800 x 0 / 75 = 0? ;)
Seriously though, you are scaring me.. I want to get away from work, but not sure to go back home..
Since 2.0 it's been Final Repetitiveness XIV.
Every time I look into patch notes to see if I should commit to this MMO again I am like nope!
I get that weapons are awsome and stats look great, but there is a limit to self inflicting boredom.
So.much.lazy.design.
You could also do more fate grinding with Animus for Alexandrites.. Lolz
Or your daily expert Alexanderite...
...or the yet announced 2.3 methods.
Do we know yet that higher-tier materia only count for 1 stat point? Maybe tier IVs are worth 4 points (or even 2, or 3). That could cut down the number by a bit.
I would imagine that the least painful way to get your Alexandrites would be to do a variety of content (including the Hunts that they're adding in 2.3) rather than just speed-burning Brayflox, but I guess if you're trying to get the first Novus on your server then {Brayflox's Longstop} {Have a safe journey.}
It's the player choice to do myth farming in Brayflox if there are also other places to farm them.
What should SE do? Putting speed blockers into the dungeon? Then the speedrunners move to the next dungeon and start to complain about that dungeon.
Like it was with AK, CM and WP
Ok, not being sarcastic here, but what would you suggest? I see a lot of ppl who complain about design, battle mechanics, etc. But I haven't seen anyone mention what they would prefer to see.. So if irs so lasy with the design, what would you, just one person/player out of a 1.5 million add? Or remove? I honestly want to know.
^ This.
Srsly ppls, the game is what you make of it. You don't HAVE to run Brayflox until you bleed from every pore just as you don't HAVE to have a relic weapon as there are plenty of equal alternatives available in the game. Don't want to spend the time an effort upgrading the ONE type of purple weapon in the game. That's fine, there are blue alternatives for you to choose from.
Told my cousin the same thing. Don't run BF speedruns, you'll only burn yourself out and make the game unenjoyable for yourself. He didn't listen. Now he's burnt out and I'm not. (and I have better gear now anyways /irony)
IF you choose to rush through and "be the most efficient", causing you to burn out because you SR Brayflox HM too much, I don't have much sympathy for ya.
Everyone wanted the next weps to be "harder to get since relic was so easy mode", so you got your wish. This is a video game. Not a bloody race to "unlock new gearz first!"
The problem is the repetitiveness and the lack of places to go to do this quest, the book where fun, because you had to travel all over the world killing monsters, doing dungeons and different stuff.
Novus/ buying book is boring, hey do this thing XXXX times to get a shiny.
I did my animus but now i don't care, next weapon will be the one bought with memoquartz.
This is how it should be viewed. People call the quest line a "grind". But it's only a grind if you log in every day, for hours on end, only doing Brayflox HM for the myth until you have 1500, and can burn through a book in a few hours to do it all again.
I've not "grinded" once. I'm half way through my books. I've enjoyed the journey, and I'm looking forward to feeling the final results, when I get there. A lot of people focus only on the destination, and keep asking "are we there yet?". They complain because there's a long way to go yet.
This is an idea I posted cpl weeks ago. Keep in mind it's an "idea" and it took me 1hr. With more work into it, it could be fleshed out more.

Alright then, which is better?
1. You get to take a roadtrip to some nice place for the weekend every week, but have to work a tedious job during the week.
2. You get to take a roadtrip to some nice place for the weekend every month, and your day job is so-so.
That basically sums up the 2 options we have.
I swear some of you people. SE could release a game breaking bug that deletes your characters and you'd all be happy about that. You know sometimes Square isn't making the right call (a la FF14 1.0?)
You can do 1 dungeon a day and get done in 75 days since you get a map for the daily quest, but yes if you want to get done in a shorter time you have to do more stuff.
They are not confusing anything. They are adding pure grinds and making weapons rare and even more rare, while the line progresses further. It is an option beside H. Allagan, Soldiery, Primals ( hint hint, dont toss your iffy/titan weapons etc  )
If you do not like THIS option, there are more options for you. Leave it to those who actually does like grinds.
Difficult means time now a days.
