Your company's insistance of just apologising and brushing it under the carpet is really very very infuriating. It's not ok. It's nothing something you can brush off. It should not have happened.

The patch date was pushed back several times, you would have thought to prepare for all eventualities on patch day, yet there are severe problems at patch release.

There was a recent server upgrade. You took us offline to do it, yet there are severe (apparently hardware) issues at patch release.

You already had ample opportunity to test everything in an isolated environment, yet there are severe issues at patch release.

I'll analogise it for you to make it more simple - If I were to buy a PS3 title and took it home today and it refused to work, I would get my money back straight away.

So the montly subscription is free? How many millions of copies did you shift at release? That's multi-millions there. I know I paid money for it.

What annoys me most as a dedicated fanboy and having invested massive amount of time and money in your product is your inability to take the initiative when your stock has taken a hammering through repeated failure.

You had a chance to redeem yourself. At the mere sign of slightly more attempted logins than usual, everything comes to a halt and we're left none the wiser.

You could tell us "Come back in 6 hours, when it's fixed.", but no I get to sit here, trying to login over and over and over again.

I don't know why I do it.

I'm tired of defending a game and company that seem to do nothing to help themselves when given ample opportunity to.

I don't mind people wanting my hard earned money, but not when they're offering me little in return. Taking my money elsewhere seems like the only option as I refuse to continue to be treated this badly.

Yep, thought I might give the game another chance with this update.
SE did not disappoint, you have to succeed first, and ffxiv has yet to do so once.

While SE is making these untested patches, and players that have nothing to do, could be testing on a beta server so shit like this doesn't happen.

SO basically you can't log into the game? That's what I got from your whole rant... This patch is a huge step that the game needed to take, as soon as you can log in you will find that out.

Let's keep the developers in mind, they have deadlines, and people pushing at them from all angles to make the game better. Let's cut them some slack, when a patch releases it's obvious it will have bugs in it, that's why we have hotfixes. Downright attacking the company is something down right unacceptable, and I can imagine it is disheartening for the developers to hear people like you rant.

But I also know why your so angry... you don't even contribute to the community here on the forums... 1 post?!!? Try contributing a bit more to this games community first and then people like us will take you more seriously. For now your rant will be classified with all of the other Trolls who do nothing but bring negativity to the game.

I have to agree with the basic points of the OP.

SE pushed back the release of this patch citing 'please be patient we're doing extensive testing/debugging'
SE took down the servers for hardware upgrades that were designed to make it more stable.

Day of the patch, massive bugs and server issues.

(I'd hate to see what kind of horrific bugs they would have had if they had released it on time)

2 Yeah a lot of my Linkshell members are showing up as grey.. I can't see who is who.. Hopefully they will hotfix this.
3 good luck finding a shell man. I'm hoping to find one to do some dungeons with pretty soon.
4 In WoW I did all of my leveling solo... It gets extremely boring when I am doing an endless amount of questing/grinding by myself. the group aspect is a great trait of this game... let's keep it that way!
5 the whole crafting system will be going through changes in the future.. I think the main focus of 1.8 was on the battle fundamentals.

I expected this kind of retaliatory brainless response. I don't really want to dignify it with my own response, but I will.

It's is not an isolated incident with this game. It's failure after failure after failure after failure. It's not because I can't log into the game. My post is entitled "Not taking the initiative" that's what it's about. Read things before you comment.

I don't really appreciate someone who's a 25GLA with 41 posts trying to be an authority on how much people contribute to a game or a forum.

I have a right to call out a game on its faults, when said game has had multiple chances to get it right and continues to not do so. This is merely the straw that broke the camel's back and it's quite clear in my post that this is the case.

Unless you're going to be a reasonable human being, I'll refuse to engage you any further in discussion, in what is ultimately a totally futile exercise.

The rest of you, I'm sure, understand where I'm coming from.

I don't know if you even bothered reading the post in detail. That being said, it's not just because the servers are down. It's the fact that SE does not communicate with their customers. Furthermore, they had ample time to test the servers as they continue to push things back however, it does not excuse them from just telling the public, "Sorry, we made a mistake please try again later in x hours".

Just to emphasis it's not just about not being able to log in.

I fail to see your point. And you find that neither of my posts are negative towards the game. I have taken lots of breaks from the game, but I have been playing since beta. My contribution towards the community (very small) is still present. Right now I enjoy this new patch, everyone else should too.

BTW I spell buritoslicer wrong on purpose... previous games had character limits on names. it's a tradition I don't plan on changing.

@Eldarion, I had to read your post over one more time. You don't need to explain your feelings, but understand there is multiple sides to the story. 41 posts or not, my involvement with this games community isn't limited to the forums. Trust me, we all wanted this game to kick butt on launch, it didn't happen. The game is improving, not at the speed we all would like... but regardless it is.

Why even go as far to reading my stuff? honestly, it was unnecessary. I didn't waste my time getting to rank 50 because the game didn't feel complete enough for me. More props to you for sticking it out.

In no way am I trolling. I know you know what trolling is, to accuse me of it would be inaccurate. perhaps instead of targeting me as your way to vent your frustrations or anger you should be playing the game and enjoying the new content... because that is what i'm doing.

this doesn't warrant a big rant on this forum, not does it warrant 5 different threads for it, but when you think about it not being able to log in on a new patch day is a big thing for people, since they can't even access the content. I guess i was ungrateful I logged in today at 5:30 grabbed a public company quest and logged off when my bf started crashing, did not even try to log back in. But my heart still goes out to those who want to log in, they should be able to do. Its all the people who quit coming back + the influx of new players thats been going on.

Not being able to login and no word from SE is a pretty big deal! It's easy to sit on the sidelines when a certain major bug just doesn't happen to involve YOUR account.

What do we need to do to login? WHEN will this issue be solved? We need concrete plans and hour estimates right NOW!
