Guildhests? GUILDHESTS!

So, has anyone else been wondering why we haven't been getting a monthly dose of new Guildhests?

It's almost like everyone forgot about them!

It'd be neat to see 3-5 new Guildhests every major patch, ranging from low level to hardcore.

I personally think quite a few of the ones we have now are really fun, but I'd love to see more of these mini scripted battles!

Exactly!

They could do with so more love. The buff to reset the EXP bonus on each of your classes was a good start!

You know it's funny, I ended up skipping the quest to start them as I figured I'd get some of the side quests when I came back to level another class. New players are really left wondering what they are. Figuring out which levemete I unlocked first to find the battlemaster was not fun.

Please, can people stop asking for 'hardcore'. If you want proper hard core play another game.

Have you tried to get a group for the last few it's close to impossible even as a tank or healer. The funny thing about guildhests is that it's supposed to introduce you to groups gameplay but it has the opposite effect. Each guildhests focuses on a specific thing: it kill their healer, avoid poop and guess what - it's the last thing people do. SE do their best and put a massive box in front of you that tell you what to do and guess what, people still fail. How many times has the tank killed that turtle rather than kite it to the bag! That being said it would be nice to get level 50 ones where we could use all our abilities.

You know, you can always play another game if that frustrates you.

I always liked guildhests. When I first unlocked them I looked forward to doing the two new ones every five levels, and I did them as soon as I unlocked them. I think SE was pretty clever with how they tried to introduce game mechanics to new players, it's just a shame that these guildhests get ignored. Especially when the rewards for doing them on new characters are actually pretty decent.

Personally, I think they should add hard-stop mechanics if you don't follow the guidelines for the guildhest. People don't learn mechanics if everyone in the group ignores them. How many times do you see everyone just rush the big group in the first Guildhest? Or ignore the adds in the second?

Make it so if you ignore the mechanics then you die, fail, whatever.

They were supposed to be optional tutorial fights which is why they probably feel they don't need to add any more. I disagree, however, since they're not very good at teaching at the early levels how to use their mechanics because they're perhaps a bit too easy and they're also a little biased against new player Marauders at first.

The first two prevent new Marauders from using their AoE enmity ability because you're synced one level too low. No it's not required but it'd be nice to let them learn about it, especially since SE made the first hest a swarm of mobs and the second about learning how to pick up adds, and Gladiator *will* have Flash at that point since the hest is level 10 and Flash is level 8. New player Marauders cannot get Flash unless they wait till at or after 15 story quests and unlocking and leveling Paladin to do the level 10 hest...not exactly hard, but not exactly fair either, and what brand new player would be expected to know about that?

That aside, some more difficult hests would be nice. At all levels. Make two the tutorials, and then one to two where you have to use what you learned in a more difficult battle. Reward it with a random class specific aetherial item for all participants or something. Doesn't have to be huge. And maybe put some ones that are boss fights similar to what the Hydra/Chimera trials are that'll use some weaker, non-fatal version (unless you keep messing it up) of techniques that say Primals use (Titan.).

if you refer to overpower , it was possible to use it few months ago , but they patched it so id assume its intended that way , having played it was warrior before and after patch i support that change because it makes the fight slightly more difficult , overpower there was a bit overpowered :D

Well they patched *all* the hests to be one level lower because they said something about they felt the hests were too easy at the current sync. If you notice, they are exactly no more difficult at one level lower. :p It's true Overpower is not needed there, a Conjurer can Tank, Heal, and DPS there if they were so inclined. That's not the point. :p

I was thinking the same thing earlier today. I really like both the quick 'n easy nature of the guildhests, as well as the fact that they also require at least a little coordination. I'd love to see some iLvl50 synced guildhests that involved things like having your party split up to invade a Castrum. Half of the party sneaks around back to disable the security systems, and the other half needs to fight against endless waves of soldiers until the other team completes their objective. Once that's complete, you need to sneak through the Castrum and destroy a prototype Magitek Reaver as a boss.

Basically, make these "Expert" Guildhests last around 20 minutes or so and give them a high GC Seal reward. It'd be pretty fun, and would get more people into doing them, I think.

If I did and others who feel like that then the game would be an empty shell. The developers have correctly noticed that hardcore raiding games just aren't viable these days. Why do you think Blizzard have implemented different levels of difficultly in their raids. Raids take massive amounts of developers time for only a small amount of players - it's financial suicide throwing so much time on a very small group of players. Even the first coil has been given a buff to make it more accessible. In my opinion Carbine have made a grave mistake with Wildstar by making 40 (2x20) man (hardcore) raids. Sure it'll be easy to recruit now but a year down the line they'll run into difficulty. They'll need to reduce the raid sizes and either nerf them or made alternative difficulties.

We have that in the turtle and boy does it infuriate me just watching as we fail because one idiot of a tank (usually) has no clue.

I've noticed this myself since I started marauder. Luckily my first class was gladiator so I had flash to help. Overpower is so... overpowered and should be available at 10 instead of 15, I think?

If you play all the guildhests after doing endgame content it's funny/amazing how much you realize they're supposed to teach you.

Burning the boss, AoE damage, timing stuns, handling add mechanics, healer/tank/dps checks etc.
But when you're a new player it all goes over your head.

2 guildhests every 5 level, beginning with level 10.
I'm sure more are coming with level cap increase

Or SE could increase the amount of guildhest to 3 every 5 levels.

Or maybe a final guildhest at the end with all the mechanics of the other guildhest in it, to test how much the player have learned. Maybe to unlock CT2

Now I wasn't playing when 2.0 opened, but were people speed running when it first released? Most games speed / zerg runs are caused by players being overgeared for the content but still getting a reward for the content that they do want. Speed Runs in this way become a different design issue.

I've been playing now since last October and I've done two. The first one, twice. No one followed the rules, they always drew the attention of He Who Should Not Be Disturbed, we all died.

I gave up on them since they're optional and all.

Yes they've been going on since a little after launch. It all began with Wanderer's Palace speed runs. All it took to overgear that dungeon was a handful of Darklight and an Ifrit wep if that. The devs patched WP so you couldn't literally one-pull each section of the dungeon (the random key drops from the tonberries etc.) but it didn't change much.

WP SRs were waaay after launch. Before that it was AK sac pull SRs and CM (skip everthing runs) SRs. After they made it so there was a barrier in the door of each AK boss, people moved to WP. Then they made it do there are locks that required killing tonberries. The people just moved to the next best thing. It was still better than the terrible CM situation we has at launch.

More people need to share their love of Guildhests!

I'd like more... I think some insanely difficult ones could be very fun.

I think I would like to see some end game ones too. Would be a nice change of pace from dungeon runs.

They should add new ones serving as Tutorials for Endgame. Like dodge, DPS and heal checks, tank swaps and so on. Highest Level is 40 anyways atm so there is enough space for high level guild heists that introduce more complex mechanics.

I love guildhests. I would love to see more for level 50.