The problem that people have is that the new weapons aren't "harder to get" at all. They're time consuming and boring, anybody who repeats the same small handful of content required for these as many times as they need to will be burned out of that content, I really don't think it matters how fast you choose to rush through it, by the time you're done getting a weapon I doubt you'll have much interest in doing that content anymore.
I would personally be very happy if the weapons were actually hard to get rather than boring to get. If you honestly find 20+ hours of fate grinding and 13.5k+ myth (not including this new need for myth) entertaining then more power to you I guess but when these weapons were released a large majority of players had already exhausted the content you need to do to get atma/animus weapons (fates/old dungeons) with the exception of the new dungeons, which there are only 3 of and at this point are becoming exhausting as well.
I don't really see how reusing this content and forcing people to do an obscene amount of it does anything but burn people out, it's certainly not hard, at least in my opinion.
I'd say the older generation of mmo players are the ones relatively exited about this. 10-15 years ago MMOs were nothing but massive grinds.
If you look for them on the forum, then that is the wrong place. 3% of the playerbase sitting on the forum complaining about it, is not really a great sample size. Since fates are more packed than usual at this time of the day and i see a good amount with animus weapons doing them, idk. Either they do it just for the sake of it, or they actually working on alexandrites.
Personally i enjoy this "option" and SE is not forcing anyone into this route, since they gave more options.
Just because people are doing it doesn't mean they enjoy doing it, people do things they don't like doing all the time in order to achieve something, work for example.
I have to agree with the guy you quoted in this sense, about 2/3 of my friends list have quit in the last month while they were working on atma or animus weapons and I've yet to meet a single person in game who actually enjoys this, at least the fate grinding part of it. I'm sure they exist but from my perspective, they are few and far between.
I knew someone would say that and to be honest, you should consider re-adjusting your priorities. Why for gods sake, would you do something in a Game, which you do not enjoy? I must have missed that memo about Games being now a Job.
1 gil for each time i read that and i would be a gillionaire and beside that, if those statements were true.. the servers would be empty. Sorry, but i've seen just a handful since day 1 who did actually quit and that were not for reasons related to the Game.
I still dont know anyone who quit over that. If you do not enjoy a certain aspect, don't do it. Quitting a game over it? Lol me.. whatever floats their boat i guess.
Because that it what it turns into. If you do something you do NOT enjoy, why would you do that? The only reason i see, is getting paid for it.
To put it most simply, because the option is there. It's a progressive goal, something to aim for, and once you get rolling on that ball it can be hard to quit, even when you reach the top of the hill just to find a mountain. It's not always easy to drop something because it no longer becomes fun for a while, but keep at it and many eventually put it down and quit.
Not sure where I said that I'm participating in this content, I personally refuse to participate in this even though it's the damn relic weapon of all things. There's a reason I'm still playing the game while all my friends have quit and it's probably because I choose to opt out of this.
That said, I still don't like seeing my friends quit the game due to this "content", and I would still love the opportunity to get these weapons without quitting the game before I make it there. You can fault me for that all you want but I will fight this to the bitter end since they took something epic like zodiak weapons and surrounded it with outdated filler content that is not hard at all.
I wouldn't ever equate MMOs to a job. Although I feel they are more than a game, maybe a hobby.
So.. let me get this straight, you can't believe that somebody would quit the game over not wanting to do something they don't enjoy, and then you go on to say that people should not do things they don't enjoy doing.
I think it's wonderful that none of your friends are quitting due to this "content" but whether you believe it or not several of mine are and that's the reason I dislike it.
No, you got that wrong. If you do not enjoy a Game, go play something you enjoy. Simple, now if you do not like a certain aspect of a MMO, which has a huge variety of different content and OTHER options, why does that influence the rest of the Game? Leaving a game people say they "enjoy" for this certain aspect, is what i do not understand. It is like not buying a car, because you dont like the brake being blue instead of red on the back-right side, but like everything else about it.
The Novus part is not even a grind? Do 1 Quest a day and after 75 days you have all the alexandrite you need in theory. People do not have to grind fates, myth or anything else to get them, so i don't really see how this is worse than atma, like some people say.
