everything? yes
is it more apparent with my real gear? yes
can i still do it in SB gear? yes
do i soak up the commendations in SB gear in a SR? yes
can they see that i am not in full blue gear and should be cautious? yes
i got sick and tired of pushy tanks forcing me to become a heal bot so they could pull half the damn map so that it may reduce the time spent in a dungeon by a minute or two. mind you, this is without a comment, a hello, a 'do you want to SR', or anything of the sort. all they did was BE THE TARGET. poorly on so many runs mind you. time and time and time again. at this point my give-a-damn is busted!
Only one mention of B1 Turn 3? sad
Thx for that... valuable info.
Now, before this becomes a personal thing, let me tell you that, for me, this game is a way to relax from my work which takes up the majority of my time.
I'm tired of people running hard mode dungeons with crafting/gathering gear, forcing the rest of the party to make up for the lack of damage, healing or damage mitigation.
You can run dungeons to SB if you make a party finder group and state your intentions.
If you want that, do it, no problem.
But joining regular parties or duty roulettes with that kind of gear is, in my opinion, just a way to leech and get carried. And I don't support that kind of behaviour.
That's the thing about opinions. It doesn't matter what others think about them.
How could this be possible? Do you mean if people want to do a SR and you don't want to?
Why not just tell them to go at normal pace instead of gimping yourself and forcing your preferences on the rest of the party?
And you think it's fun for a tank to get pushed to take on more mobs than he/she wants because healers or DDs can't get enough and pull stuff?
Is it fun for a DD to hold back because the tank can't hold aggro?
If you don't want to heal when playing a healer...
you just dont get it. but thx for the recondition.
i CAN SR in my normal gear
i CAN SR in SB jewelry. the only negative is i cannot DD as much (OH NO!)
i DON'T always want to SR depending on mood or party make-up.
However i find far too many times that i get no say in the matter. i can barely SS/Protect the party before some tanks jets off to grab all the way past the bridge.
